Imagine a game where bowser teams up with another villain like this and in the traditional fake final boss (setting the axe to break the floor and bowser falls in lava) instead of bowser coming back in some way, the other villain takes control of bowser making him into “wonder bowser” (possibly) and it causes a evil type spirit inhabit bowsers body An example of this is in the end of bowsers inside story, except as a proper mario fight

Nintendo has had a lot of time to come up with new ideas, there hasn’t been a new boss other than Bowser since super Mario land 2, and it’s been around 1 or 2 years since Mario odyssey, the most recent main line Mario game. I would be surprised if they hadn’t introduced a new enemy.

To be fair, this makes alot of sense. Bowser seems to be dimming down, as shown at the end of Super Mario 3D World: Bowsers Fury. I think he’s not going as hard on Mario as he used to, so someone else behind the scenes playing as bowser would make perfect sense. Also it fits with the fresh new theme of Wonder

Speaking of purple clouds and antasma; antasma’s powers usually manifest as a purple, cloud like substance, so maybe there’s a connect there, tho it might just be because purple often represents corruption.

@@grantthegr81 That doesn't mean anything. Even when Mario RPGs were at their peak, they still never crossed into the main games. The best they got was a few enemies from the first Paper Mario leaking into Mario Party and a few obscure games like Mario Pinball Land. We DID get Goomboss in Mario 64 DS, but he's not really that iconic. Any fan favorite RPG characters like Fawful, Vivian, Dimentio, etc. have never made it outside their home series aside from spirits in Smash Bros.

Well Bowser did have Dark Matter plants in the Super Mario Galaxy games. So if that Dark matter became sentient and possessed Bowser and his allies and minions we could see more connections with the Kirby series. Honestly a Mario and Kirby crossover could be crazy fun.

It would honestly be interesting to see a different villain possessing Bowser and becoming the true final boss, kinda like how Kirby did it with Dedede getting possessed by Dark Matter in Dream Land 2 and 3. It would be cool to see a different villain that's not Bowser in a mainline game again considering the last time we had something like that was in Super Mario Land 2, which was released 30 or 31 years ago (that's a pretty long time without a different villain tbh). UPDATE 08/31/23: After seeing the SMBW Direct, this aged HORRIBLY... oh well...

I really do hope there is a new villain. I feel like it would be a huge missed opportunity if they didn't have a new villain. Bowser has been the villain for long time, and with this wacky new adventure Nintendo could finally introduce a new villain.

I know, right? And they've already missed opportunities like this before. Mario went to space TWICE. A setting like that leads to loads of possibilities for villains to face, yet Bowser was still the villain of both of them. This potential was only realized when Ubisoft made Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope, which was based on the Galaxy games AND had an original villain.

My theory is that the smoke is produced by something like the opposite of the wonder flowers, along the lines of nightmare flowers i suppose? Bowser tried to harvest them because evil things whatever, but him and bowser junior accidentially got sent into a wonder sequence like state while working woth the nightmare substance. So they got all weird and got special powers and stuff, but after beating it out of bowser junior we learn that they're not doing this on their own volition. You kinda team up (bjr just doesn't bother you anymore) and then you beat it out of bowser at the end of the game. He realizes that "oh crap that was a mistake" and just burns the nightmare flowers, but that just secretes a giant cloud of nightmare smoke (i suppose) and then we fight the smoke in the form of a giant cloud monster or something while bowser helps us out. Boom, the end, the flower kingdom is saved and the protags go and have a picnic or something

Would it be OK if you can make another Super Mario Bros Wonder theory video talking a bit more about this strange caterpillar companion that was with Mario and the group at the flagpole? So far, from what I’ve been hearing from a ton of sources online, many people are speculating on this caterpillar to actually be the worst guy in Super Mario history; Prince Haru. For some people who don’t know who Prince Haru is, he was in the Japanese 1980’s animated Mario film, who originally was a somewhat like a caterpillar-dog creature, at the end of the film, he turns back into a human and reveals that he’s actually engaged to Princess Peach leaving Mario to be heartbroken. Pretty much nowadays people consider him to be nothing but a pure ***hole in the Mario franchise, and mostly prefer to forget about him in general. I personally pretty much like to prefer him to be like Peach’s ex-boyfriend or even like for him to be her brother or any type of relative.

I feel like the dream-like elements suggest the return of Wart. Also, there’s some Arabian influence to the visual design that tracks with that as well. It would be really cool to see that character return again.

I personally think that the game is going for an environmentalist approach in which they're trying to pollute the kingdom. This goes along with your theory. Maybe the reason why daisy is here is because she has flower powers and can save the kingdom.

Hear me out,it's kamek,think about it,why the flower kingdom all of the sudden?and have you ever wondered why bowser and Bowser Jr look like that,what colors are they?green,purple,and blue.the same color palette as kamek!and look at bowsers eyes on the flying base,they look like the cartoonish hypnotized eyes.and the flower kingdom has great magic,the wonder flowers,to someone like bowser,this would be worthless,but to a magician who understands magic very much,this would be very valuable.and kamek can definitely hypnotize people,if he can make Bowser grow and make monsters,he can hypnotize people,kamek might be the big bad,just a theory though.

Going with the Wonderland theme of this game, does this resemble the Cheshire Cat? I would say the smoke of the Caterpillar, but the caterpillars seem to be friendly in the game, even hitching a ride on Mario in one shot of the trailer. I would’ve liked to see a Bowser Casino to fulfill the playing cards villain theme, but this is cool too.

(Theory) It could be Fawful from Bowsers inside story because he uses poisonous gas with his head gear helmet. Maybe fawful created these foggy gas creatures with his purple gas and he uses it to hypnotize Bowser and his minions to get revenge on Mario and also conquer the flower kingdom.

I theorise that *Demon King Ganondorf* will probably be the main antagonist of Wonder like he was in Tears of the Kingdom, given that the things that would normally represent Bowser, such as that airship resembling Bowser’s face and Bowser Jr., seem to be leaking a shadowy cloud-like substance that resembles a bit like the *Gloom* often associated with Ganondorf. Probably Ganondorf was controlling Bowser from behind the scenes…

I have 2 theories: Theory 1: Bowser may be the true villain of the game and have spreaded magic to the Mushroom Kingdom and turned it into Flower Kingdom. Theory 2: The big purple cloud with a crown may be the true villain of the game and Bowser may be the penultimate boss and the big purple cloud with a crown the final boss.

There is a decimal mark on the purple coins during the bowser jr fight which is only there when a wonder flower has been activated so the dark power bowser has possessed might just be wonder flowers.

My guess is that this game takes place in a reimagined Sarasaland and Tatanga is the main villain. It would explain maybe why Daisy is playable in the game. Also the second last boss in Mario land is a cloud. So it could be that these clouds are his minions? Perhaps bowser is being controlled by Tatanga? This is just my personnel theory though

This is such a freaking cool theory I hope it's real. That also explains why Bowser Jr. was swapping between growing and shrinking him and Mario, if he was in full control then he'd use that power to only his advantage and just make Mario smaller and himself larger for the entirety of the fight. What I'm also hoping for is that once we defeat Bowser or Bowser Jr. we gain control of their Airship and gain access to some new worlds that were otherwise inaccessible. Really hyped to see where this all goes :D

But we don't need villains like Dark Matter suddenly crossing into other series. If Bowser is not the villain, this is a new entity entirely that has NOTHING to do with Dark Matter.

My theory is that Mario Bros Wonder is the Mario universe's rendition of Kirby's Dream Land, specifically in Kirby's Adventure. It could be that nightmarish purple storms have taken over the Flower Kingdom and surrounding areas the same way Nightmare spread his influence across Dream Land before Dedede broke the Star Rod. Bowser could be in possession by that storm, which I dub the Clouds of Nightmares, and their leader, which I dub Cumulo-Nightmare, the same way Dedede was in possession by Dark Matter in Kirby's Dream Land 2, 3, and 64: The Crystal Shards. Mario and co would have to defeat Bowser and his minions first to have Cumulo-Nightmare ascend to its true form.

I think the theory near the end of the video, that the “Wonder” and the “Corruption” are opposing forces, is the most plausible. That being said I don’t know if there’s any explicit connection to dreams, I just imagine that the two forces allow one to bend the rules of the universe, but “Wonder” spreads joy and sides with the Mushroom Kingdom while “Corruption” spreads fear and sides with (or controls) the Koopa Kingdom. Also, by “forces” I acknowledge that I don’t know yet whether there are any living entities or even armies behind them or if they are just literal powerful forces.

Maybe this bowser and bowser Jr reaction to the wonder seed and the energy it produces sort of making them mad with power when they first can to this land creating a flying castle so find more wonder seeds and these black smock like enemies are the result of the pollution left after the air ship

I personally think this might just boil down to who are we gonna fight in boss battles, aside from Bowser and Bowser Jr. Maybe that's why the Koopalings never appeared in the trailer. Of course until we get another trailer or two all we can do now is... "wonder".

Maybe mario and the gang need to save bowser. The game could open with them going to the flower kingdom for vacation or to meet up with daisy who's there to, when sudenly bowser trys to catch both princesses but jr, bowser and maybe the koopalings gets corupted by the clouds

I wish Bowser wouldn't even be in the game like whenever we do get an new villain Bowser is always like possed or working along side the new villain or Bowser army gets taken over or Bowser the villain for an little bit then he isn't I'm just so mad that we see something related to Bowser in every mainline Mario game
