Watching this reminded me to be more gentle with my hair. Last year I was using a detangling brush, this year I'm not because my hair is so much thinner.😢

I stopped using a Detangling brush as well. When I watched my videos back I realized it was so much more work than using a wide tooth comb. I also got a little breakage. Sometimes simple is better 🤷🏾‍♀️

Yes! Creating a space for peace is essential. I always take my time because my hair will definitely break if I'm not gentle with it. I used to dread wash days; now they're one of my favorite days of the week! ❤

I love the way you say "hair" 😀 I think this hysteria about hair damage has got way out of control. If your hair is still on your head and you can put it in a style that's acceptable for you, isn't that enough? It is in the real world, where there is also war, cancer, homelessness, unemployment, addictions... Split ends do travel but have you ever seen one more than a couple of inches long?

I kept getting mid shaft splits. I would moisturize and keep my hair in twists, and they reappear, even after cutting it.

Sometimes they happen during the detangling process…it could be so many things. If you can - get a good cosmetologist to assess it. Many times they can tell what’s going on just by touching the hair, asking questions, and looking at it.

I have that small area of breakage at the front of my hair too. Will give the protein treatment a try. I want to go for trim but I don’t know who to trust or go to 🥴. I have a lot of hair. Great vid though!

Does the blow drying damage your curls?
@LaToyaEbonyHair
@LaToyaEbonyHair 6 ай бұрын
Blowdrying has never damaged my curls. I don’t do it often and I always use a heat protectant and make sure my hair is deep conditioned beforehand. Everyone’s hair is different, but I recommend making sure your hair is in a healthy, hydrated state before using any direct heat.

Toya I need help knowing my hair texture and it feels impossible! I’m 11 (going on to 12 in a couple of months) and I don’t know wha my hair texture or pattern is and I wanna learn how to take care of my hair cause my mom never taught me. So here’s the details: When my hair is wet it’s like idk 3c-4a looking. Taking it out of the water sprinkling down it shrinks really fast looking like how 4c shrinks with a mix of 4b When completely dried looks like 4cish 4b in the front In the back I have a mix of 3b-4a hair After taking out my braids I have curly looking hair within half my head looking 3b and the other half 4b I put Cantu curl activation cream and my hair was kinky looking no coils. So now 8m confused cause when my hair is 100 percent dry it’s 4c looking.

Hey love 👋🏾 First I want to commend you for taking the time to learn your hair. I know how challenging it can be to figure things out. For hair typing it's helpful to simply know the range 3c/4a 4b/4c only because it will give you an idea of the kind of products you should use. The tighter your curls the heavier your products can be (usually). I base my curl pattern on what it looks like wet. So based on what you've said it sounds like you have 3c/4a hair. ☺️
