I've heard a lot of people talking about having roof water leaks in their RV around the MaxX Air air roof vent and their WiFi Ranger/Antenna and wanting to know how to stop the water from entering their RV.
Well I made this short video that may be helpful to you now or in the future on what to look for and what to do. You will be surprised when you see what I found.

Great vid. I pulled my max air cover to look at the seals. Mine was dicored up the attachment points like you did. The kotter pens we dicored in. I was cussing that. But hindsight probably a good thing. Another good trick for those wifi ranger wires is to tie a short little piece of string on the wire, right were the wire curves to go horizontal. That becomes a drip leg. The water running down the wire will drip off the string, before it ever gets the the wifi ranger housing

Thanks Mike for the great video. I had both leaks on my new to me 2021 Micro Lite. I had already figured out where the dripping water on our microwave was coming from and sealed the WiFi Ranger. But my first attempt on the bathroom fan vent failed. After watching your video, my second attempt was a success.

We have the same exact model and the same leak in the bathroom fan. Really appreciate this video. On a side note, I replaced the standard vent over the couch/Murphy bed with a Maxx Fan and to my surprise there wasn't any butyl tape (primary sealant before Dicor). Instead these geniuses used automotive windshield sealant (I've replaced a windshield that's how I know). It was still soft and not cured and a huge mess to remove. Unbelievable.

Great video we have a 2109s and had both issues. I fixed the max air fan vent last year based on another video i found. The wifi ranger is complete junk. I tried repairing it in the same manner you suggested last year and today all the mounts finally shattered and it was upside down on the roof. I am lucky it did not fly off on a car as it got wedged between the latter and vent cover. Not sure it is a torking issue with this unit the plastic is really inferior and thin to handle the wind load etc during travel. Last year i reached out to the wifi ranger manufacturer and they no longer make this model but they would not admit a quality issue rather hey we will give you a discount on anew one. Tomorrow I am pulling it out and sealing the hole until I can get Forest River to fix it.

Thanks so much for watching and commenting Mike. I wish these problems had been addressed at the factory instead of with the customer having to take care of the problem. I agree the WiFi ranger is junk because it is built so poorly. When I was on the roof looking at the whole set up I was thinking this Wifi Ranger is asking for trouble and could easily break from driving in high winds or even if a low lying branch brushes against it. Do you have a link to share here of the new WiFi Ranger they are replacing it with? www.youtube.com/@thetraveltrailerguy/videos

Hello MIke. I responded to your other video about the leaks we had. We bought our Coachmen new. One day while we were camping in the summer, it was raining outside. Water was dripping from the inside of the roof air-conditioner. Silly me, I thought it was condensation. The next day when we were running the AC, it was dripping again, this time no rain. I took it back to the dealer and the tech said it wasn't condensation. The air-conditioner was so loose on the roof, he could almost turn it sideways!!! You have to love how they put these things together!!

Mike I will be checking out our Ranger/Antenna this weekend. I think there is a small problem but the water that we found was from the Ion Hurricane and 40 mph winds. No water since, but still there could be a crack in the plastic. Great and informative Video

Unbelievable that I have a Mini-Lite 2109s. Exact same leak over the microwave, had it in 3 times for a repair in the first year, finally the dealer found the leak in the antenna, what a poor set up. Next we had a leak coming in from the inside of the front vent, could not figure out where this was coming from, sure enough, its from the small holes where the pins go in to hold the roof vent cover.
@thetraveltrailerguy

Thanks for watching and commenting :) It amazing how cheaply made these WIFI Rangers/Antenna's are. I did the temp repair until the could get it in a shop to replace the unit under the 1 year warrantee as you can see in the video. Well after a the WIFI Ranger was replaced with a new one it failed the same way after a few months and its sad because the owners only went on a couple camping trips close to home. By the time the second one failed the warrantee had expired they are on their own with replacing it with a different unit. The really sad news that we just found out the other day that so many of these WIFI rangers have failed that they were being replaced with another type that is much better under some type of recall and the dealer should have installed the new type instead of putting the old style unit on the roof. Another sad thing is that the owner of the trailer was not notified of this. I found out that the Rangers were being replaced with a new unit on some FB pages but the replacement of these expired in January 2023 and the owner of the trailer and many others were never notified of this replacement they could have received.

I just asked my friend that owns the trailer and she said that so far they have only used the WiFi Ranger on the one that broke and it worked well. They have not used the antenna for the TV on the broken one (I guess they don't watch TV much). She said on their next camping trip they will try them both out and let me know how they work. Sorry I can't answer your questions on the old one that was replaced :( If I had this same set up and it happened to me I would be able to answer your questions better. Question...When you put the Dicor down on the front screw area and the crack, why wasn't Dicor applied to the back screw area? Even if it wasn't leaking, I'd applied it to all contact points just to be sure of no leaks.

@@USNavyAR5 Okay I think I understand what you are saying. If you are saying why didn't I apply Dicor around the side screws before putting the top back on I didn't feel it was necessary since the screw holes (brass) did not go all the way through. The screw holes are only as deep as the screws themselves with a bottom so water cannot penetrate there. I hope this answers you question.
