I spent nearly half of my life being fat and overweight. I lost 35kg last year and this is what I have to say. If you get offended because your friend out of nowhere calls you fat, it's justifiable, because you never asked for their opinion and it's not their place. If you get offended because your doctor tells you that you need to lose weight, you're 100% in denial, because you are going to them for health advice and are ignoring facts because your ego is upset
@elinat2414
@elinat2414 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I agree! Making negative comments out of nowhere (whether about body size, hair, outfit, manner of speech, whatever) is just really rude and hurtful. I don’t care if someone has a negative opinion, but it’s completely unhelpful to say it aloud and just brings down the mood. But medical opinions, by nature, are meant to be objective. It’s not about whether the doctor thinks you look fat or not, it’s about whether your weight puts you at risk of certain diseases. They have a duty of care to tell you this.

See with that I have to personally somewhat disagree. Where I agree with pretty much everything else, I do still feel like if your friend mentions your weight, then it shouldn't always be taken to offence. Now am I saying they should just call you fat or insult you, no absolutely not, unless you have that type of friendship in which you joke around and insult each other, but that's an entire other can of worms. But if they say it out of concern, even if you didn't ask for their opinion, sometimes you need to hear it from a friend, because they're concerned for you. Obviously as mentioned before, there is a way to say it without being rude, but personally, I feel like a friend shouldn't be afraid to be honest with you or provide you hard truths, because that's what a true friend would do. Tell you something you NEED to hear, not WANT to hear.

I'm a 43 year old gen X Canadian and I remember a time when we did national fitness in school (maybe they still do) and kids would earn gold, silver and bronze badges based on how well they scored. I remember one year (I think it was grade 3) and I was getting over an illness (scarlet fever if you can fucking believe that shit) when the fitness time came round. I did poorly and didn't even earn a bronze however, they had that year gotten some red ribbons made up for all the losers and kids with asthma so they would feel good about themselves or some shit. I was mortified to be singled out for one of these badges of mediocrity and I immediately fired that shit right into the trash along with all the other kids who didn't enjoy this badge of failure being handed out. The next year was a different story, I got a silver badge and the teachers never tried that bullshit with the red ribbons again.

Saying her platform is about body positivity is an admission that she's aware of her careers adversity. It means she knows she's going to attract attention. People now days are too comfortable and we often change when we’re uncomfortable, I remember in grade 6 getting into a debate with my teacher about how participation awards invalidate 1st place, I got detention. 15 years later worked in a school and participation awards still exist but now detention is called re-think, 😆 I think the government and older generation are to blame for their failing sudo social science.

The manscape ad was a beast, I could probably do with some of this stuff. Homeless people have started coming up to me in the street and asking me questions. Not the normal ones, like I expect, more familiar than that, like "Alright mate, where's Johno, haven' seen him all day" It is getting a bit unsettling!

As a woman who's been obese from as long as I can remember, even overweight as a child, I 100% agree with everything you've said Isaac, I've always hated Tess Holidays messages, I was sick for my entire youth and missed out on so much because of my weight let alone all the illnesses I had that were perpetuated by being overweight - I had the excuses, I had the diseases and syndromes that made it harder to lose weight, virtually impossible even, including being actually allergic to food (my body treats food as a "foreign body" and tries to expell it, and if it can't expell it through vomitting, all my digestive organs swell with layers of fluid that can add up to 10-15kgs of weight) after finally biting the bullet and going through Weightloss Surgery I have gone from my heaviest weight of 165kg to now 84kg at 25 yrs old, I knew that if I didn't tackle my weight now I would be doing irreversible damage, and even now, eventhough I have halved my weight, I have horrible joint pain, my spine, knees and hips are fxcked, I have problems with my reproductive system which means I don't know if I'll ever be able to have children still, I'm hoping that because I've tackled this somewhat young I have still got time to fix these issues and build my body back to an even healthier position, but all this was caused from years of being overweight despite eating healthy and exercising often throughout my youth, in saying all that I've never believed Tess when she said she works out and eats healthy everyday, coz if she did she wouldnt look like that, no matter how long it took she would have lost weight over the yrs, as I did too just always came straight back or couldnt lose past a certain amount, and as for anorexia, I don't doubt she had an eating disorder, but if she was truly anorexic her body would've started eating its fat away and she would still have lost weight, she's is 100% a woman making excuses, posts all this shit about her body online for the whole world to see but when someone comments on her health she lashes out and says her medical history and health is noone else's business - uhm ma'am you're preaching this shit to vulnerable young girls and trying to teach them that it's okay to be morbidly and deathly obese on the public spaces over the Internet, you're making it everyone's business.. and no, your message is not fxcking okay - Isaac you're spot on here and I hope Tess wakes the fuck up and does something for her own health soon, if not for herself for her damn son too ...

You're almost half your heaviest weight. Thats incredible! Be proud, a lot of people never get that far even without the diseases and illnesses you have. I been underweight for a lot of my life due to health problems and i have joint pains and stuff too, it happens, can be unrelated to weighr. Hopefully your reproductive system will be fine in the future. Good luck with staying healthy 🐱

I've come to realise through my interactions in life that anyone that has tattoos all over their bodies is usually damaged and not a healthy person to be around unless they've put in the effort to deal with their past trauma. It's a nice easy way to identify someone that is 90% likely to be a negative influence in your life. They are never what they initially portray themselves to be and it seems to be a coping mechanism for some crap they've gone through. But I wish them the best, but it is a pretty clear sign as far as I can see. 15 out of 15 so far. And Tess Holliday is a fine example.
