To me I strongly feel like wats wrong, park, and Bday are all one stream of consciousness that Isaiah has while getting drunk. In wats wrong he’s sober and feeling manic and anxious and is describing what’s wrong with him. Then in his second verse, he starts mumbling to signify he’s started drinking. Park then comes on and he’s super energetic and very confident which exemplifies that liquid confidence a lot of people get when drinking and on drugs. Lastly Bday comes on and he’s totally wasted. Can barely pronounce words, saying the liquor is talking to him, and briefly reminiscing about a girl who had left him. Bar none one of, if not, my favorite album

TLDR: THIS IS AN ALBUM THAT WILL MAKE SENSE IN A CRISIS AND WILL BE YOUR CRUTCH TO REJUVENATION The first time I listened to this album I hated half of it. A lot of it felt disjointed and scattered. I felt like Isaiah was just releasing an album of songs he had for a deadline from his label. A couple weeks later, I had an accident, lost two people who were really close to me and started dealing with substance abuse. Sitting in my car with an eviction notice on my lap and a couple empty beer cans under my drivers seat, I got to the meaning of this album. Its a journal from a man who was battling with substance abuse, along with a numerous amounts of problems and responsibilities. From hearing the record at a down point in my life, I heard a man who is being cooked alive by the pressure and complexity of modern life and being driven by his yearning to want to transport back to simpler times (Hence the title being "The Sun's Tirade" and the cover art being his childhood dream car) Isaiah is an honest man when it comes to his life and prepares his lyrics as a stream of thought; his songs will evolve to mean many different things to you throughout this album. Unlike Cilvia demo, where he attempts to position himself not as the next up and coming rapper with more talent to offer, he comes off as a friend or cousin of your childhood, who only wants to offer purity and honesty to his listeners. While Cilvia was meant to be a hook that attracted fans, the Sun's Tirade is a project that was meant for you to live with, "songs to get you home, my nigga" As a black man born and raised in Canada, I can't necessarily say I've gone through the same issues as Isaiah, but I can say that this album helped me get through my own and I'm thankful for that. As well, I am thankful for you reading this comment, through the countless others that bid for your attention ❤️.

Brenda was a song that changed my life. One of those songs i'd give anything to hear for the first time again. Loved the reaction and the honesty. I actually preferred the suns tirade over cilvia demo. The hardest thing for an artist to do is subconsciously make people think. I listened to this album for a long time as a vibe album but there is so much to dig into and extract throughout the whole body of work and it feels like you're rewarded for listening harder each time. Whether intentional or not the fact that there are so many points where it is very ambiguous gives me this feeling of numbness which is what i always come back to with this album, it's just so much easier to numb the pain because then i don't have to face those internal and external barriers. But the times where he dips in out of consciousness writing wise is beautiful. An incredible contrast between wanting to change and be better and just fucking giving up and completely succumb to an environment of drug and alcohol abuse. Though I cannot relate directly to that, it made me feel so close to that and on a second level i think everyone at some point in there life deals with wanting to go one way but being pulled into another. Love this album, love this reaction, love Isaiah. This album gets better with time.

Among other things, I always loved the Find a Topic tie in with the Dave Free outro. Jon this is my favourite album of all time. I wasn't even sure what I thought about it during my first entire listen, but took a year for me to fully understand, and cherish it as much as I do. I would love to see what you think of this album in a couple of months after giving it some time while reading, creating, resting, etc.. A fantastic album to really get lost into, I find it's emotional impact comes from its imagery and instrumentation rather than Cilvia's more direct telling of events. Thank you for this video!!

I think this album hits way harder for the people who have heard his whole discography including his scrapped project turned fan-made "pieces of a kid." In pieces of a kid you hear from him how he copes unhealthily through his alcohol and drug addiction. Cilvia you hear more of his background and what lead to him feeling like dipping into his addictions and questioning everything around him. And in this you hear a near broken man contemplating whats even keeping him going, and figuring that out while healing himself. His addictions almost had him dropped from TDE which is what those cuts are layered throughout the album. As a stand-alone project it doesn't hit as hard as if you use context clues from hearing his earlier music. His music is just a whole road of him figuring himself out and learning to deal with his issues in a much more healthy manner than getting fucked up to forget it.

Unfortunate that you didn’t have quite the connection with TSTas you did with Cilvia Demo. I think CD is the better album but not by much, but I will say I think TST grows on you a bit more. As you said, it’s a lot more all over the place but I think there’s a lot of beauty in that when you dig a bit deeper into the lyrics and meaning. And he’s also very aware of his lack of singular focus here, thus naming the final song “Find a Topic”. I think that’s a way of showing he knows he’s better when he’s clean/not dealing with substance abuse, but this album depicts the hard road to getting there. Regardless, I’d love to hear your thoughts on: Earl Sweatshirt - Some Rap Songs (1yr anniversary of it was yesterday!) Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata Noname - Telefone

react to mick jenkins the waters mixtape! incredible the way he keeps the ocean water theme throughout with deep murky bass line that sound like they came from the bottom of the seas to the literal ocean samples.

I hate using this phrase but you have to let this album grow on you. I wasn't able to fully appreciate this album until maybe a year later. I wouldn't say it is outright better than Cilvia Demo but I am able to appreciate it on a different level (the adventurous production and singing namely). I now absolutely love the album and have it in my top 10 Albums ever. Favourite tracks are For Da Squad, Wats Wrong, Park, AA (favourite song), by George outro and Find A Topic.
