One Piece world is better than Superhero world.

I love One Piece! I think with American comics there is too much focus on collectibility… with manga it’s all about story and that’s why comics fail

The question isn't "What can the comic book industry do to improve their sales?" but rather: Do they want to improve their sales? They have had all the time in the world before this point, They could have tried anything and everything. But they just sat in contentment in the same place doing the same thing and waiting for Hollywood to bail them out.

Aside from One-pieces impressive manga sales, its merchandise is another beast! If you can, you may want to do a video on the most profitable Japanese Franchise! Pokemon, Gundam, Onepiece, Fist of The North Star, Lupin, etc have some pretty PHENOMINAL franchises that brings in the big bucks!

Hey, Dante. Yes, by all means, post-Covid, check out Japan! They have literally everything over there...usually in a vending machine! I have no interest in current comics anymore, so I'm going back to the ones I love, and shelling out for the really cool DC Absolute Editions. Hopefully, the news that a manga comic is outselling Bats will give them a kick in the arse enough to wake them out of their lofty stupor, and instil some inspiration for hungry new talent out there. Comics in the status quo are a stodgy, staid affair, with everyone being happy enough that their names and the character's name on the comic is enough to guarantee a sale. It happened back in the 70's, and we got punk, so hopefully there will be a happy end for comics fans out there. Patience is indeed a virtue, but it's no longer one of mine with comics, anymore. :( Definitely a First World problem!

I knew that one Piece will surpass Batman. It just took 24 years to do so. I remember back in 2005. There small store in the mall and owner started to sell manga books. It was a very small section, because most of the manga are pre-own/second hand own. Then I started to see anime merchandise in the same store and they are not the cheap one. Right then I knew once anime started to pick up more steam in the U.S . I know that the manga will follow right afterward. I love Batman, but I cannot lie. One Piece storylines/world building is better than Batman. I'm so invested into One Piece that I don't want it to end, but it's going to end in 3 to 4 years. I'm going to be sad and happy at the same time when One Piece do end.

Yeah I remember hearing about the Straw Hats stealing Batman's Booty! Now, Luffy and the gang are still a little under Superman Sales, but its still a fantastic feat! Quick Dante! Bring out the Grog for our heroic Pirate Crew!!!!

This is an a wake up call for the industry of comic books I don’t know what will be.

I think its rare case in this one cuz one piece is pretty special. The next manga series is at 250- 300 mil copies. No other manga wdve able to pull that off. Now that doesn't mean comics industry isn't declining lol after that Demon slayer thing lol

Im with you, I miss the newsstands. If youre not visible and youre overpriced for new books then you fall behind. Batman has good writing and artists but just not reaching kids and new readers. They are more collectors items and not read as much. Hope that this changes

HOLY SHIT- SHIT- SHIT-.... P.S. One might have outsold the other, but both Batman and One Piece have their place in pop culture as serialised written entertainment juggernauts. Helps the former has a long career in movies and TV and that the latter has one of the longest running Anime TV Shows to its name. Really, the main reason WHY One Piece outsold Batman is because DC is in a bit of a dork age right now, so people would be more willing to support work that is ACTUALLY diverse rather than Bipartisanist tripe.

Like many commenters here I agree… I have been transitioning to more manga too… I really don’t think dc and marvel care about the fact japan is kicking their asses because they have their heads so far up their asses

Comics are gonna have to hire some talent that not only loves the medium but actually care. They don't have to use their platform to express agendas or should at least be monitored if that happens.

For one thing Comic Book Creators will have to get creative in there delivery system. Not like Bad Idea, but every time I am in the grocery store all I see in the damn isles are magazines about Brad freaking Pitt or who the hell is on a “new diet”. Come on man. Be super creative!!! How about some $1.99 offerings. Or some content that appeals to the younger generation and some for the older. I like the black and white drawings for stories. Maybe just a page or two with some color non sexual pinups. TMNT has some cool ones. What about comics wit real life situations instead of out of this world magic mushroom 🍄 shit. (Not that there’s anything wrong with it). The Manga is popular because they know how to get the young kids hooked on reading. But also the pages flow like a real movie. My granddaughter in one of them. Anyway someone will figure this out eventually. The maker will dictate. Nice vid Dante.

The bottom line, hard truth is this: American comics can NEVER succeed. Just as American TV can never succeed... actually to be fair it should not be American comics/tv, it should be "American STYLE comics/tv". The reason is simple, and I will spell it out here for everyone. Asian Comics, and television serials are different from their American counterparts in One EXTREMELY PARAMOUNT way (and many other minor, moderate, & major ways)❗ That difference is simple. They set out to tell one CONTINUOUS story, a story that progresses into the future linearly. Furthermore, their dramas are written in complete "wholeness", they have a complete script of a fully developed story. They are entirely similar to American FILMS(movies, not tv shows). They set out to tell you a complete story in a complete Universe, and before filming even begins ~ The story is already complete. They do not intend to lead you on forever. They do not intend to write, write, & write until they can WRING ~ EVERY LAST COPPER-FUXKING-PENNY out of our hands. They do not "wing it" on a hope and a prayer, they do not leave you hanging while they conjur up new bullshit, and horse shit storylines. They set out to tell a story, EXACTLY LIKE A NOVEL DOES, and only if the world & 💲💰💱MONEY💱💰💲 making potential DEMANDS it ● AND ONLY THEN● Do they even think about producing a sequel. EVEN THEN. Even when they do decide to do a sequel. If the prior story was complete, and had no logical way of continuing without treating the viewers as mindless 📺 TV📺 consuming 🧟‍♂️ ZOMBIES🧟‍♀️ ~~ Then they DO NOT produce a DIRECT sequel. NAY, they produce a side sequel, a parallel story with the same cast, and in the same vein. That my friends, IS ALL ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍💞

Could never get into manga. I respect it as an art form but it just doesn't have the depth and variety in art and storytelling that comics do. Not really a fair comparison though because manga is just one country as opposed to comics which draws from the entire globe (including Japan as well).

Breakdancing is going to be in the Olympics whereas American football can't get a sniff. Certain craziness can not be explained. With Manga all the art looks the same all the males are androgynous looking and there is a childishness to the stories. If that appeals to today's easy going generation so be it. I enjoy being able to distinguish the art of Alex Toth from Ross Andru.
