I could buy Richard's argument about movies if he didn't do the exact same thing with comics. Seriously, I don't think the world needs another video bitching about Heather Antos or Vita Ayala. At this point, he's the only one still talking about them.

My only beef with Zack's take is that when it's something that HE doesn't care about, he deems it silly. But he will do the exact same kinds of criticism every time what he calls a "baby-brained imbecile" makes a comic book, as if this hasn't been going on for a decade.

It's also easier to just stop reading comics altogether if they are not enjoyable rather than complaining about them. So many problems could be solved if people who are mad about Comics simply stopped reading them and go read One Piece instead.

I think that the best kind of criticism that all of these culture warriors can give is "Here's how I would have made this story in a way that is good to me." Instead of mindlessly saying how much something is bad and making ridiculous thumbnails about how everything is a disaster, tell us what you would have done different. Sometimes getting a smaller budget is a blessing in disguise. Think of all the amazing movies which were made with little budget. As the saying goes: "Necessity is the mother of invention". Being invested in a franchise is like being trapped in one of those marriages where the couple have grown apart but they stay together and make each other miserable because they're scared of being alone, even though they'd both be much happier if they got a divorce and went their seperate ways. When I stopped enjoying new comics (around 7 or 8 years ago), I stopped buying them and started collecting all the old comics I'd missed out instead. It's the best collecting decision I ever made. I'm still spending the same amount on comics and reading about the same characters, but I'm actually enjoying what I'm reading, and both Marvel and DC were kind enough to give me two titles that work for me as definitive endings for those universes (Hickman's Secret Wars and Doomsday Clock).

While I somewhat agree with Zack about anti-sjw's being ridiculous many times doing mental gymnastics to find wokeness in everything, what really bothered me was one of his community notes where he actively begged people to unsub to his channel and said that he'd be glad when all those people were gone. You don't have to agree with their opinions or like them but, dude, you don't say those things to a big chunk of your audience and potential costumers, that Kelly Sue Deconnick moment that he had was what made me unsub, it wasn't funny, it wasn't fun. As hypocritical I think Zack, RLM and other critic channels are being when they say this, they are correct. I've personally been very apathetic with media in general, where even when I have free time, I have a hard time feeling a drive to enjoy a story. Most recent I've been having Dungeon Meshi anime as well as the new House of the Dragon season, but with so much out there I just feel lost. Feels like a chore really. KZfaq roasts and critics feel like some kind of substitute to enjoying media, where I get the summarized version and I don't need as much attention for it so it doesn't feel "wasted" or anything like that. I have recently started going through my backlog of Humble Bundle comics though, and there's been some fun. Recently finished Fairy Tail and while not the greatest shonen it was genuinely a fun read. Gonna get the new Cerebus bundle and finally read that from the beginning to the end. Only reached High Society last time I tried.

I agree with "just enjoy it". That's why I'm going back to read 20+ year old comics I missed, like the Diana Prince Secret Agent era of Wonder Woman which predates me reading the comic by a decade, instead of bothering with modern books (except the recent Barbarella). @@kevintanza6968 Having read the whole thing recently (and Rave Master before it, man Humble Bundle is great) what I've noticed is that he's Eichiro Oda but without the setup. He sets things up, don't get me wrong, but a lot of the time the emotional beats of the characters overcoming their challenges are literally "power of friendship" but in a banal way. Power of friendship should have some kind of material aspect to it, such as a character having learned a technique from a friend or got some kind of help in a battle etc. Most of the time in Fairy Tail it's having a character struggle, then decide to try a little harder and then they win. The last arc in particular fell prey to that since the new villains were so powerful and beat the heroes at first, but then the good guys won by just trying a bit harder.

Funnily enough he attacked the few KZfaqrs that actually gave Furiosa a good review, just because he wanted to blame somebody, when in reality so much was wrong with marketing and timing of that movie that it‘s more surprising somebody watched it at all. PS: I still don’t believe that Chris Hemsworth is supposed to be the major villain after I saw the trailer, it seems so unreal to „advertise„ a major villain by showing him already defeated in the trailer.

The issue is that there is barely any good content coming out. I do think the majority do want good movies, do want good comics they are just so jaded they don't believe these companies are capable of making anything good any more. We haven't lost the ability to enjoy things, a lot of these entertainment companies have lost the ability to make enjoyable content. We've gotten so few actually enjoyable bits of content that it's impossible to get excited with announcements and when something is actually good it's a surprise (Picard season 3 perfect example) instead people hear an announcement and express their pessimism because unfortunately in the past decade the pessimistic take has been the accurate one.

Something I think people miss is that these youtubers and people who comment are enjoying themselves through having discourse and do talk about shows they do like, its just people miss that because for the most part it is more focused on the negative criticism. Which can be good but obviously the problem is when we make more personal attacks that hold more wait like all the "-ism " people throw around. Then theres people like Zack which i think makes good points but they fall on deaths ear when hes making strawmen of everyone to make that point and its clear he just wants to enjoy whatever movie or show that catches his interest but cant because he cant ignore Anti -Ajw channels ? Like obviously Zack can talk about whatever he wants but its also clear he doesnt really want to engage with this side of criticism and just wants it gone but he cant help himself to continue to engage with it. Even with new star wars show he literally made a review after it came out to just say "Yeah, these anti-sjw channels got nothing to get at this week. " Insane behavior when you know Zack has only watched the first ep, ep 5 and 6 because he wasnt interested in the show but heard ep 5 was a fight episode and episode 6 just to get ahead of the other anti-sjw channels before they release there video on it.

May the 4th 🇺🇸 Be With You, Perch! I gotta novel for you you about the Prequels! Recently reconsidered my opinion on Star Wars' movies where previously the Luke "Father please" Vader redemption scene was my childhood favorite movie scene besides the Batman Mask of the Phantasm "I didn't count on being happy" and I read Obi-wan books when I was a kid but I lost interest in the movies (I liked the Star Wars gangsta rap more than the OG trilogy); however, still liked the Star Wars Episode 3 story conceptually, loving the novelization and also enjoyed the 2015 Paul S. Kemp Lords of the Sith novel from the new canon illustrating Anakin's enslavement to his fear and pride; 2003 Clone Wars, later episodes of the 2008 Clone Wars with Anakin, and I read almost every Star Wars comic on Marvel Unlimited. I never saw past Rogue One and it was my favorite Star Wars at the time since whatever my mind is currently engaged with is generally my favorite so, before that, Force Awakens was my favorite having a blast at the theater and, it might not surprise you, I loved being a chatterbox about it any opportunity! I was excited for the new cast seeing the new characters developed! However, and I only saw them once, I remember the Bourne trilogy being my favorite when I was younger and might never see those again, but recently got hyped thinking about the Star Wars prequel trilogy and I could watch over again because imo they were so conceptually compelling for a fun springboard imaginative sandbox with Jedis to return to! Episode I The Phantom Menace- The main protagonist faction is The Galactic Republic who, while still using artificial intelligence, rely on the guardians of peace and justice religious Force-wielding Jedi as well as the little guy, Jar Jar Binks and his fellow native inhabitants of the planet Naboo, the Gungans, for victory, who are happy to help the Republic when not looked down upon. The main antagonist faction is the Separatists who, while still using religion with the hate-filled powerlusting religious Force-wielding Sith (not well, since Darth Maul just stands there like a chump for our chum Obi-wan to take him out, and even before that, why didn't he slice up Qui-Gon when he dropped down by him? I could understand Obi-wan not using his Force dash move in the fight because maybe he was Force sensing something was up, but there wasn't much Maul character development so I'd think it would be all in just making him a, relative to the dark side of the Force, near perfect physical warrior, but I didn't see it. Perhaps, he wasn't as good of action figure, but, imo, Jar Jar Binks is a better character than Maul; however, out of context, Duel of Fates rocked), rely on Battle Droids/Artificial Intelligence for victory and fail Both sides are being manipulated by Chancellor Palpatine of the Republic, who is the lead Sith Lord Darth Sidious where he's working both sides to destroy the Jedi and Separatist leaders, including the Sith Lord Leader of the Separatist Army Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus. Episode II Attack of the Clones- The Republic, out of desperation to defeat the rise of the increased artificial intelligence technology used skillfully by The Separatists, ally with, though not necessarily supportive of the means, the manufacturing of human life through artificial reproduction, which is opposed to the traditional selfless loving union of husband and wife for life, which, former slave and orphan Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker (his slave mother gets murdered..and he takes revenge wiping them out, even the women and children of the murderers), a main Star Wars protagonist who later becomes Star Wars' primary antagonist, taking the Sith Lord name Darth Vader, is all for traditional marriage and does get married to former Queen of Naboo and then Senator, Padme, but is disobedient to religious Jedi code since they forbid it; however, it's sincere love so he might have been thinking he could be following the Jedi's principle of being against attachment and possession, which, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought maybe the Jedi developed it over concern over the division of heart/passion where they wouldn't be free to order their passion toward their vocation for peace and justice kinda like: 1 Corinthians 7:32-34 I should like you to be free of anxieties. An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is anxious about the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in both body and spirit. A married woman, on the other hand, is anxious about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. which eventually Anakin does enslave himself...to his pride, wrath, and lust for power. Also, in The Phantom Menace, Anakin's Jedi Master Obi-wan who brought him into the Jedi order told the lead Jedi Master, Yoda, that he would disobey Yoda to mentor Anakin to become a Jedi, due to Obi-wan's Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn leaving him with the duty to mentor Anakin into becoming a Jedi, before Qui-Gon was murdered by the Sith Darth Maul, and Qui-Gon wasn't the most straightforward honest guy and it shows later on in the next movie that other Jedi don't strictly follow their code, so maybe it wasn't such a strict code for Jedi to work with, and/ or they're flawed people. Oh, and Anakin becomes a cyborg to replace his arm which was chopped off in battle with Count Dooku. However, I guess if you agree with Elon, he and everybody were already cyborgs because of their use of technology. That logic worked out for me as a kid! Someone broke my toe while playing soccer, and I said he broke my leg since it was attached to it, and then I ended up with ice cream cake and my coach ended up with a car! jk Episode III Revenge of the Sith- The Sith Lord Chancellor Palpatine unites the Republic and Separatists into the Galactic Empire, using Order Sixty-Six to take away the Clones' free will, ordering them to wipe out Jedi, and Palpatine, after years of acting as a fake friend confidant for the passionate suffering Anakin, who is tormented fearing the loss of pregnant wife Padme dying in childbirth, convinces the poor soul to use his dark spiritual Sith ability to save Padme's life, and meanwhile, Anakin plots to overthrow Palpatine thinking from an ends justify the means point of view, thinking he can reform the Republic by forcing peace, which by the way, Palpatine eliminates the larger reliance on the more advanced artificial intelligence, and it didn't look like he's using artificial reproduction/cloning, just using whatever clones were already living, so he and Anakin's Empire appears similar to the earlier Republic from a materialistic perspective, but spiritually, the world is enslaved in darkness after Anakin's fall from grace where, on his quest for reformation for his prideful idea for peace and justice, he's so consumed with remorseless pride after murdering so many Jedi, including children training to be one, breaks his wife Padme's heart seeing all this devastation so...her children Luke and Leia, besides Obi-wan and Yoda, are some of the brighter hopeful lights left in the universe...they eventually, relatively, save the galaxy, where they, similar to in the Phantom Menace, work alongside native inhabitants Ewoks to help save the day, as well as with an awesome reformed mercenary Han Solo who they helped redeem, and Luke redeems his father Anakin to turn away from the Dark side. And I thought with Revenge of the Sith, George Lucas was inspired by another George, W Bush, with Anakin's "If you're not with me, then you're my enemy," but I think, taking the film for what it is, I don't think it's so much there where I think Anakin's fall from grace story could be interpreted as including a universal notion of corruption in the midst of troubling political times. Imo, it had metaphorical political appeal kinda like Captain America Civil War with Iron Man being more metaphorical big government and Captain America being more metaphorical for subsidiarity (I wore my Captain America shirt to the theater in support, even though Iron Man was my favorite character because of the redemption arc from the first Iron Man movie and RDJ's charisma.), but I think the Emperor is a more universal appeal villain to apply to any manipulative person such as a politician, psychologist, teacher, influencer, businessman, commentator, religious leader, etc. playing on the selfish passion encouraging enslavement to sin. I liked it because there was the Emperor's emotional manipulation with Anakin's pride (I appreciated in the novelization that Anakin took responsibility for it being about himself over Padme if I recall correctly); fantastic music and imaginative world; Hayden Christensen's facial acting tearfully looking out the window concerned over his wife being one of my favorite facial acting performances besides Maria Falconetti in The Passion of Joan of Arc and Liv Ullman in Autumn Sonata looking at her mom when playing the piano (also, I liked the moment in Attack of the Clones with his breakdown over getting revenge for his mother which helped inform his dark downfall); Yoda's admitting his pride; and I liked the "only a Sith deals in absolutes" line that people criticized because I thought it brought humanity to Obi-wan's characterization and the criticism of the line was, in a way, imo, making Obi-wan's point with the downfall of uncharitable rigid thinking, which I struggle with...and it's a reason why Revenge of the Sith is my favorite, even though I think A New Hope is the best!

I agree with Zach mostly, a lot of people on here almost enjoy when a show fails, they almost hope things to fail so people come to them to avoid it, I just want to enjoy stuff again with people online and have dumb goofy speculation on geek stuff

I love stories. I LOVE stories. I will check out anything with a story to some degree or another. From novels to video games. So for me personally it’s a disgrace when a movie or comic doesn’t give appropriate respect to a character. I understand needing to tweak things because you’ll never be the original writer, but a lot of these people don’t have any respect for these characters. I fight for these characters because they are an artist creation and a huge peace of history. Especially North American history. Art needs to be respected. History needs to be respected. That’s just how I see it and I’m not gonna toss in the towel because most people dismiss me. Or when I’m being an idiot.😅

I’m done with Zach’s channel, I unsubbed a while ago, far far too annoying. Letting things go is not something that he can do. The hypocrisy was so strong, the views he’s complaining about is the exact view he holds on comics.

I'm not unfollowing (frankly, bragging about unfollowing is kind of childish). That said, Zack can make as many posts or videos about Star Wars, I just don't have to watch or engage.

@@InfamyOrDeath-__- Maybe bragging was the wrong word, but my sentiment remains the same. I just don't like making a big deal about not watching someone I never knew personally anymore. Furthermore, there are people who do brag about unfollowing, and my comment wasn't meant to be aimed directly at yours. Sorry if this was too inflammatory, have a nice day, and happy 4th if you're in States!

The displeasure seems more prevalent because we don't burden our loved ones with the garbage that the mainstream tries to sell us, we do that online with strangers. The enjoyment of things that are good and great, that happens in our private lives with our loved ones.

In defense of Zack, I wasn't sure who he was calling out until he recently let on that it's Chris Gore, and then it made total sense. And I agreed. I followed Film Threat until a few weeks ago and then gave up when he wouldn't shut up with the Acolyte stuff, particularly "they changed the Force." (No, they didn't. They introduced a different sect of Force users who had a different take on it.) Look, I totally agree that it was bad for Disney to negate the EU in 2014, and the salad bar picking from it isn't helping. Also, it's basically true that Star Wars was reset in 2014 and the side stuff we loved no longer "counts." And, frustrating but true, Disney and Star Wars never loved us other than to the extent we gave them money. Zack and Gore might completely intersect on the Acolyte and other stuff being just plain bad storytelling. Gore is taking it to a very unnecessary level and I'd rather just put it down and read something else.

I'm not sure if he's riffing on the Drinker. It should be pretty clear that the Drinker is doing a bit in his primary videos (and I quit watching them accordingly).

The problem is even if you don´t watch news movies or redad new comics, they still can retroactively destroy the old stuff you liike, as they did with Luke Skywalker or the recent Punisher books. Ok, you don´t need to watch, but you don´t live in a cavern, you going to know what they doing and this give a bad taste when watching or reading the original stuff.

I used to be big into Star Wars where every new project had my interest. I love both the original and prequel trilogies, even if the latter gets a lot of flack for the writing. My favorite stuff, however, was in the video games like Knights of the Old Republic and Unleashed with Vader's Apprentice; even if this stuff was non-canon, it was still fun and wasn't trying to do weird stuff to the characters I grew up with. I want to enjoy the new stuff, but it just feels off and weird. I found the Force Awakens okay, but the best part of the film to me was the growing father-daughter relationship between Han and Rei which I was looking forward to seeing that develop; and yet, that was what was cut short. The Mandolorian seems like the only good thing from Disney Star Wars and it hurts to not enjoy this series as much as I used to.

I agree with most stuff propagated by the anti-woke, from CG to the Phantom Menace, but it’s been years since I unsubscribed to all of them. To me their cardinal sin is that they are redundant and BORING as hell.

As I have found other stuff that I enjoy tremendously, I don’t buy this new narrative of „it’s your fault for not enjoying all this bs“. I also have zero sympathy left for companies like Disney as they had by now a decade to course correct and still blame the fans. Yes, I do enjoy it, when their bs shows get torn apart by KZfaqrs and I don’t feel bad at all about it as they don’t even try to make something watchable. What Zack and also Perch sometimes don’t get: I‘m absolutely capable of enjoying good stuff and having fun when Disney burns, because watching people tearing The Acolyte apart isn’t 100% of my time. And Zack should stop being a petulant child over Furiosa flopping, when there are a gazillion reasons for it long before any KZfaqr made a review of Furiosa. That movie with that marketing at that moment in time had no chance and that’s not the fault of Critical Drinker at all.

Well your kinda right. Not likeing anything Disney puts out for whatever reason means you will pass on things you might enjoy. But even as big as Disney is you can actually never watch anything Disney makes again and still find something to enjoy. You can insult Arbys all you want, but there are plenty of fast food resturants. So should you be ashamed of all the videos you insulted Arbys? You audience captured hate channel.

@7:30 I couldn't disagree more. 2 of a thousand other instances doesn't make something true. My problem is that this is putting the ownus on the viewer and not the company who made it this way. The amount of leeway given to a property is proportional to the perceived "good" within said conpany/property. Take FF14. The prior expansion End Walker has a lot of holes, but despite that people did enjoy it because overall the property is seen as being good and the developers haven't crapped on the fans. The game itself is also fun, so people are happy to really think about ways where the lore can work. A big example is a time travel segment in EW. Realistically Venat killed many people when maybe she didn't have to. We have lore examples where this can be the case. However thinking about all the possibilities it is not impossible that these events became predestined to happen when we time traveled. People are willing to talk about this and still enjoy the property because again, it has been consistent and good. People are not giving Hillyweird a chance because time and time again, when given the keys to sucess, they friked it up. People are not willing to defend or consider other lore possibilities because they haven't done anything of note to earn that kind of trust or adoration. In short, there is a vote of "No Confidence" from the people. We have seen too many cases where changes are deliberately made for politics and not art or financial reasons. The bowl of skittles is poisoned, nobody wants to take a chace because it isn't worth the hassle. Now that the corpos have killed the audience, the only thing left is apathy and negativity. People are havingnmore fun tearing them down than lifting them up. A valid response to what has become of entertainment. The thing is they dont stop liking things or having fun. If that were the case Mario would have done poorly along to with spider Man and a few other films. People are still capable of enjoying things, but it will take many years vefire Hollwood can enjoy such a benefit from the common person.
