The pedal assist feature on electric bikes is amazing! It can help riders get up big hills, ride into the wind easier, and enjoy longer rides. But sometimes when the pedal assist on an ebike kicks in it can be jostling to a rider. When you have a cadence sensor for your pedal assist as soon as the sensor recognizes the pedals have turn the assistance kicks in. With a torque sensor it will gauge the amount of effort the rider is giving and more gradually engage the pedal assist. A cadence sensor e bike will almost always been less expensive than a torque sensor electric bike. Depending on how you are going to ride your electric either option works. If you are only using your pedal assist for long stretches on a straight path or up big hills, a cadence sensor will be just fine. If you are going to want your pedal assist on in a tighter space or hair pin turns, then a torque sensor will serve you better. Because a cadence sensor doesn't ease in to the assistance, that is why you'll feel the jolt. As you ride your ebike with pedal assist more, you'll start to get used the feeling and it will be come second nature.
