At $1.6 million, the Tour boasts the richest prize fund ever for a series of online chess events. Players from around the world compete to win 9 titles and the crown of overall Tour Champion. Nowhere else has this level of competition.
Players compete in 6 “Regular” and 3 “Major” online rapid chess tournaments spread out over the Tour season. Two Regulars will be followed by a Major with the pattern repeated until all are completed. Regulars will feature 16 players in a prelim round and then only 8 players qualify to the knockout. Majors will feature 8 qualifying players in a simple all-play-all format. Cash prizes are available for placings in each event. The player who finishes top of the Tour leaderboard will be declared the overall Tour Champion.

#suggestion The game Hansen vs Duda was a nailbiter! So many pieces in front of Eric's king, and he calmly pushes the passed pawn xD The game against Shakh: Even Peter Leko said, that there's no way Shakh is gonna lose this game, no idea how Eric turned that game around.

I guess we can see why the Alapin isn't as popular as it was in the 1970s. As with all anti-Sicilian strategies, black can always find quicker equality if he's willing to go for sharp continuations. This is what Magnus did. Offering up that c-pawn was briliantly thought out. Kosteniuk won the FIDE world cup last summer in the women's bracket. She is severely outmatched in this tournament, but I hope she can manage to tackle a customer soon.

Well when super GM's themselves sometimes don't survive making a slight inaccuracy against Magnus the result was a foregone conclusion . But kosteniuk is a beast in her own right . Last year she won everything in sight both in individual and team performances . Probably this year the universe is balancing that pitting her against some of the world's best . 🙂

Kostenjuk is ofc a great player there is no question about that , and she is better than most of us. But honestly speaking there is no point to allow her to participate in men's event. The skill difference between top males and top females is so big. She looks like an amateur in that event. People should admit that womans can never achieve men's level at chess. IT is a sad biological fact

Guess you are pretty young, in chess or age or both. Alexandra Kosteniuk was women chess champion 2008-10, she was European chess champion. (women), was the winner of the Swiss Chess Championship (open both women and men), right now she is 12 female in terms of raking (her heyday was 10 years ago , the she semi retired to have a family and returned).

I've dabbled in chess since around 2004/elementary school, but I didn't follow competitive chess until last year, so there are plenty of names I don't know.
