Finally got round to taking the HPI Savage brushless conversion out and wow!! Knew it would work as I've built many of these over the years, they never disappoint for the little investment required too. As always please rate, comment and subscribe for more.

gearing, I've used a 16t pinion with a 52t spur.
motor, 540 2200kv 5mm shaft

@@rcworxshop the diffs are so good? I have got one of these in a bulk-buy....should I do the conversion? The Body only says "Savage X"....does it mean it is smaller than yours?

You have to be a little bit careful with the diffs, yes the xl im using is about 2 inches longer and an inch wider, do it its an awesome little basher once done 👍🏻

Go on ebay. An puch in motor mount for electric conversion. But get a 2200kv motor. 6s battery..max 6 esc. An watch the power.

I came looking for info on this conversion and stumble on the Hilly House carpark. Is it easy to convert a Savage 25 to electric as well?

Electric is definitely faster and better but with a rc car this big nitro would always be a funner experience

I converted mine from 4.6. too electric. 2200kv. 6s. With hobby wing. Max6. Esc. Can't keep it on the ground. Too much power. But I haven't replace my trans. So I don't have reverse.

I've done it like that before so you can still use 2 speed and the disk brake 👍🏻👍🏻

You have to change the idler gear in the gear box, take a look through my videos, the conversion video is there with part numbers etc, thanks for watching matey, any more questions let me know 👍🏻

It looks like it coggs during startup from stop, is it solved when running on 5s-6s?

Yes its only as I was under powering it, it's only barly cogging on 4s it's all metal gears including spur makes it sound even worse, thanks for watching matey 👍🏻

Oh ok. Looking to make the same conversion to mine and I am still hesitating between a sensored or a sensorless combo. Probably I'll get the sensorless due to the price difference. Thanks for responding that fast! I guess also those big wheels doesn't help to eliminate the cogging! Do you have any reliability issues after converting it?

It's still running perfectly, yes go uncensored, some lighter wheels would be much easier on the diffs too 👌🏻 might have to make a bashing video with it soon 😏

Thanks matey it works a treat and doesn't cost the earth, worth nothing if its the older savage with the standard diffs its not worth putting anything more than 4s through it and to be fair its fast enough on 4s 👍🏻 your motor will need to be a 1/8 scale size with a 5mm shaft 👍🏻 mines the 2200kv

Not bad for a big old truck, didn't want to crank it up to much, the diffs on these old savages never too to well to a slow nitro engine let alone high torque brushless systems 👍🏻👍🏻

@@rcworxshop can you please send me a full list and links to all the parts as I am also in UK,and I have 2 X hpi savage that I would like to convert,as I was thinking in going petrol engine,but if you say that all together, electric engine, batteries and other parts are around 150 pounds,I can do it,have tools and have done loads of fixing and repairs on real cars :) Thank you!Have a great day!
