It's Almost Impossible To Strike Your Irons Without Doing This First

Without knowing this you will find it almost impossible to consistently strike your irons. Here's what you need to know 👇
1. Easiest way to improve your strike is by a simple change to your set up. this takes just 5 seconds and is the fastest way I know to improve you ball striking and your golf swing.
2. The golf swing is a circle but if your circle is always changing your chances of hitting consistent iron shots is almost zero. In this video Danny Maude gives you such a simple drill to maintain your circle and therefore the consistency of your golf swing.
3. Finally, tension is a killer to your golf swing. If you can learn to remove tension you won't just improve your strike but you will instantly hit the golf ball longer.
Here's the Practice Plan for this video

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.

I am 76 years old, a 7 handicap, been as low as a 1 handicap when I was younger. I am pretty much self taught, read books back in the days before videos, then watched hundreds of instructional videos, and I have to say, Danny is the best and easiest instructor I have ever watch. Makes things understandable, easy to replicate, and makes perfect sense. Thanks so much!

Love watching and learning golf with your lessons ! You make sure what you are explaining is easily understood . I have sliced the ball ever since i have played golf. Swinging over the top and not enjoying golf at all . Your method of teaching breaks down the swing into language and motions even a beginner golfer can understand ! I`m 67yrs old and after 30 plus yrs of trying all those band aids to correct my slice and contact. Your lessons i believe are the best way to communicate how to fix our golf swing in language we all can understand . Thank you for making me want to improve with the great videos and info you put out ! THANKS Danny .

Your explanation of both how and why are extremely helpful. They help with the mental part of the game. One thing I noticed in a recent video that I didn't understand is how far to stand from the ball on various shots. I didn't realize it was a variable. Might you cover that in a video? And how to do it--bending over more or reaching out further.

Great practice tips (as always) Danny! I appreciate you leaving in less than perfect shots and explaining what happened after! My coach got me in the habit of leaning the club forward a hit in the setup last year and it’s helped by iron strikes tremendously but the parts about how to think of the swing in a circle and lining the grass to see your consistency will really help me improve! Makes my practice sessions so much better! Now if I can get consistent on the course when switching clubs and swings every time I’ll have it made 😉

One of the best video lessons yet, reinforces where I’ve working in my swing. Have been seeing more consistent ball striking with predictable flight patterns. Also no where near the “stress” of trying to make sure I hit all the checkpoints! Everyone needs to “bake in” their pre-shot routine - make it automatic. I worked on that through the winter and coupled with relaxed control that you speak of here has proven itself in scores and overall enjoyment! Thanks for the solid lessons, mishits included!

Thanks Danny, makes so much sense but for some of us it’s very difficult to get this into our swing. My grip is so strong I’m literally strangling the club and my arms/shoulders so tense. I’m finding when I’m at set up and also ball strike I have so much going through my head it’s impossible.

Once again, your instructional videos are the BEST on KZfaq! Great graphics during the video really helps visualize what points you're trying to make. This video explains the #1 thing I'm working on this year: Striking the ball with my irons first, before taking the divot. One other tip I picked up (and was unaware of) is to keep my head over the ball during the backswing. I had a tendency to sway a bit backward with my head during the backswing. Once I was aware of this and corrected it, my divots started showing up after hitting the golf ball. And when this happens, the feel and ball strikes are like no other! 👍⛳

The last few years I have been trying to get better contacts and I stumbled upon thinking about a circle. The visual at the start of the video with the arc is what i envision before i start my back swing and i am coming a little inside path that makes me more connected with my right side. I have seen much better contact in the driving range. Now I have to take it to the course. Fingers Crossed.

I was surprised there was no mention of the thumbnail image in this lesson. I find the image of driving a nail at a downward angle versus an upward angle quite compelling. I've been working to compress my irons and am slowly getting it engrained into my swing. The difference this makes in terms of distance and consistency of ball striking is remarkable. Thanks Danny!

When I first started playing there was at my local range a large sheet of plexiglass tilted at an angle with a hole in the middle. They'd set on a driving mat and one would stand inside the hole and try to swing without hitting the Plexi during the back swing or follow through. I never used it but the image stuck with me and i endeavored to create that circle when practicing. Ben Hogan used that image too in his seminal book as does, obviously, Danny here. Keeping ones arms tight together - as if bound - is another Hogan fundamental reinforced by Danny. It's good to be reminded as we all stray from the path and the videos really help.

Outstanding video Danny! I'm 72 and have been plagued by inconsistent ball striking ever since I picked up a golf club 40 some years ago. About 6 weeks ago I began working on changing to the "Stack and Tilt" concept, which this video appears to define quite well. I work as a volunteer at a local golf course, so I have free access to unlimited practice and playing privileges on this course and two other affiliated courses. I've been practicing this exact concept for at least an hour or two everyday over the past several weeks and my ball striking is better than it's ever been. My average scores have improved from the mid to low 90's to flirting with breaking 80, which I've actually accomplished twice in the past few week with a pair of 79's. I always enjoy watching your videos and think you're, without question, one of best! I can attest that following the recommendations you put forth in this video will help others who have been struggling with consistent ball striking!

Hi Danny another great video. I loved the explanation at the beginning with the alignment rod bent into the plane. Very visual and better than a graphic. Excellent

Hi Danny I've been watching your videos for awhile now and have implemented some of your methods into my game. I found my driver is now going straight rather than slicing by simply moving the ball postion further back in my stance. Your video on watching where the ball goes really helped with that. Also this iron video has seriously helped with irons, they too are now straight. We play a lot of executive courses with par 3's where I use irons off the tee, could you please do a short video on those, please? Thanks so much for all your help!!

Great video- thanks! As a left handed golfer I like when you say trailing/leading foot or trailing/leading arm instead of right foot or right arm. That is a big help to lefties!

Great video, as usual...thanks for the instruction..can you please explain what part of the ball u are focused on while keeping ur head down through ur swing? Also, can you touch on how different shaft materials can factor into ball striking when switching clubs? Forgive me, in advance, if those questions don't mk sense..

From one Dan to another 😀👍 thanks. I'm one of those players that tensions up too much to the point that it been causing me injuries in my ribs on the trail side of my swing. If you have a video on golf injuries could you maybe link it under my comment or hopefully make one in the future, I'm sure there are others out there like me would be happy to watch and learn more. Thanks again.

I spent an hour and a half on the range today with full-swing wedges (P, A, 52, 50) prior to watching this video. I eventually got consistently hitting ball first. Wish I would have watched the video first. I would have saved some trial and error. I spent a lot of time with ball position and found I was too far from the ball. Getting closer allowed better control of the swing arc and hitting ball first. Grip pressure and "looser" arms allowed a better swing tempo. One thing that you really reinforced was the center hips/shoulder on the ball. It allowed better balance w/slight weight forward, which reduces that fat shot. Heading back to the range with your clarifications as soon as the rain clears. Thanks for your commitment to this channel.
