If you look at Ben White's press conference when he got called up to the England squad as a Brighton player, it's pretty clear it meant the world to him. Just cos you don't want to play for a certain manager and his team doesn't mean you don't want to play for your country.

A lot of people slamming Ben White need to look at how Southgate has operated, whilst in charge of England. He has shown to have his favourites and then play them no matter their form, or even if they are playing at all. Last season, Ramsdale was really good for Arsenal, and Pickford wasn't particularly great, yet Ramsdale didn't get any chance of starting. Maguire, for 2 seasons, was either playing awefully or not at all, but yet he not only gets called up but started as well. Tomori and a few other CBs (including White) didn't even get a look in. Phillips got called up when he barely played for City at all, and the likes of JWP again didn't even get a look in. Henderson. Way past his best, playing in the Saudi league was called up and again when he hasnt been great for Ajax. We have so many players that should be in the squad ahead of him. Even this international break. I like Ivan Toney and think he is good, but he hasnt played all season. Solanke has and has done really well, but yet again, no call up for someone who deserves it. We have so many great players, but Southgate doesn't give them the chance. It's not inspiring for players who have been playing really well but are constantly overlooked by players who are Southgates favourites. I think its a good thing White has said he doesnt want to get picked, just to end up not getting a chance in the squad, even though he has been playing pretty good for 2+ seasons now.
