Strangely tone deaf, given the seriousness of the issue. Critics of Trump suggest he cheapens and coursens political discourse, but The Spectator's choice of 'chummy banter' to discuss these events does just the same thing. These guys aren't getting this completely straight and need to review their competence. The director of the Secret Service was an agent for decades and then retired and became a corporate security chief. Because Biden knew her from when she protected him many years ago, he asked her to come back to government and take the job. So, no -- she didn't make a career out of guarding chips before taking control of the agency. However, I agree that it appears from the actions of bumbling agents that diversity and equal outcomes" were favored over ability to do the job effectively.

If I'd be a tall agent and see my colleague really struggling shielding off Trump - who is a massive dude, he is very tall, I''d just help and not wait by the car. I'm sure they all have their jobs to do, but why were so many agents assigned to protect the motorcade and so little to be with Trump after he was shot? 5 agents with Trump, counted over 15 at the motorcade.

The problem of overcorrection for past discrimination manifests itself in multiple ways. The supposed justification for the overcorrection comes from a common mindset. The mindset of quotas and equality of outcome, rather than equality of opportunity. The mindset of making decisions based on identity and political ideology, rather than based on merit. The mindset that you're on the right side of history if you decide not to appoint a straight, cis, white male.

Instead we get, 'Oh the female agent looked funny when she was bundling him in the car'. Go and watch something like Task & Purpose for a proper military analysis, not these amateurs.
