Too bad the FAA couldn't have done this without giving the location of the pilot/operator/ground station. I wish the Remote ID module would only transmit the s/n and location of the drone within the area. Then give law enforcement access to a data base so they could match the s/n's with the owners info. I think it's dangerous and irresponsible for the FAA to broadcast the real time location of the ground station/operator/pilot, etc. Because there are so many people out there that could use the info to attack, rob (or worse) the drone operators.

Do not fly in airspace around airports or vital infrastructure its that simple. Its nobody's business what you doing with your drone or where you are while flying it. All this regulation when at the end of the day pilots have killed more people in the ground and in the air in the last year than any drone has in 20 years so ask yourself why is this necessary at all. The FAA should focus on the areas they oversee with aircraft operators and mfg not waste time on drones. Everyone should be asking what's the real reason for these laws and rules and why is goverment and law enforcement exempt from these rules but we have to abide by them.

I am generally not an advocate of civil disobedience or violating the law, but this power grab will not accomplish what the FAA and DHS want. RID is not ADD B and will not integrate drones into the US airspace system. Furthermore, an individual intending to do harm using a drone will either use a legacy one without RID of build his own. Furthermore, for recreational pilots who do not hold a Part 107 liscense who own an old drone without RID, I suspect if you keep a low profile and you are not operating in an urban area you should be fine if you get my drift.

"license plate" ..no no it is not that at all. Sorry sir, but you need to stop using that as it is 100% incorrect. Does your vehicle license plate tell people far away from you where you are by transmission? No. Does it allow any random person to target you and know where you are while you're doing something? No. Does it allow people to simply be in the area and see all the vehicle license plates in the nearby parking lot? No. Does it give out information the public does not have access to? No. It is not a license plate. That is a terrible analogy.

This isn’t really that much of a problem because you need to be fairly close to the signal in order to receive the data. For instance the drone tag beacon only has a range of about 200ft. That means the signal is only detectable 200ft from the drone. So if you’re over 200ft in altitude no one will ever see it.

@PilotInstitute I'm waiting on mine to be returned from DJI due to gimbal issues, so I can't check. When I registered my replacement back in June, the 1st 4 were 11US . Would that change now to start with 1581F? I'll have to wait to check when I get back. Maybe @tjcambell811 can check his.

Curious about what type of emergency status my mini 4 pro (or any standard RID) would be sending?
@taylortisaac4 ай бұрын
I’m thinking like, when it has lost connection with the remote, or if it’s forcing a landing due to battery depletion. But yeah I’m curious exactly when it would do that too

At 1:10 you said “OVER” 250 grams and then said “UNDER” 250 grams. What if it’s exactly 250 grams? I think it is “250 grams or more” it must be registered. Even the FAA website has conflicts in the wording.
@dronelifehexacopter5 ай бұрын
249 grams or less does not have to be registered unless flying under part 107. 250 grams or more has to be registered for part 107 and recreational.

You can fly anywhere without remoteID that you previously flew if youve never been confronted. Just be respectful and don't be dumb. Hobbist arent gonna shell this money. FAA aint gonna get us to comply after ignoring all our concerns and pushing this overly strict regulation. If you're really concerned just add the module and wrap it in anything to obstruct the signal from reaching more than a few feet. Not like it had much range to begin with. This whole thing isn't very enforceable anyways so its likely just having the module on the drone would be enough to bypass a fine. Even if its not as functional as they'd hoped-for.

Is it legal to UNREGISTER your drone if it’s under 249g And fly recreational ??? No Remote ID
@PilotInstitute5 ай бұрын
Yes. Delete it from your inventory and remove the registration sticker. Then you don’t need RID as long as you don’t add accessories to make it more than 249g, and you keep flying recreationally.

It's here to stay, maybe. But I'm not worried about RID. Its the unconditionally overboard interpretation of commercial use I have a problem with, and 100% will not comply with it. Period.

A little confused. I have a Mavic Pro v1 and Phantom 4 Pro v1 and have a Holy Stone RID module. Do I need to register the S/N of the RID with the FAA? Logged in to thier site showing my registration of both drones, but did not find a way to register the RID. Anyone have the link concerning this? Thanks.....

@dronelifehexacopter5 ай бұрын
Under "UAS Type" there is a drop down menu. Select "Remote ID Broadcast Module" If recreational register it separately, one module can be used on all your recreational drones. If part 107 each drone has to have it's own remote ID module unless built in.

If you registered it, you need remote ID. But it’s also an easy fix to un-register it since it’s not required. Just go to your inventory in the drone zone and delete it from there. Remove the registration sticker and you’re good to go!

There are bigger problems to enforce than toys flying around. This is just nonsense i dont intend to follow. Tackle the homeless problems, the massive opiod epidemic, the gun voilence, and hosts of other issues then even then this is overreaching nonsense.
