Want to know the one thing that has consistently given me a REAL return on my time, energy and money? The one thing that has not only helped me increase my sales but also increased mailing list sign ups, brought in more social media followers and helped me grow my community and business over all? KZfaq.
However, it's not for everyone. While the rewards are definitely worth the work, it is work and this video I'm hoping to help you answer once and for all if KZfaq would be a good fit for you and your business.

Hello! I've been watching you for a while. I'm just a quiet subscriber, to be honest. I just wanted to thank you for your time and videos. It's greatly appreciated. I've struggled on KZfaq for years, but it's ok. I'm not looking to get famous, lol. I started a gaming channel first, for the fun of it. I just can't figure out who my audience is, what I should really be doing etc. I tried combining my love of crafting with gaming and it didn't work out, lol. I even changed my channel to DatCraftyGamer. Now I just post my crafty fun on my retirement channel. I started watching you to learn about selling my crafts in retirement. I'm learning a lot but it's kind of overwhelming. Anyway, thanks for all that you do.

@stephkaracreates I only got into gaming since I have three boys who are gamers. If I didn't have kids, I likely would not have been big on gaming. We are a family of gamers, though I've decided I won't likely go back to my gaming channel. I did get it monetized, but I just don't know how to keep things interesting. They did eventually turn my monetization off last year since I wasn't active enough. Camping and crafting, how fun. I enjoy crafting, hiking, kayaking, dancing, etc. I want to share all my interests, but I always hear niche down in videos. My crafts are the same way I dabble in all sorts of things. I don't limit myself, I am always learning and trying new crafts. It is good for my brain and soul. I crochet, macrame, sew, hand embroidery, needle felting, upcycle, wreath making, custom picture frames, etc. I love all things crafty. Anyway, enough babbling. Have a great day!

@@heathersretirementshenanig6785 you sound like my kinda person! I'm much the same and don't like the whole Niche-down thing - it's just so hard but I know it does work - I wonder if you could try something like 'Not just a gaming mama" - make it a niche - there's gotta be mums out there that wanna learn about gaming and might just be crafty mums too? Could be a bit of fun entertainment - people love to check out other people's similar lifestyles. Anyhoo for now I Craft, Caravan & Camp - it's me and maybe some people can relate. It's enough and it brings me joy! Nice chatting

@@cottagedreamslittlebiz yeah I've already decided gaming just isn't going to work for me. I'd rather be crafting. Even in gaming it's better to niche down. I started with survival games but if I went outside the survival genre people didn't watch. It's hard to find a gaming audience, I don't know many female gamers in their 50s. I'm just gonna focus on making and hopefully selling my crafts and of course our travels and other things I'm enjoying in retirement. Nice chatting with you as well.

The content shelf life! I caught myself last week binging really old videos by a creator I had just discovered. I try to comment when I can for the algorithm sake if nothing else. I kept wondering if she was seeing the comments on ancient videos - what must she be thinking?
@KimBliss
@KimBliss 5 ай бұрын
I do when folks comment on old videos! But I don't know if that's because I get notifications here on the youtube studio app. Oddly I have noticed that occasionally KZfaq completely miss notifying on some comments and I'll only see them if I check on desktop. I'd say it was a glitch, but it's been happening for the past year so who knows.

For what it's worth, in the two years I've been running my shop, I've seen many, MANY youtubers talking about Etsy. I'm very picky and critical of cr.p, so I ended up ignoring most of it and subscribing to three channels, including yours. Every morning, when I sit down to stitch my things, I check whether these three channels have broadcast anything new, if so, I watch it first, then I switch to inspiring videos from my industry. Or I go to do something unpleasant but necessary, such as taking photos of my products. What I mean is, I like listening to you. You are natural and "unforced". I don't roll my eyes when I watch you, and I often roll my eyes with skepticism at some of yt content. Congratulations 😏 And no matter what - we are here and we are listening to you. Keep it up and talk to us.

Considering that's kind of the point of doing the video in the first place ... 😆It may be that I have to have a painting session specifically to show some work in progress. Yup KZfaq chucked 2 ads in the middle of your video! As someone that only finds the time to indulge my learning when driving, the WORST bit about these ad dumps is the fact they are often 3x louder than the audio on the video and scare the s**t out of me as I play through the car speakers. However, you have your audio recorded at a driver friendly volume so there’s not much disparity between the two 🙏

For a video that's about half an hour long, that's not bad. Although I did go in and remove a whole load of ad slots that youtube had added because it was extreme! I don't feel bad about having ads in my videos though. This is a job at the end of the day and one I can only do by getting paid.

Some very interesting points. One of which is sometimes the obvious just isn't well, obvious. I fall into that 'I should have a KZfaq channel'. I went to film school after all. But, having taken a year out, I realised I really don't like videoing. Go figure. I prefer writing. So my blog is my personal choice and KZfaq is where I go to be entertained. It is such a relief really to recognise this, and not feel guilty that I am not doing. Just enjoying. Thank you .

You've inspired me to finally JUST DO IT! 😁 I've heard that the first ten videos at least don't get any views so I thought what the heck! I like your relaxed chatty style and hope to be as comfortable on camera eventually. What happens if you don't get 500 subscribers within the year? Or enough watch hours? Is it just when you get to those metrics you can get monetised? I'd like to do a course eventually, but the monthly subscription really puts me off! It's quite a commitment. Thanks for the useful info as always!

Kim, I have a question about your video. Do you know if you've had a channel for over a year and not really been consistent to get the watch time, if it's better to start a new KZfaq channel? I'd love to start uploading consistently and focusing on one channel, but I'm not sure if I'll be wasting my effort given that I've had my channel for a few years now.
@KimBliss
@KimBliss 5 ай бұрын
It would depend on the following you've built and what you wanted to make content on. KZfaq themselves have given this advice, "same audience, same channel. Different audience, different channel". The reason is because, if the videos you want to make are different to what you've done previously made, it might confuse the algorithm and it won't know who your videos would be a good fit for.

Oh, my friend. My experience with YT lately has not been a happy one. Earlier today, maybe late afternoon NY (EST) time, when my eyes WANTED to be on you, no other tabs open because I enjoy your friendly face, I was getting double YT ads every 2.5 - 3 minutes! I turned it off. Maybe because it was peak viewing time? Idk. I come back now, 2 AM, eyes and fingers on June's Journey, listening to you only, NO ads other than the first one where I left off mid-video. I believe it has been this way for other content I watch, as well. EYES ON, ADS ON. Is this a standard YT thing now for people who cannot or will not pay for Premium? Is there a way that you, as a content creator, can limit the number or perhaps the frequency of ads? I don't mind watching some ads. I'm perfectly happy with giving creators that sweet revenue for their hard work. But every 2.5 minutes is insanity. As far as the video today, I feel pushed and do not have the energy for it, so, in Twitch-speak: FeelsBadMan. Hugs
