She needed to listen to both songs back to back. It’s one continuous concept.

The Who came out with the Who sell out in 1967, which was their first concept album but Tommy, released 2 years later in 1969, was their most well known concept album!

Sgt. Pepper - 1967; Tommy - 1969. NOT the same time. The concept-album nod goes to the Beatles.

For my money, the first concept "album" was Beethoven's 6th symphony.

FWIW, the album "Tommy" by the Who, was released about two years after "Sgt. Pepper..." Also, my understanding is that Sgt. Pepper's... was recorded on two 4-track machines that were synchronized. And the Beatles have a couple of songs that are rockabilly, if not country, such as "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party" and "I'll Cry Instead." Of course, the Beatles' cover of "Act Naturally" is pure country.

Yeah.. I knew Tommy came out in 69.. but I couldn't remember if this album came out in 67 or 69. Thanks for the clarification though!

Well, ”What Goes On” is also kind of a country song, isn't it?

The concept was that the Beatles were a fictitious band. They could record the album without conforming to people's expectations. Sgt Pepper was recorded on a four track. They went to eight track on the next album, the White Album. They were still using eight track on their last album, Abbey Road.

Wasn’t Tommy two years later? Definitely not 1967. This started as a concept album but after the first two songs, that was it.

The Beatles Originally Did 2-Track Recordings. They Moved To 4-Tracks On "Hard Days Night"( 1964 ) They Only Got To 8-Tracks On Thier Final Recordings For 'Abbey Road' 🛣️ ( 1969 ) Also The Opening Song Of The 1982 Robin Williams Film 'The World According To Garp' Is From This "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" Album "When I Am 64." Great Album. Some People Consider This Album As The #1 Album Of All Time. But Other People Consider 'Revolver'( 1966 ) By The Beatles As The Best Album Of All Time.🇬🇧🥁🎸🎹😎🤓🙂☺️ I Am Posting 📬 This At 9:55 p.m. , Friday Night 🌛🌉🌃🌌 , May 17 , 2024.

@4:32 You Say That The Who's Album "Tommy" Came Out This Same Year.( 1967 ) Actually The Who's "Tommy" Was Released On May 19, 1969. The "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" Album By The Beatles Was Released In Great Britain 🇬🇧 On May 26, 1967. This Album Was Released On June 1, 1967 , Here In The United States 🇺🇲 But I Think 🤔 That This Album Really Needs To Be Listen To In One Sitting With Headphones.🎧 ( Not Interrupted. But That Is Okay. ) I Remember 🤔 Buying This Album Around 40 Years Ago , In 1984. And That I Listened To It , In One Sitting. 🎧😳🤯 And It Blew My Mind!😳🤯 I Thought That The Beatles 🥁🎸🎸🎹 Were Soft Rock. But After Listening 🎧 To This Album , I Changed My Opinion. I Have Been A Fan , Of The Beatles , Ever Since.🇬🇧🎧🥁🎸🎸🎹😎🤓🙂☺️🇺🇲 I Am Posting 📬 This At 9:40 p.m. , Friday Night 🌛🌉🌃🌌 , May 17 , 2024.

You should try Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan. It was rap before there was any rap. It also kicked off Dylan's Electric phase that shook up American music just after the Beatles became big.

Concept albums existed much earlier; even Frank Sinatra made some. Pepper is one of the first in rock and pop and has motivated many others, to make their own. The story is, that the Beatles present themselves as the Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band and put on a show for an imaginary audience. The song heard is the opener, the reprise at the end is the farewell with the subsequent A day in the life as an encore (although, interestingly, the Beatles never did encores in their concerts. Last song - get off the stage as quickly as possible and away from the mostly hysterical audience). Country elements can also be found in the Beatles, as Ringo Starr was/is a big country fan and sang a few country-pop songs in the early phase of the Fab Four. McCartney also tried his hand at it with the funny Rocky Raccoon. It should also be added, that after this record in the music world, the album gained a much higher status and became at least as important as singles for many musicians, if not more important.

Maybe you should preface your “facts” during the discussion with “I think” because there are times during your reactions when you are unfortunately incorrect eg in this reaction, saying Tommy and Pepper were released at the same time when they were two years apart. There’s no problem with not having an exact answer if you honestly don’t have one. Appreciate your enthusiasm for The Beatles, but don’t spoil it with inaccuracies.

WHY didn't you let it play into "With a Little Help From My Friends" which is how it is SUPPOSED to be listened to, as you MUST know, since it 's your favorite album and have listened to it many times.....it's one continuous song. She thinks it was cut off like that on the record, when it was YOU that cut it off. I wish you had told her that you just stopped it and that there is more.
