Katakuri is the long lost brother on the other side to Luffy as Senor Pink was to Franky. We got 2 goated "villains/antagonists" on the wrong side for 2 arcs. I can easily see Katakuri returning to bail Luffy out sometime in the future (oMG fOrEShAdoWiNg?!?!) as he's the older brother and even with current power creep, Katakuri still has the superior Future Sight (compared to Luffy) along with an Awakened fruit. He will hold his own against the vast majority of the One Piece verse.

When this first came out a lot of people were so mad that this is how Luffy won, even saying as far as he actually lost. The battle was objectively a draw, Katakuri was just exhausted. That was probably the first time he's ever had to do that much in a fight, and use that much haki. Most of his fights before Luffy probably was a quick one. But not with that rubber kid. That rubber kid been through it. He got a lot in the tank.
