My favorite part is the nodding respect between Maverick and Cyclone and the handshake with Rooster and Hangman.

This was an incredible sequel. It wrapped up Maverick's story arc perfectly. He showed the top brass who's the boss, AGAIN. Came to grips with his past, his reconciliation with Rooster, the sad goodbye to Iceman, a bright future with Penny, and while not flying with the Navy, (The movie did say it would be his last post), he's got that sweet P-51 Mustang to do high speed passes with. (Look out Penny) Tom Cruise and the rest really put forth a lot of effort to make this epic film. It was well worth the wait.

This movie was incredible man. I finally got around to watching it yesterday. Everyone told me that it was good, but I was still a little skeptical because I usually hate when they try do remakes and sequels of classic films like this. I thought, “No way this movie is that good, surely they’re overhyping it.” They weren’t. This movie WAS that good, and dare I say it, better than the original. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time.

First time in a movie theater in 5 years when seeing this. Went with some friends who are late 30s early 40s who grew up with the original film. We all felt like kids again for those two hours. Incredible sequel. Definitely worth the wait.

As a son of a Navy Chief, a veteran of the USAF, a father, and a child of the 80s this scene brought me to tears.

"Mav has 5, makes him an Ace." As if there was any doubt Mav was an Ace before that.

I cannot express in words how much I loved this movie. It's a cinematic experience! The music is perfect throughout as well. We watch the original so many times when younger, we had Tomcat models and my friend even name his son Maverick. This movie was so good, how a legacy sequel should be done...

If this Movie isn't nominated for Best Picture at Oscars.. I gotta have serious trust issues with the Academy then

God, after spending all of 2020 with nothing but pain, suffering, and despair, and 2021 being a slight improvement over 2020, this movie has given me and everyone else a much-needed burst of optimistic energy. It helped a *LOT.*

man...if perfection could be definined in a movie scene...this is it. I remember seeing this in the theater opening weekend and there wasn't a dry eye on the entire sold out complex... absolutely sublime.

Seeing this on Father's Day with my dad, surrounded by other fathers and their sons, was my best theater experience ever. Everyone in tears.

My wife and I saw it on Memorial Day when it debuted. It was all it could be and then some. We loved it. It came back to our local IMAX theater for an encore showing. The theater was still packed , and people were still laughing and crying like it was the first time seeing it only it was better because you could just enjoy it for the masterpiece that it is.

I couldn't enjoy this scene because some asshole was slicing onions inside the theater. I'm gonna have to watch it again.

I hate using the word, but that is just precious. There’s no other way to describe it that does it justice. Their reconciliation just felt so good. Then later to see, no dialogue required, Bradley at the hangar with Mav helping him fix his plane-by choice- said it all. The final shot of them in the picture on Mav’s beloved Goose wall emphasized the bond.

No greater bond then loyalty...I think that was what Rooster learned. As his dad could have flown with anybody. His choice was with Lt Pete Mitchell..aka Maverick....

Honestly, one the best crafted movies of all time. Can't help but rewatch this masterpiece every couple of months. There is not a scene wasted in this entire film. Easily the best work of Tom Cruise career.

My dad is the #1 fan of the original top gun, and he was in tears (alongside with my sister and me) when this scene came. I’m very fortunate to watch this movie with him.

The last time I loved a movie theater experience this much was Lord of the Rings. That was 20 years ago. I had almost given up on paying for theater tickets, popcorn etc. just to watch some boring superhero CGI crap fest. Thank you, Tom Cruise, for reminding us how magical movies can be if they’re done with care and respect and love. Hollywood, please take note!!!

“It’s what my dad would’ve done”. I see that as it having a duel meaning. For one Goose absolutely would have went to any length to save Maverick. However he’s also acknowledging Maverick as his father as well as that is exactly what Maverick did for him. Amazing writing.

Seeing scenes from the 80's that happened at the exact same place today in a 2nd sequel passed down from the person that same person & actually got accomplished the 2nd time around, makes you feel great about everything in the first movie.

..and the sentence: "That's what my dad would have done", goes really well as Pete (Maverick) saved Bradley's life first by putting his plane on the way of the ground to air missiles and was shot down. What a dad would do to save his own son. Nice touch.

Top Gun: Maverick is one of those rare sequels that makes its prequel better. I know Top Gun was a sensational hit of its time, but I have never really thought of it much more than a fun popcorn flick. But Maverick retroactively makes it have so much more emotional depth.
