It starts with a line. It can be a wavy line, it can be a straight one. This beginners class series starts with a line in the middle of the quilt sandwich. Rest is pure fun and illusion of complexity 😊
I also added some nice music @liborioconti . It is relaxing, meditative and it is similar to the music I listen to when I quilt. I hope you like it 😊

Thank you for your feedback! I use quilting to relax and I love to push the boundaries of a design. I go at my normal speed to give the right impression about the dynamics of the process. It is real. Unfortunately I stopped using music background for now. Too many problems with the confusing claims on the author rights on music that is declared as free to use (no copy right claim). I am learning a lot.

Hi again! Patiance is important. Sometimes I teach to a small group of ladies. And my main challange as a teacher is to make them let go of some ideal image how it should look. None of us have a long arm so we have to adjust. And the machines are sometimes quirky....so it takes a bit time. But now, after several months they are quilting and they are really good at it ❤❤❤

One is to create an amazing complex pattern, the second one is to realize that this pattern consists of many very similar movements that you will practice without being bored. You can practice spacing, shape, traveling, getting the right angle to meet the previous line, and also your intuition and muscle memmory...all of it without getting bored because the pattern is so beautiful❤❤❤

Thank you! This is the beauty of such quilting practice. I can do it again tomorrow and the result would be different as well. The goal was however, different. It was about all those repetetive movements.... you quilt them so long till they become a second nature and we can do them without thinking. today was spacing, shape , travelling.... all what we need for more traditional patterns. Hi, You know my opinion on speed up videos - they give the wrong impression!. Thank you for your great comment. I was just saying to my husband, that this is a bit like learning kung-fu in old movies. You are supposed to repeat a bunch of movements and then suddenly they make sense. The same is here. the design is accidental. I want you to concentrate more on shape repetition, echo and how small changes will impact the texture... and the best is I am learning a lot as well!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

I think you can. Look at it as a series of repetetive movements that are very similar. I vary between wavy lines, arches and some loops. And then I repeat.... this video is not about complex pattern. It is about having fun while repeatig a lot of very similar movements. it looks complex, but when you look at single section at a time..... it is easy. Thank you for your comment!!!❤❤❤❤

You make it look so easy!! I love the dimensional appearance. I’m finishing a quilt built around a rectangle and machine embroidery. I have 1 1/2” blank space at the bottom, 2” on the top, and about 5” on each side. I know this quilting would draw attention to the area, but do you think it would detract from the embroidery? If so, any suggestions for all that negative space?
@quiltingnerd
@quiltingnerd 8 ай бұрын
Hi there! Thank you for your comment! It is a tough one. If you have embroidery then you want it to be an eyecatcher. What about using a matching thread? then you can try out the pattern but make it very subtle....

I would love to find out that a beginner can achieve something like this. I always start out so enthusiastic but during the process my stress level begins to rise and the mistakes become more frequent, which mostly ends in a disappointment. I have tried over and ober again, but apart from very small practising pieces I just cannot accomplish a decent overall quilting pattern. But I love to watch your art. Thanks for sharing.

Starting small is a good start. Having fun is perfect, stressing out is wrong..... What about quilting first sections thta are small enough for the enthusistic phase and then stop, wait a bit and then go on. It is not supposed to be perfect. If you look carefully, I am quilting the same shapes over and over again till I fill the space. This pattern looks so cool because it is based on repetition and semi-similar shapes. And therefore it is perfect for beginners. It is just a way line, or arch that is repeated ten times.....Sometimes I tell my ladies during class: deep breath and round thoughts.....I am keeping my fingers crossed! And I am sure your quilting is actually good❤❤❤❤❤
