Hi! I do promote a bit slower quilting and I never accelerate my videos. They send the wrong message. Quilting is slow and it takes time. And we are not professionals. we need time to learn. I find it relaxing and meditative and I am still effective with my projects! ❤❤❤

Yup, almost like my story. It took me several sewing machines to get there where I am now. With every machine my skills grew and I was getting better. I was dreaming about having four quilts on our bed for four seasons.... My husbands laugh when I tell him that. It is my cretivity outlet and it is addictive! ❤❤❤

I actually do not like talking during quilting. The process absorbs me a lot and disturbs my thought process. This video was my third try actually. And yes, slow down. Use music if you have to. Your body and your mind will be greatful. And the quilting will get better. ❤❤❤

Dear Cynthia, you are so much like some of my Greman quilting ladies.... they hear what I am saying, they agree and then they keep to their own ways. I actully need to bully them into changing their habits. They always laugh when I say: take a deep breath, slow down, look at the texture, make a note taht this pattern looks so much better than your last one... You are very good quilter. You have your style and your voice, why your quilting should not be up to snuff, especially if you had such a long break. Do you still have your first quilt? if yes, then take a look at it and compare to where you are now . Hugs, ❤❤❤

I don't think I have the first quilt I did by machine a dozen years ago, but I do have the first ones I did in the 1980's by hand, even the piecing. Now, I do consider myself a master hand quilter. Machines are not as easy for me; I always said I have machine phobia. I vividly remember those first machine quilted pieces, though. Yes, the quilting is vastly improved and more complex than my first fumbling attempts. Thank you for the compliment, I do a fair job of it, I guess, but would like to improve in many areas. My consistency is not great because how well a quilt turns out seems to depend on my mood at the time, LOL. Being a perfectionist is somewhat of a dead end road and I try to give myself some grace.

Yes, it is doabe. You will be just limited with the quilt size. I love my small machine. It is so incredibly reliable and quilts beautifly. I use it when I need a machine during my quilting classes, or my big one is being cleaned. Have fun! ❤❤❤❤

It is the most basic one. When I learned I heard that I should start with steaples. They are actually difficult. Back and forth lines allow you to learn the basic control. If you know how your machine behaves and how to keep the spacing equal, everything else is much easier. ❤❤❤

I waork with a small group of quilters. They are all a bit older than me and they are perfectionists....They will point out every little imperfection in their quilting...Once I get them to stop thinking in the cathegories of perfection from the get go they start making a real progress. This journey never ends, and we are getting better all the time. Also I think quilters have a special connection. This is why I get so many wonderful comments. I had them too!!! Sometimes they happen, Iassume that you also quilt on a domestic. This is way I am almost obsessive with smoothing the fabrics and the layers. It helps a lot. And besides that, the puckers will kind of blend in after few washings. ❤❤❤

@@quiltingnerd yes, I see on a domestic home Brother embroidery and sewing machine. That’s good to know that it will blend in after a washing. I have put quilts aside and not finish because of the puckering and I didn’t like it. I’ve thought about doing a quilt as you go so I can do one large block at a time and still make larger quilts.

I have already one or two videos on quilting large quilts and I will try to make some more. What helps me is to start from the middle! then it will only get less on my right side. then I am using not so many pins to hold the sandwich together. the layers will always shift a bit. Then I smooth each area I quilt before quilting it. it slows me down a bit but in this way I can feel if there is a wrinkle on the back side. Sometimes the fabric folds and then I can do nothing about it. I check the back from time to time. And this is one of the resonswhy I do not use spray basting. @@marcellarodriguez7955

I do not have a long arm. No space. Also I am not a professional quilter so I could not justify the expence. I am using a Janome M7. It is a a very large domestic machine with a large throat space.
