I had a very similar experience in school where I was pulled out of class, because a substitute teacher was convinced I was doing drugs. Had to go to counselling sessions, for which I wasn't told the reason (found out a while later), losing a load of educational time. Apparently the reason this teacher thought this, was because I had bags under my eyes. The reality was that I spent many a night staying up, playing Final Fantasy VII well beyond my bedtimes, and was probably missing a few hours sleep.

@@TheEnderCyclops I think I had a few sessions of that counselling across a few months, and then my 'Head of Year' teacher revealed it to me, how they had thought this. They didn't seem to believe my reasoning for the bags under my eyes. She kept a close set of eyes on me until I left the school. Was most likely a case of a teachers word vs a students,

I can’t decide if it was a good or a bad thing to keep listening when you gave the warning because I’d already been reflecting and working through my past recently so it’s not out of nowhere…. but it’s much more intense hearing words out loud from someone else. I fight to find reasons to live - I have enough reasons I don’t want to die for sure (laundry fairy would probably be coming in from out of state for one) - but it’s hard sometimes finding meaning and satisfaction in this crazy thing we call life sometimes with its ups and downs. Thanks for being as real as an ocelot with wings and a magic way not to die on the internet can be.

I have been trying to internalise a phrase I heard: "perfectionism is the enemy of good" because there are so many things I will not do or start because I feel I dont have the energy or skill to do it perfectly, slowly but surely I am giving myself more reasonable expectations and just going with the flow if those can't be met, a pat on the back for just giving it a go. Thank you for sharing your thoughts because dehumanising is such a good word for the scrutiny I have ended up subjecting myself to through the years

This reminds me of my comment about Father’s Day: “My grandfathers were both dead as long as I can remember. My father cut me off. My daughter’s father AND his father are now dead. I used to have to buy gifts for my ex-husband, my son’s father, but now he says he doesn’t even want a card from his only kid, and I’m not sure that’s any better. My Father’s Day has looped around from awful to COMICALLY awful!” 🤪

It's okay to tell yourself that a situation hurt you and that you hated that period of life. It's a necessary step to be able to move on and grow. I'm glad you're doing so well now and I'm glad you understand how life works despite having had to go through some of the worst bits to get here. I've been really appreciating these more 'real talk' videos toycat has been doing, I'm quite disillusioned with the cliche responses people will give when you try to open up and be vulnerable to a reasonable extent with someone who isn't a mental health professional. It's really nice to hear the perspectives of others who are similarly aligned with me in that way, but it is very, very rare. With access to professionals being so hard to come by and extreme waiting lists (I have now gotten a therapy appt booked for late April, a waiting list I was put onto in June 2023, which to be honest I can't complain) I have slowly been spiralling in negative thoughts and ideation through the months, for years it has felt like I am just being 'realistic' in my viewpoints which really aren't voluntary and take work to flip around and I've not managed to consistently flip these thoughts in a meaningful way (longevity & genuine belief), but anyway, this video has made me feel less alone in that, thank you Toycat, I hope things feel better for you more consistently nowadays! If anyone maybe has some suggestions for a place (online) where people are welcome to just vent about these things without shame, guilt tripping, manipulation or overbearing in cliche responses, maybe reply below if thats okay to ask, of course feel free to remove this comment if not x

Outro joke mildly amusing, 6/10. On the assumption this was made in the last couple days, your voice is sounding a lot better, Toycat; I very much hope this continues! Interestingly, my late husband described a similar experience, being convinced he wouldn’t live to 30 and living through each week to make it to another session of the youth group he enjoyed. He coined the saying, “Die tomorrow, not today!”. I wish we would have gotten to the point where we could’ve talked to groups of young people about our experiences surviving chronic depression with a lot of not wanting to live. Man lived to 44 and took himself to a month of radiation and chemo before the cancer took him. Funny how this has made me MORE determined to live, myself (mostly because I promised to stay and raise the kids)… 🥹

For quite a long time I had a problem with using drugs to deal with my mental health problems. Once I had found consistent access to heroin, I made a choice to use it every day, and as a result, become physically dependent on it. The reason I was okay with becoming physically dependent on opioids is because I fully intended on intentionally or unintentionally dying from an overdose. But that never ended up happening. Now 7 years later I'm no longer using heroin, but I'm stuck on methadone, and trying to taper off benzos. The point I want to make is try your hardest to not use suicide or death in general as an excuse to not deal with your problems now. Odds are, you'll find a reason to live later in life, and then you'll be stuck with years worth of mistakes to sort out. Things are always changing, and while I can't guarantee things will get better, they almost certainly will if you just learn to embrace the change.

How did 11-year-old me know never to tell anyone I was feeling that way at the current time? That age is precisely in the middle of my kids right now… I was a child, and a sheltered one, at that; in a lot of school systems, I would’ve still been in elementary school! I didn’t even know the word for how I felt (these things were not discussed with children in 1994), and yet I kept quiet about it; I knew I wouldn’t be helped. Maybe because I literally NEVER got ANY emotional support from EITHER parent? Which would explain why I felt that way at that age in the first place… I applaud little Me for keeping Us safe, even though it was very hard and she was so scared and confused… ❤️‍🩹

There's just something i want to touch on the topic of people in power who "suffered" through a process wanting to make you suffer through the same, I believe the people who have truly done something in the field they hold a powerful position in will never go out of their way to make the process for their subordinates painful or tougher. In fact I believe they are more human and understanding about it all. Obviously it differs from person to person. But the people who simply rose through the ranks and enjoy having that psudeo power and control over people are persons that have not gone through the same bit of suffering and cannot understand or related to their subordinates Making them a poor leader or in a poor position of power. Just my two cents on leadership. Have a lovely day!

I saw that to game is 1GB it added 29 MB so must have been bug fixes maybe or a duplication glitch patch but I wonder who is updating it I thought they didn’t care for the game unless it’s 4J

@@Vromst It's the first Update in 5 years and the game isn't even in the marketplace anymore, so I have 0 clue what they would do besides try to discontinue it more.
