Liverpool's humiliation at Anfield, and the fact only Aston Villa had won the quarterfinal tie of European competitions this week, made Premier League's chances on getting 8 clubs in 24/25 season very difficult. This is a big problem for Tottenham Hotspurs. Finishing 5th at the end of this season won't guaranteed them to the Champions League football!

Although the PL is the most competitive out of all the top Leagues, it also shows just how weak it is too. 33 matches unbeaten at home....big deal. A hell of a long way to go to beat the record held by Chelsea :0) Klopp disrespected Atalanta and this serves him right. You would have thought, given the lack of trophies in that Liverpool Trophy Room over the last 30 odd years, that he would have wanted to win this one. Obviously not. So the League Cup only, it is then...again, big deal.

The PL has had at least one team in the Champions League final 5 of the last 6 years. Also, winning the league in England is harder than anywhere else, unlike Germany with Bayern Munich, where there are only two dominant clubs. Unless you get a time like when Bayern Munich bottled it vs. Werder Bremen.

PS not only did 5 of the last 6 Champions League Finals involve at least 1 English club, 2 of those 6 finals featured two English clubs! To say the PL is weak is farcical.

@@thebobweirsegment3981 You are missing the point. Given how much Man City, Chelsea an Liverpool spend on players every Season, I would expect one of those 3 to be winning it every Season. Liverpool went through a purple patch, but where are they now, getting trounced by Atalanta, ffs.. Chelsea have had it for a few Seasons, that just leaves Man City and their spending enough to keep Greece afloat. EVERY League has one dominant Club, so your comment is not only delusional, it is very childish. PL has Man City. Bundesliga have Bayern. Legue1 PSG. Eredivisie, Ajax, etc... Every now and then the bubble bursts, but we all know that the dominant Clubs, at the time, WILL be back. So if you are going to leave me a comment, at least don't make it an ignorant one, all that proves is, you are an idiot.

I saw Van Dyke languidly go for a ball on the left early in the game, and he was so slow and languid in allowing the Atalanta player to run past that I thought, hmm, I don’t think Liverpool are really up for this. They looked very tired. They’ve got 4 away games coming up in 10 days starting at Atalanta. Will definitely drop points and lose ground on Arsenal and City.
