I think one of the coolest things about Robin's character is that after Enies Lobby she never looks worried because she believes in Luffy that much. She is always calm because she knows he would never let anything happen to them. I think that comes with her being the most rational thinking member of the crew.

Generally speaking you're right...But she does have one distinct moment of fear after Enies Lobby though. During Saobody when Kuma is making everyone vanish, her and Luffy reach out toward each other and she calls to him hoping he can help.

When you think about it, the hat belonging to Roger originally makes total sense and it's something you can completely see coming if you spot and then remember the foreshadowing. When Shanks gave the hat to Luffy, he said it was precious to him, and we learn WAY later that Shanks was part of Roger's crew. Put those two pieces of info together and you can totally predict this, but that doesn't make it any less fantastic.

Not to mention every big players reaction to Luffy wearing that hat isn't really because of Shanks, but because they saw it on Roger. But because Shanks is so well known, we all just assume at first they're talking about Shanks.

@@elfascisto6549 Not saying Oda's perfect, as I have had issues with his writing a few times, but actively saying the straw hat wasn't set up is straight up denial on you part IMO. Also, Luffy has been set up to be special from early on, as have other characters like Blackbeard, it's not something that's only happened recently. It's not like Naruto where the first half of the series was constantly claiming that hard work can overcome talent before the second half goes an gives Naruto just about every advantage he needs, even changing him to be a reincarnated demi-god who's literally destined to walk the path he does, to the point where the whole story starts to reek of hypocrisy and leading people to ironically say "Neji was right". The straw hat has several occasions where you learn a bit about it, and if you put those pieces together, it can be relatively easy to guess it belonged to someone like Roger. From the start, we're told it belonged to Shanks, and that it's precious to him, meaning it's obvious that someONE precious to him gave it to him, and I'm pretty sure the anime even says as much. We later learn that Shanks was part of Roger's crew. Even if it wasn't deliberately set up, Oda was still able to take a few loose threads in the story and tie them together here, which is still impressive. Being able to remember and retcon a bunch of vague facts into a piece of background lore like this is almost as impressive as setting all this up beforehand.

Regarding the straw hat: If I recall correctly, Shanks told Luffy to take great care of it as it belonged to someone important to him but this happened in the first 10(?) episodes so it's understandable to forget.

Another interesting thing to note here is that Raleigh has a scar the mirror image of Zorro and both being first mate. One of the questions i started asking at this point is why didnt shanks mention it was Rogers hat. People being there to see the crew off makes sense also as it helps us see how they got back.
