The word Kaiju literally just refers to giant monsters. The most famous kaiju of them all is Godzilla. Godzilla is a kaiju. But all of the giant monsters that Godzilla often fights and/or team up with (like Mothra, King Ghidorah, etc.) are also considered kaiju.

the opening is so sick

I am about 100 chapters into the manga. It's a whole lot of fun. It's very shoneny, but in the best ways. I am watching the anime now, too. I prefer the sub over the dub as usual, but this time my gripe is that I think the EN VA's voice it too high pitched. He doesn't sound old enough. The other EN VA's are OK from what I've heard in other reaction videos. On a side note, the blonde girl, Kikoru might be my favorite character. If flops back and forth between her an a guy who appears in the next episode.

I feel like the systems in place and the technology to deal/combat Kaiju is so reassuring that the humour kinda works, it's a fun time and am glad you're reacting to it.
