There are more than a few quarterbacks who can throw the ball more than 61 meters. My alma mater had a backup qb, Tommy Grady, who could throw the football 75 yards with a single step and a little more than 100 yards (endzone-to-endzone) with a small run-up. 61 meters, or 67 yards, is what a typical NFL quarterback should be able to do on a consistent basis.

The NFL record is 70.5 yards or 64.46 meters. So yes the longest throw has out-thrown that "soccer" throw, but both would still be outliers. Outside of a game, one QB threw an 80 yarder though.

One of the television channels here in America used to hold a contest between the various professional quarterbacks in which they'd have to show off their assorted skills and one of these was a throw for distance competition. Jeff George would consistently throw between 80 to 85 yards and Brett Favre was consistently around 80 yards.
