2 жыл бұрынTen years ago, I lived and worked in Italy. In this video, I share a little bit about that former life - and how different it is experiencing Italy now on my own terms. From our base in Cortina d'Ampezzo, we explore Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Lago di Braies and also climb through a network of World War 1 trenches and tunnels built into the side of a mountain. This is my third and final video from the Italian Dolomites -- excited to catch you up on everything van life in the next video. Happy New Year Ya'll :)

Hey :) I’m Christian Schaffer, and I’ve lived on the road full-time since May 2018. This journey began in 2013 when I left the corporate world to build my career as an outdoor adventure & travel photographer. As a semi-minimalist, I eventually decided to donate/sell most of my belongings and move into my 4x4 Nissan Xterra. After 14 months of SUV living and falling madly in love with the open road - I bought a van and hired a team to build it out. Van life enables me to experience and document the beauty of our natural world on a whole new level, all while having my home and office nearby. My hope is that by sharing my own personal highs and lows along this (sometimes) wild journey, you might be inspired to hit the road or spend more time outdoors. Maybe one day I'll see you out on that open road..

With only a few years until retirement I left a comfortable, secure, state government job to go into nursing and I have not looked back. It is necessary to get rid of what no longer serves us, including negative or toxic people in our lives. Thanks for sharing your story.

I really admire all your accomplishments.. I'm a lot like you as far as needing my alone time and would be interested in your lifestyle.. I use astrology as a hobby and I did a horary chart to see what you are all about.. and Pluto in the fourth house is right on about your home life and living in a car with your mother seem to Bear out were you like adventure over home life for sure.. also I'm sure the word genius comes up a lot when it comes to your photography. You definitely found your niche in life.. there's no going back for you. Maybe I could give you more insight if you could give me your birthdate I could share some more insights if care.. that you seem to meditate on all the time. I'm sure last week really enlightened your spiritual world.. hope to hear from you. Ed

What an elegantly impressive view of the mountains in Italy. I could almost sense your "don't want to leave" thoughts as you were looking out the window of the airplane high above the snowy landscape. Don't feel bad, been there, done that too. Good to hear from you again, hope you had time to recharge down in Big Sur. Everybody needs that at different times during the year. Christian, you have Introduced A whole new possibility of life for me. I've always dreamt of doing literally exactly what it is that you do, and the fact that someone so beautiful, wise, successful, resourceful, humble, yet,fiercely confident accomplishes such true human fulfillment is so mind blowing to me. It's often hard to see the beauty that is right in front of you... the normal becomes routine and you take it for granted. It is good to take a step back and look at your surroundings through a "child like" eyes. Then you might be able to appreciate it again. ✌Mitch

That is epic, the hike up the mountain and the beautiful views. Hearing your professional background, I now see where you've been and where you are. Talent worthy outside of the business/management role.....creating on your own terms. Photography and beyond. @@ChristianSchaffer You are most welcome. My scientist dad was awarded a Sabbatical leave in '75 to England for a year. But, prior to moving into a home rented out by the parents of a British Space Shuttle astronaut we were able to travel/camp around Europe from Luxemburg, Germany, Switzerland, ITALY!, and France for about 3 weeks. I will never forget that wonderful and magnanimous experience. Your piece brought back all those great memories. Thank you so much. BTW, visited Scotland during that year and has to be at the top of my fave country list. Maybe you will agree if you ever get visit there, if you haven't already. Have a best day!!!!!!!

Great advice I'm feeling the same with my career we are meant to enjoy life and be happy we never should have a job we hate to many hours spent there several days a week.Traveling around the world has always been a dream of mine, I would watch Rick Steves all the time and fantasize about places traveling exploring.

Your intros have been so amazing lately. The gorgeous landscapes, editing, and music keep getting better and better. It was nice to see a little slice of your previous life, (how amazing you had that footage), as well as your reason for cutting out. I think a lot of us feel that way but we don't all have the courage to do what you did. I look forward to one day seeing you make a documentary of all of this starting from the beginning. It would inspire a lot of people to believe in what's possible if they dare to dream and believe in themselves. Kudos to you.
