Just found your channel, your candor is really inspiring. On another note, as a Brit, I’m sorry you had to deal with some overzealous security official over here. I’m sure you would be welcome back, anytime 😊

I was in that exact parking lot earlier in the year as I was working at a local hospital there and remember that same van doing the same thing, but eventually left. But he kept going round and round and round….some people are nuts. Stay safe!
@ChristianSchaffer11 сағат бұрын
Really?? How strange. Yeah, I got the vibe that the person wasn’t really dangerous - just maybe a little off? It was mostly just annoying, but quickly became concerning when he got out and tried to approach me in the dark 😬
@Vantasticviews210 сағат бұрын
@@ChristianSchaffer I ended up going across the street to the paved lot just up the street. No vehicles there, no “no parking” signs, and a convenient group of trees and bushes that hides you from people going up and down the main road through the park. The van with the huge solar array was there as well, but ended up going to the unpaved lot where you were. Not sure if an official told him to move or not. I never had any problem parking in the paved lot, but I only stayed about a month because I cancelled my nursing contract at the hospital there because of dangerously poor staffing. Plus, I worked 3 nights a week and wasn’t there every single night. I’m a single woman traveling alone, too, so I stay fairly aware but had no problems in that section of town. Best of luck in your travels!

One thing I did after a man (13" shoe prints, so assume it was a large man), was on my deck that has no access except from my bedroom---what I did was buy a whistle. It would hopefully alert one of my neighbors, especially the 6'5" nice guy next door. Also, I've followed you off and on for years--and thought you had a dog. If so, have you considered another one?

This is completely off topic. I'm taking another adventure for summer so I watch uTubers and ran across yours. Outstanding! I couldn't believe that your a photographer. Your video narration is very well done and you are so articulate. I tried to do it last year and quickly gave up!!! :) Your How To's and experiences are spot on. I've only seen a couple of your videos... I'll be watching them all. Thanks for the hard work

Seriously??? I could not get through yet another video of a stupid human flying around solo putting herself in all kinds of dangerous situations!!! Why on earth would trek into the middle of nowhere all by yourself, relying on technology? GPS does not always work, you would be in a dead zone! To stay in that parking lot and either not leave promptly or call 911, What The Heck Were You Thinking?? Roll the window down an be aggressive? What? You seriously took your life in your hands, could have been easily overpowered. The mice, well they could be chewing through wires. And freaking out about a little spider? Really? What a waste and aggravation to have watched as much as I did!

When seconds count the police are minutes away! SCOTUS has ruled the police have no duty to protect individual citizens, each citizen is responsible for their own safety & the security of their property. Exercise your 2A rights which include more than just owning a gun! Self defense is a lifestyle. You need common sense & situational awareness & you need to know the difference! The word situation means attack. You have to be aware of the attack at the beginning because if you become aware in the middle of the attack you might have lost your opportunity for self defense! Common sense means don't go stupid places with stupid people! I learned this after I bought a pistol & took training classes. Which taught me how the pistol works & when it was unlawful to use the pistol. I also learned to have a non-lethal option like OC spray! This training included using a flash light to determine if a person is a threat or not. I strive to practice common sense to avoid situations that lead to an attack! This doesn't guarantee my safety.! It means with good situational awareness, I'll survive the attack!

Things are changing lately and I belive it will be happening in America.. Pls get the gun or some good dog or partner with a gun.. what you doing is brave but you must make some changes, bad times are coming...

Good clip. we do all the same stuff. We’re like twins 👯 definitely like to recon with the drone also. I’ve been spending time over the winter in the Sonoran and Adobe desert. You’re right about Sedona. there’s some good spots but 525 is a bit overwhelmed with full-time residence. You’re a Brave girl. Ioverlander is good. Unfortunately, I won’t put any of my good sites on there. The closest I get to the city is to go to the gym typically.

There are predators everywhere. Thing is - many of them understand that people are doing solo travel and they are looking for those that lack boundaries and enforcement of boundaries. Typically that comes from a strong father figure and since the rampant breakup of the family = many more people who lack boundaries Living in Moab = lots of “interesting” people passing through here - they think Moab is going to magically solve their problems they’re running from… Always trust your instincts and gut feeling - it’s okay to end conversations and keep it moving!! I would also hone your body language skills both in how you read people and also how you can be perceived Predators are good at picking out victims and they take advantage of high trust low boundary types!! This also happens in general with our narcissistic epidemic and it’s on a spectrum - something I am trying to teach my girlfriend because she grew up in another country where they still had intact families and higher levels of trust within their communities.

It’s horrendous the way some men act. As a decent human being all men need to realize that we’re a potential threat to any woman who doesn’t know us yet in any situation. Men don’t ever take offense when women seem off putting or anything if you don’t know them. You may think you’ve done nothing, but you may have scared them by accident. We have to be self aware in these situations. This guy in the van though? Call the cops immediately. No decent safe man would do that. Shy or not, there’s no excuse for that kind of behavior.

Also, seems u were well within reason to respond that way to his aproach. I am glad you are safe. Even as a man, solo vanlifing, I have had VERY sketchy people do very sketchy shit and more than once I've had to strap on my 9mm to ensure my own sadety. Even had idiots pull into my DESIGNATED CAMP SITE after dark expexting me to share, and one been blocked in by a truck. Please place your safety above their feelings. Right minded ppl with good intentions don't do crap like that.

So sorry you had a rough patch there with the battery. Been there myself but thankfully my jump box worked. Are you running a dc to dc charger when the van is running? Could be that's draining the van battery when it should be auto-off. I have never had a mouse in my rig in 2 years on the road thankfully.

Now easy to say what I would have done with that douchebag but here I go… One the other girl showed up you could have had convo with her and both told POS to foff. Once he approached and you said shit and he paused and came back lay on your horn. Also like the cop in previous comment said his behaviour was not normal so call cops let them Chase him outta there. Last I’m Following your channel so do you girl! Il watch and be jealous it’s not me lol cheers

Love your tips. I solved the flat-parking-spot dilemma a long time ago. I sleep in a hammock in my small Nissan NV200. Doing so opens up many more spots to overnight. Before overnighting in a residential area, I usually cook my meal in a mall or business parking lot. As you suggest, I try to park near a playground or park. As I have a 17 ft sea kayak and cargo box on my rack, I think most people believe I’m visiting friends in the neighbourhood, on my way to a kayaking destination. Never had night knock in ten summers of travelling.
