When I was in the club, I would drink coffee at the bars.

Wow. This brings back memories. I had stopped drinking for about a yr I would guess. I joined The American Legion and started to go to the local legion down the road from me. It started out with me drinking non alcoholic beer. That lasted about a week. I saw everyone having a "good" time and carrying on. Then I started drinking bud light. And started drinking more and more hard stuff. Before I knew it I was sucked back to drinking and carrying on each weekend. I can't remember how long I did this but I finally stopped. Praise God it's been about fifteen years since I had a drink. I stay out of bars because I don't want to be temped. I will go into a tavern once in a blue moon if they have food though. Pray to the Lord about what you should do in this situation. God Bless.

Never been one to hang out at bars. Tried it for a year with Infantry buddies. I never had more fun than when I quit that in order to start exploring other places and countries in my spare time. I wasn't really having fun in the alcoholic hobbies that became their own rut into destruction. There's so much world and life to explore beyond staring at the spinning ceiling! I love your wisdom. At bars there is trouble,always someone with a chip on their shoulder. The rallies seem to have more people sitting on their bar stools than their motorcycle seats?😮

I quit drinking at 58 yrs old I drank for 42 years and didn't damage any organs ,so I figured a good time to quit and yes I rode my harley fkd up . I look back and know how lucky I got. Ive been riding my 2001 harley roadking classic for 21 years and i just added a new kawasaki klr 650 dual sport to my stall, its a blast to ride on a little adventure on Saturdays.

I have a strict “No drinking if riding” rule. I drink soda or water when on the Harley.

I was a problem drinker. I quit back in '05, lost four good friends riding motorcycles. Keep the rubber side down!

I go wherever i feel like and don’t drink Sober since 88 by the grace of God. I still play music in bars but just stand back and watch people do what they do. A real friend will support you not drinking

I believe it takes having a conversation and an understanding with your bartender.

I say, keep going to the biker bar on Taco Thursday 🌮. Just tell the waitress when you order, you only want one beer or water. It's good to go out and do different things. It's healthy for the mind ....

Good video, Mark. I am learning to be very careful with alcohol as well. On a lighter note, I have a good buddy who has said several times he wants this put on his tombstone: "I spent half my life drunk and chasing women, the other half I wasted".

I don’t drink anymore because for one I’m smarter now but also I’m a trucker and don’t want to lose my license. I ride with others and drink water or soft drinks and do just fine.

Going to the Local biker bar & having one beer & some taco's is the way to go Mark . Also the rally rides can be alcohol free , or one beer prior to leaving the last bar for the ride home . You make it a treat , not a bad habit . All the best !

We like you the way you are buddy don't have to impress nobody and there's better things to do when you're bored than that. I haven't had a drink at 33 years and I'm God blessed. I'd rather put a gun to my head than have a beer. I love ya man. But it's good talking about it. You're weighing your decisions. I guess if you could have one walk away. That's not bad , I can't... much love brother !!! Ps: They have good people in the AA.. There's a lot of crazy bikers in the fifth chapter that have all learned their lessons !!! My old man said to before he passed that I could have brought a house with the money I wasted on bikes and parties. I have friends, real friends from those years and memories of the good times that I had but life changed and the house came along later. I still ride and meet my pals but meet up at each other's homes and chill over a tea / coffee. Reference cameras, everybody seems to be vlogger now and you cant get away from the bloody things, especially if you pull into a bike cafe etc !! Ride when ever you can, one day it may be to late.

If I lived closer I’d go for a riding with you. It’s my favorite thing to do. I’m on the east coast.

Thanks for another great video Mark. When I go on a run, I will maybe have 1 real beer at one of the stops. But since I love beer, i will get a non-alcoholic beer at the rest of the stops, then once the run is over, we'll head back to the hotel or buddy's place, wherever we might be if out of town, park the bikes then hit the local biker bar and have some more drinks if we desire to do so. No crusin' & boozin' for us, we take it pretty seriously. But I definitely enjoy hanging out at the biker bar after a run, just no riding after the liquid refreshments start going down.

I see no problem with going to your local biker spot, have a nice meal, commiserate with some people, If you choose to have a drink or not, so be it. We're old enough to make decisions to accept risks or not to. Like wearing a helmit or not, to wear proper gear or not. It's all the same. I can have just as much fun drinking water, or soda, or booze. I'm responsible enough to know my limitations. I'm not going to over do it with the alchol, the speed, or over riding my abilities. It's all about self discipline and self control. You've got it figured out, we're not as young as we once were. Life and experience have changed us. Hopefully for the better. Lol. Thanks for this video! Hey same here. I don’t go to biker bars and no longer not even to club parties or participate in runs. Been there done that. 10 years ago I loved the feeling of riding in a pack but not anymore. This will be the first season I’ll avoid every single run. I find it stressful. There is all to often risky situations and nowadays I really prefer the total freedom. Biker bars were never my thing. I gotta be the worse patch holder out there 😂 I enjoy my fam of course and hanging with them. But yeah, I feel that my road is leading towards being a loner. my bros and i dont drink like we used to, so we do coffee and breakfast runs during the weekdays, and on saturdays we like to head out and find the old general stores out in the country and grab the glass bottle cokes or orange sodas. about once a year we do all get together at a buddy's barn and let it rip so we remember why we dont do that every other night like we used to lol

As an active alcoholic who fell off the wagon I think you should try some sober bike club events. I know you aren’t an alcoholic but you don’t want 3 beers to progress into blacking out. It might be nice to meet some like minded people because from personal experience I started out them same way now I’m having a hell of a time getting sober. For what it’s worth

Me, being a single woman, I would not even think about going into a biker bar, or any bar for that matter. Every time I’ve done so, it ended with me being bothered by some disgusting creep, or almost getting myself entangled into a bad situation. Going out with friends where all of us look out for each other is the safest idea.

Sounds like our younger days are similar. Though in my area, biker camaraderie is pretty much non-existent anymore. Everyone sticks to their own group they rode in with and doesn't converse with others. In my older years, I enjoy solitude and quiet, so it's all good. I don't drink anymore when I'm riding, but I'll sometimes go to a biker bar with my riding buds and have lunch. Have a good week!

Itchy praying for you bud. When it comes to going to a bar Jesus did sit with sinners but he did not sin.i play on two pool leagues I use that as a mission field. God has given and used me to share the good news. I pray my way in and I pray my way out. And I have to ask for the Full Armor of God to protect me. I drink diet soda. The Bible talks about Jesus and hanging with prostitutes and sinners but he knew he could. I believe we sometimes don't know our limitations and we get over our head and in trouble real quick. It is better to abstain than to be sucked in. God bless you Mark I know you're trying. Keep it up.

I go to bicker bars all the time and drink pop. The people I ride with do drink alcohol and they never comment on what I’m drinking. Don’t give up your days out. Enjoy all the time you have.

Here in the UK we can get beer with zero alcohol, when i meet my mates at bike nights, usually held at pubs, I drink it, it looks and tastes like beer, without the risk of being pulled over by the old bill and then losing your driving licence.

I like that saying “everything in moderation”, maybe don’t go every Taco 🌮 Tuesday 😊 one can always make them at home and really home cooked is best. Though one does need to get out and about and enjoy this thing called life. A social drink is nice, but I have seen what can happen when riding/driving under the influence. Sending prayers. 💜🙏🏻

If you like going to the bar, keep going. Just let the bartender know that after the first beer, you'll be drinking water for the rest of the night. However, if they serve tacos on Tuesday and taco soup on Wednesday, you might want to find a new bar 😁

Happy Easter Mark, ya know I'm 36 and just hit that point where I've looked back at all the drunken nights out on the bike and since September I've pretty much "quit" drinking. Not afraid of having a beer or too but just woke up one day and decided Ef this. Became to expensive and then add in a little bag of wake me up I'm just all set with it. I'm happier on a Dailey basis and spend way more quality time with my daughter. Some of my buddies break my balls but I'm pretty good at holding the line. I went out last night w some of the guys and had 4 beers home by midnight..... there was a time it would be 5 am and my old lady would be calling to make sure we're still alive. Anyways happy Easter and I'm dead ass serious we ought to be having a BBQ at the beutiful plot if land ya have there! We're about 4 hours from ya!

Have you considered instead of the Coors light, an non alcoholic beer? Some taste pretty good, the bottle looks like a beer so your buddies won't give you crap, and some like Heineken zero tastes pretty good without getting you buzzed. Have the barmaid start putting out a non alcoholic brew each time and it'll be a normal thing in no time without the buzz, guilt, and hangover!

Dont have to drink 10 of em. Have a couple enjoy EVERY DAY of your life. Harmless fun as I see it.

Mark, as for me I’d have to say no biker bar. Personally I see no problem having a beer or 2 , I just don’t think that’s wrong , as a Christian . But , I’ve taught Sunday school for young people , have done other things in the church . That being said , I don’t want to put myself in a position to be a stumbling block for someone else. Again , I have no issue with a drink , I guess if one of those young (now adults ) saw me hanging out at the bar, they might get the idea that I really didn’t believe what I was teaching them in previous years . I do occasionally go to the VFWs but don't like it. I would love to meet more people but when you live rural sometimes its the only game in town to meet someone or hang out with friends. I miss a good fire at home with friends.

Itch you should check out a klr 650 adventure bike to add to your collection, not that expensive, easy to work on and a blast 2023 or 2024 models .

Your Bike is looking good. I miss mine so much but I just couldn't ride anymore due to health issues. I have been to bike events but would have to drink Non alcoholic beer because of my meds. It tastes good but I guess some people might hassle you about it. So have a Taco and a Coors NA next time. Don't ever sell your bike. The other night I was at the bar with my car doing karaoke.. in the bartender knows me well... I was drinking absolute.. and seltzer because I am on a low-carb diet it's either that or light beer.. anyway the bartender she was giving me doubles!! Double shot! And I didn't know it I downed three of those and man I was pretty lit decided not to drive..

Yeah Mark the American Legion on Okinawa was exactly the same way. The problem there was someone was always buying a round so if you are there for more than an hour you’ve got 2 drink tabs in front of you. The poker runs here are the same. Always stopping at bars. Normally here it’s so crowded that no one notices if you don’t drink. I’ll have a beer or maybe 2 while out on the bike but not more than that. I’ve seen guys order pitchers at stops and expect me to sit with them. Not happening buddy. Stay safe and be careful. Time and a place for everything.

Hi Itchy, I don't think you need to stop going for Tacos, you just need to be a little more assertive with the Bar Tender. Last week I got to talking to an old guy at the bike show and he brought up his first wife. It sounded like he had a colorful past. He said she hit him on the head with a brick. Two hours later she came out of the bar. He said she thought she killed him. I asked him what happened to her. He said they asked him if he wanted to press charges. He said he did not want to press charges. I said really, He said we were like that all the time. I told him that a lot of the time when something bad happens to me there is a little something good comes out of it. I told him not take it the wrong way but did anything good come out of it. He thought for a second, then said well I quit drinking. That's the way it is sometimes Itchy, you just need a good wack on the head to bring you to your senses.

Personally..I cannot stand bars....I do not get drunk and do not like being around drunks.....you have to be drunk to be around drunks.

There are two ways to look at it you’re not as young as you use to be. If you don’t drink there are other places bikers can go. But on the other hand when the food is good. Itchy I always knock a couple back before I ride and I mean a couple but when your at the bar it's to easy to lose your self with music comforts of friends and put one to many away and over do it. I can ride drunk as skunk but today way to dangerous, cops and cell phone drivers etc. Like they say all good things come to a end and you know better dude if you want to have a few turn that big screen on watch a good movie make some popcorn at the ponderosa and chill. As fun as the bar is we don't need any trouble at are age. Not telling you what to do but it's time to be cool and take it low and slow.

Hiya, I have a few places that I like to eat at and like you when they seen me on the last sip they would bring me a new one and I really didn't want it so now I go in order my food and A large water and my beer and let the beer set till I'm done or sip it in between eating and don't finish it till I have check in hand to leave after a few tries I have the multi drink under control and the large water they have to refill and not the beer and yes I got that itch to ride but the same here its raining and I got both bikes ready , looking for some better rear shocks for the sporty they are the factory so the ride not so good but they still work, been doing a little yard work but came down with the flu bug and it kicked my butt Im doing better just cant get my air be safe

Why not a coffee place or ride to a breakfast place with friends?

I drink Cola or ice tea when I'm out . I'll have a beer when im home out on the deck . Make a fire or start the grill on those summer nights.

It doesn't hurt having interests away from the "culture" (and it's trappings), they won't change who or what you are, though think about this, every hour you're sittin' and sippin', you're not riding.. You can visit shops, shows, beauty spots, places, whatever, I bet there are others you know you can hang with, there in your cave, or theirs, where you don't need to drink or even need to be on commercial premises. Is your relationship with Motorcycles defined by pubs, drugs and other B.S. or being in the wind?

They have some pretty tasty non-alcoholic beers nowadays not like years ago and they are well. OK... If you were an alcoholic you should not be drinking non-alcoholic beer but if you're not an alcoholic.. and you're riding a bike definitely consider non-alcoholic beer.. they even look like real beer bottles nowadays far different from the old ol DROOLIES non-alcoholic beer much better nowadays
