Gary, once you cut off the front of the over hang, put on your sub facia leaving an additional 16" hanging off the ends to give you a start point for working on the side over hang.

If you boxed the original overhang you would be able to put pot lights in and if you wanted you could put some straight out in the porch overhang. Just a suggestion. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.

Leave the house overhang on, then if some reason the porch roof comes off ( strong wind, tornado) the house is okay, 🤔

Because one of many hobbies is arts & crafts, my fingers always go thru a 2 step introduction. Step 1 is to draw a thumbnail sketch (to capture the idea onto paper) which is an academic term. Step 2 is to create a wallet size concept also known as (aka) a model (a parallel to the cardboard pattern). In the field of rhetoric, that cardboard pattern is called a sentence outline. Thus, establishing a pattern (term from the Fabric industry) serves as a good test run , as well as a guideline (a map) for the construction.🙂

As for the Dental conversation, top teeth are injected around the tooth itself. Bottom teeth, are injected in the back corner where the jaws meet. That affects the entire side they are working on up to midline. Hope this explains your questions. ❤HUGGS❤ !!!

You guys have enough to do.think I'd finish the framing before worrying about the facia. I know its easier to cut it off now. Keep it going. Put a board across it and it will help you see it. anchor the board on the high end back about 3 joist then swing it down then just build up the cabin roof to match the porch roof . Measure everything from the swinging board. Try it off camera. I was a metal fabricator for years. I can see it but i have a hard time explaining .

Once you get the framing figured out you can span the distance from the cabin roof to the porch roof with soffit for ventilation and drainage. If stuff starts leaking, Like the idea of leaving the overhang just in case. It's already complicated because of the trapezoid shape. Thinking it through is important. Might need to

The rafters do need to be trimmed. How they are right now they stick out way too long and they are uneven.

hi there, i havent seen anyopne build a balcony like you do but there is a buildings that is kinda similare and that is called "corner pergola" it is basically a corner whit a roof on and i dunno if that could help you but that is what i found. if you ask me then you could look at "Fan Shaped Corner Pergola" that one is close to your building on your balcony. i would say that the thing you build on the balcony is a huge Fan Shaped Corner Pergola structure (but i can be very wrong about that) but that is how i see it. hope this helps.

@carolyndaughter5161 It’s fine to be honest with people. We are their listening audience. I get anxious when I can’t hear what one person is saying over the other one or when someone fake laughs to make something appear funny and then I can’t hear what’s being said. Gary looks away from the camera many times as it appears he is trying to find the words he wants to say. Mel looks at the cameras as if she wants to be sure she looks good (which she always does). They are trying to build their viewership. They are learning.
