After a couple years, the dad's friend left the company (retired, quit, fired, we don't know), and the moment that guy was gone, both Phil & his dad were let go. If someone doesn't do it for him, it wont happen. Someone would have to find Phil a job AND ensure that Phil wouldn't be allowed to do anything critical, important, or worthwhile AND ensure that Phil would never, ever be fired. So it would take the owner of a company to hire Phil, stick him in a corner somewhere doing something a chimp could do, and just ignore him and tell the other employees to ignore him too.

The main way that DSP has survived is because at any one time, he has around 3 major whales throwing cash at him behind the scenes, plus many of the people who make content about him, financially support him too. A lot of his regular donors are the people who exploit him for views. If you see those YT guys who do nothing but put out DSP content while having subscriptions, tip buttons, merch stores, patreons, and wishlists, chances are they are paying Phil some money, as they can't have him totally fold up and quit. Also, a lot of the people who heavily support the DSP detractors used to be Phil supporters and whales, and they turned against Phil, but as they are used to throwing cash at people they like, they started whaling and supporting for his detractors instead.
