Texas Pitmasters have been using this blend for ever. They call it SPG but most don’t tell you about the onion powder because they think they have to keep secrets or something. A few use Lawry’s seasoned salt in their blend in addition to or in place of the onion. I use it on pretty much anything I put in my smoker.

is it better to substitute the regular table salt for kosher salt?

Kosher salt is easy to pinch and spread according to cooks and chefs compared to table salt. But you can use what you have.

@@vk081064 You place the spices/seasonings in separate aluminum pans and then place them/it into the smoker making sure to stir them around occasionally.
