The first three pirate movies are all masterpieces. So crazy entertaining and convoluted with double, triple, and quadruple crosses. There's just no figuring out how things are going to play out...and that's why they're awesome.

Fun fact: In the game of Liar's Dice between Jones, Will and William(Bootstrap) ; just by joining the game as the third player William (Bootstrap) made sure that Will could NEVER LOSE no matter how the dice rolled This is because in most versions of Liar's Dice that exist in the real world, you can only call out the previous player's bid. So William (Bootstrap) was never gonna call out Will's bids and Jones could only call out William's (Bootstraps') bids. Figuratively and literally putting himself between Jones and his son and sacrificing himself to keep him safe.

Drop some knowledge on you Leo: Capt Jack was hired by beckett to haul 100 slaves aboard his ship, when Jack set the slaves free Beckett had his ship burned and sunk. Edit: forgot to mention Beckett branded Sparrow a pirate after that, hence the brand. Jack has the now renamed Black Pearl raised from the depths for 13 years by Davy Jones in exchange for the 100 souls Jack saved from slavery and death which Jones considered rightfully his. Jack was then betrayed by Barbosa which led to the events of all the movies. Jack is constantly looking for a way to live forever to sail the seas as a free man for eternity.

Fun fact: When Tia Dalma let Jack the monkey out of his cage, he runs to a pair of booted feet, who we later learn is Barbossa but the cast were not about it. They thought Annamaria, the woman whose boat Jack stole in the first movie would be coming down the stairs. Their reactions to seeing Barbossa instead were genuine😁 Love this movie series

Jack did not abandon his men during the kraken attack scene. Jack assumed that by going away from the pearl and the crew, the kraken will follow him and the kraken will leave the pearl and the crew alone. When he realized the kraken is not following him, he came back.

Fun fact: The Pirates of the Caribbean movies single handedly got me into Rum 😂

That scene of the kraken destroying the ship towards the end with the organ playing is so epic man

You can actually play Liars Dice in the original Red Dead Redemption. The way it works is each player has 5 dice which they are allowed to look at. Players then bid on how many of a certain die are on the table. So if you had 3 fives, you would be bidding safely if you called that out. The next player has to bid an incremental number, so 4 of something, next player has to bid 5 and so on. This stops when a player calls out "Liar!" on the previous player's bid and all players show their dice. If the bid was true, the challenging player loses, but if the bid is false, the bidding player loses. Bootstrap Bill basically overbid intentionally to stop Will from joining the crew.

"Having a blast" is a perfect way to describe watching pirates of the Caribbean movies as a kid.

Will didn't technically lose, bootstrap did. The rules of the game are pretty straightforward. You can find the rules if you look up "liars dice". Wills father put himself between will and Davy to protect him. In the game you only have 2 choices. Up the dice number or call out the person who went immediately before you. Bootstrap made it impossible for Davy to trap will. If Davy said 13 dice of the same face then Will could call him out for lying (if will has less than 3 of that dice number then he knows it's a lie). So Davy's only choice is to win against Bootstrap by calling his lie or to lose to Will by betting on a number he knew was likely impossible.

I recall making a delivery to Disney Studios, in Burbank, CA, back in ‘04/‘05-ish. In their parking lot, was a huge rigging, with a large, square-ish green screen. In front of the screen, was a large water wheel, & near its base, tables with several cutlasses/swords, & (If memory serves?) 2 of the “Dead Man’s Chests”. Also, seated nearby… some young man dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow! (Without the wig.) I figure they were set up to film the wide shot of the three men, battling each other, inside the wheel. (Would’ve loved to have been able to stick around & watch.) Also… Over 30 years ago, I worked in the Ghost Town Shows/entertainment dept at Knott’s Berry Farm, robbing their train, & participating in various other shows. We had another “train bandit”, Tom DuPont, who not only became the sword master for these flicks, but also doubled for Norrington in the water wheel fight scene, Barbossa in #4, & Salazar in #5, & trained the actors in fencing/coordinated the sword fights! After watching this flick for the first time in theaters, I recognized his name in the credits (Did you watch the post credits scene? Each flick has them!) & contacted Tom through the Stuntman’s Association, to congratulate him, on his success! Please watch all 5 Pirates flicks! Enjoy!

To fill you in on some of Davy Jones' backstory. He was once a man who fell in love with the sea goddess. She made a bargain with him; to sail the Flying Dutchman for eternity, ferrying the souls of those who died at sea to the other side. And once every 10 years, he could come ashore and be with her. Jones did his task dutifully, thinking of nothing but the day they'd reunite in passionate love. Only when the time came that they could be together again, she ditched him. So consumed with grief at her betrayal that Jones tore his heart out and forsake his duty, transforming him into the monster you see here. I won't give away the rest of the story, as you'll learn more in the sequel, but here are some facts about Jones. When Jones was being designed, they actually took a lot of inspiration from the Devil. His hat is made to resemble devil horns, he makes deals with people in exchange for their souls, which are either press ganged into his service, or condemned to Davy Jones' Locker (which becomes their own personal Hell based on their worst fears and torments) and he became a monster when he fell from grace with a god. Also, the Kraken isn't Jones' brother. It's his pet. Jabba had a Rancor, Jones had a Kraken.

The theater I was in went ballistic when Captain Barbosa showed up at the end, such an awesome character!

Leo, the game they are playing is called Liars Dice in real world. One player calls their hand. The other player may either call a higher-ranking hand, call the bluff, or re-roll some or all of their dice. When a bluff is called, the accused bluffer reveals their dice and the winner is determined.

The reason why the Pirates perked up when searching for the "lady" is because Sailors and Pirates were on the seas 90-95% percent of the time and rarely made port for supplies and such so they don't exactly get alot of r&r and it's also the cause of their bad hygiene.

The dice game does have actual rules, and they are actually playing by them. There's a video on youtube explaining the game and also taking apart the deleted scene where the rules are explained to Will by his father by commenting the game of the other crew members.

Fun wee fact: in the final scene the cast didn’t know that Barbosa was coming down the stairs so their looks of surprise were real

37:54 So this is an old vid but fun little fact for you here. The game is called Liars Die. Each player is given 6 dice at the start of the game and a cup. You sake it, and put the dice on the table covered by the cup. This ensures no one can alter or cheat their rolls. Then, you tip your cup to see your dice. Dice roll a number between 1 - 6 and you get a total of 5 results. Now, this is where it gets tricky. The first player has to choose a Dice Number and guess how many dice are on the table between all players of that number. So, lets take the movie for example. Bootstrap starts the game bidding 3 2s. He choose the dice number 2 and assumed that among all players, there are a minimum of 3 copies. Important Note: Your bid (the numder of copies of a die) can never go lower tham the previous bid. I believe in some versions of the game, you have to (at least) bid 1 higher than the previous player. In this case, Davy bids 4 4s. Then, Will follows up with a bid of 4 5s. This will keep going around the table until one of two things happens. A, you are called a lier or B, you call another player a lier. In either case, once a player is accused of lying, the dice are revealed and the judgement is made. If the player who called you a lier is right, they win. If they are wrong, they loose. In less strict games that want longer plays, this rule can be subbed out with the Accuser or Accused loosing 1 die and the rounds reset. Then, if you loose all your dice, you are out of the game. The nice part of that adjustments is the number of dice on the table is always decreasing and thus the maxamum number you can bid is decreasing, pushing players to be more anxious and willing to call people out for lying. It is by far a fun game. Imo. I think they skipped the scene in this but you are supposed to at least see what you have rolled before you bid. That gives you an idea of what you have VS the table and lets you start with a safe bet. So, my guess is that Wills dad did have the 3 2s and by him announding as such, you can assume when you make your bid, there are now three less dice that can match your bid and thus your bid limit for that die changes. Though, you can also deice to change the dice number any time you bid. The only number that has to constently go up is your bet.

There’s a deleted, extended scene when Norrington brings the Heart to Beckett. Beckett restores his rank and promotes him to Admiral with a new sword. Norrington looks at his new sword and what it represents with a look of regret, he restored his honor but it’s clear he feels guilty abandoning the others. He even offers to kill Davy Jones by stabbing the heart. Beckett stops him saying they have the heart and that means Jones has to work for them.

The reaction of them seeing Captain Barbossa is genuine becauss they were told someone else was supposed to come out (the girl pirate in the 4th movie) but instead they did him and they were all in shock. But so were the viewers too who watched it so whoever decided to put in the movie deserves a pay raise

Great reaction! The reason that Davy Jones has that large lump on the back of his head is becuase that is what the back of most octopus body looks like. Just to be clear the kraken is pronounced "crack-in". As you continue with the next movie you will see more of davy jones back story as well as why that voodoo lady was so important. The 3rd movie is about bringing back Jack so no worries he will be in it. Unfortunatly the 4th movie after that will not include Will and Elizabeth. They WILL return for the 5th movie pun intended. This disney movie series is great and I loved them all. Im glad johnny got the justice he deserved for his trial and I will miss him in the pirates series. It just wont be the same without johnny depp. Disney really messed up with that one. Unfortunately disney has gone too much into the feelings department and let it mess with their productions. This is my opinion and im allowed to state it so no one argue with me please.

The Kraken is more like Davy Jones’ pet or guard dog. If you have his heart, you have leverage over him and thus can control him, the Flying Dutchman (his Ship) and the Kraken. If you stab the heart and kill him, you’ll have to take his place as Captain of the Flying Dutchman and collect sailor souls like he did.
