I love how they set this up. The whole time people have been saying she doesn’t have a strong voice and Curtis says she’s only a star cause her voice has no character. Then she busts this out like a big middle finger to him as if to say “I’ll show you character bitch”. Gives me chills every time.

(but lbr, every scene in the movie is the best scene in the movie.) i just love how after deena has sung in that light, pleasant pop voice through the whole movie she finally breaks out from under curtis and gets so soulful and wild. beyoncé was amazing in this role

@highelectricaltemperature
@highelectricaltemperature 3 жыл бұрын
@@carteranimationz2897 She does, but it's less of a showstopper. There's a sung scene between Deena & Curtis right after "This time Effie White's gonna win". It starts "Curtis, what kind of man are you / How could you try to stop Effie," and evolves into a brief reprise of "You Are My Dream", which then segues into "Hard to Say Goodbye". I think some of the lyric from the libretto made it into the movie as straight dialogue.

1:22 Deena felt guilty because she didn't know that they sang Effie's song that Curtis stole. She just followed what Curtis want to do with the group. In the beginning, she admitted she can't sing like Effie and she didn't want to. Peoples still hate her and most of them are Beyonce hater.

Listen To the song here in my heart A melody I start but can't complete Listen To the sound from deep within It's only beginning to find release Oh, the time has come For my dreams to be heard They will not be pushed aside and turned Into your own, all 'cause you won't listen Listen I am alone at a crossroads I'm not at home in my own home And I've tried and tried To say what's on my mind You should have known Oh, now I'm done believing you You don't know what I'm feeling I'm more than what you made of me I've followed the voice you gave to me But now I've got to find my own You should have listened There is someone here inside Someone I thought had died so long ago Oh, I'm screamin out And my dreams will be heard They will not be pushed aside or worse Into your own, all 'cause you won't listen Listen I am alone at a crossroads I'm not at home in my own home And I've tried and tried To say what's on my mind You should have known Oh, now I'm done believing you You don't know what I'm feeling I'm more than what you made of me I've followed the voice you gave to me But now I've got to find my own I don't know where I belong But I'll be moving on If you don't, if you won't Listen To the song here in my heart A melody I start but I will complete Oh, now I'm done believing you You don't know what I'm feeling I'm more than what you made of me I've followed the voice you think you gave to me But now I've got to find my own, my own

Wow! I heard this song thousands of times and was so impressed by Beyoncé vocals that I never put the words in the context of the scene, surprisingly. The words resonated so deeply with me this time around. Her character is literally pleading and it completely went over his head. I can’t even fathom how her character felt in that moment after putting her entire heart out and him dismissing it. Lord! I need to meditate.! That pissed me off! Lol Beyoncé! Flawless!

Zaria Campbell, sweetheart go back and look at the words. She's telling you what needs to be done. Forget everyone else. Their opinion means crap if you are happy with what you are doing.. DO NOT Live for other people and their happiness. When things get tough and YOU need help from trying to please them, they will disappear like leaves in the wind. You say people don't listen? So Stop talking to those people. Obviously they don't give a crap.. Either find others to talk to, put it in a diary or just stop giving info. It makes them feel Big that you come begging them to listen. When you stop, they will come to you to find out what happened. Just say "nothing happened." And walk away. By then you will have friends that care. Stop making yourself the victim.
