Did you notice that in the photo booth, they looked whole and healthy but the pictures that come out show their faces bruised and battered? IU's voice is incredible and V's acting is superb!

Such a beautiful and emotional video featuring amazing acting and vocals. I really do hope that Tae & IU do other projects together both film and music as they have great chemistry and when he was on her show their voices also blended so well. Also at the end it was pointed out by someone that he can hear what is coming but she can't while she can see what is coming but she covers his good eye so he can't. Both cry at the same moment though and from the same left eye. I also noticed the cube waits for them to stop fighting and accept their fate. If you notice there are no other people so obviously no person is able to meet the criteria this cube holds that would allow someone to survive. I can't get enough of this MV, the acting is Oscar level and combined with the award worthy vocals and lyrics it's both heartbreaking but also heartwarming that at least they went together.

There are so many layers of story telling and metaphors and the director has explained what the storyline is. It’s a beautiful way for him to convey the message. In addition to this one part of my interpretation is based on the fact that Tae is blind in one eye and has burn scars around that eye. You can see at the beginning he is looking vulnerable, fragile and afraid. IU is leading him and is protective throughout. My interpretation is that he had encountered the cube before and narrowly escaped being captured and so is going through all the emotions from it. At the end, you see IU trying to protective him by picking up the metal bar because (to me) she knows what he went through and wants to protect him. And Tae taking the bar and attacking the cube looks to me like he knows what the cube is capable of and despite his fear of it, he wants to protect her. At the end it didn’t work and you can see the cube glow red with heat and smoke coming off their bodies (burn marks around his eyes). The ending was so poignant. The song was amazing and felt more epic because of the storyline and visuals. They have great chemistry, first with the amazing duet they did on IU’s Palette and now with their acting skills, not to mention their interactions as friends. It’s so good to see Tae being able to express his acting skills even in a 5minute short. I hope he starts doing movies on his return. This movie really makes everyone feel emotional and they did that with their facial expressions, truly stunning. IU is queen for a reason and Tae our idol of idols never disappoints in his unique take on life and the choices he makes, whether to make an album of music he likes or to act in a short film all choices with a sad, emotionally moving ending. He wants his artistry to move us emotionally rather than hit the top spots on charts. Love these two artists. It’s time to stop calling this kpop.

IU is a well renowned actress in Korea, who has acted in many movies & Kdrama. Tae did one Kdrama years ago, but directors hopefully will pursue him for more roles once he gets out of the Army. Their chemistry, the acting on both parts, the cinematograpy, & IU's haunting beautiful voice made this MV 💯 perfect. Since IU & V are close friends in real life, I'm happy she picked him for her co-star, this was a beautiful gift that V gave us before enlisting, made possible by IU. The pile of clothes has a deeper meaning. Originally Christian Boltanski built a pile of clothes with small piles of clothes around it and with a crane that would slowly pick up the clothes from the smaller pile and add it to the bigger one. The big pile of clothes illustrates the heaviness of all the hearts now lost. Every article of clothing symbolizes one person who died. So in the music video the clothes represent all the people who have died, that after we are gone we are all just a pile of clothes. Christian says "When the clothes are falling down its very optimistic. Like souls, they are free". So for me that makes the ending so much more profound.

I think it was the best 5 minutes 22 seconds MV I’ve never seen anything like it before. Her voice and “dearest, darling,my universe” tells me this is gonna be good but scary p, it’s not gonna end right. You need to watch it a couple more times and compare the lyrics with acting. The Director did an awesome job in the editing to fit the lyrics and music tempo. It was an Romantic Cinematic Music Video. Leaves you speechless. Both are awesome actors, she has several Korean Dramas as a lead, just watching RUN BTS, V has on many occasions fooled his brothers playing MAFIA GAMES.

I'm just copy pasting an explaination I saw under another video: The Cube represents society, it is chasing every individual who doesn't fit the standards of society. Here V is half blind, IU is deaf and mute. So they are running from oppression of society. The world is controled by these standards of perfection to the point that people in sk put masks on when they don't have make-up or when they feel inssecure or they wear hats when their hair is messy. The MV is a dystopian view of our society. While they are trying to hide in this abondonned place filled with the clothes of people who died because of this oppression, they find a camera that allows them to have an illusion of what their lives could be if they were "normal" by society's standards, it starts with their looks, they could see how they would have looked like, then what they would eat, then they start to feel the illusion a bit too much to the point they beautifully imagine that IU could sing and V could sing as well and she could listen to his voice, they could marry each other and just have fun and eat whatever they want because they wouldn't have to care about society or any other kind of oppression. However, as soon as they feel a little bit of confort and try to live their life, the Cube (society) finds them again and push them to retreat and flee again, but the Cube managed to find them again, they try to survive against it and try to fight it as hard as they can, but they cannot beat a stronger system, they just give up but at least they stayed together until the end. Even if they died at the end, they loved each other deeply, it shows that even if society is oppressive, people can love each other and they can find their soulmate even if they are not "normal or perfect" to the eyes of some many others. The pile of clothes is like from Spring Day, these people died because of injustice, but they deserved love, so the pile of clothes can look very gloomy and sad, but as in Spring Day MV if you don't forget them you can seem them happy and free where they are right now...

I view it as social commentary in South Korea explaining why the youth aren’t getting married. Societal pressures and the economy (the cube) have injured them and wants to destroy them. Notice they see they live in the traditional way through the old school camcorder, representing a time when young people in love could marry and have a great future. The reality is different today for young people. They still love, but it will have to without the marriage and amenities of the past.

He did received so many acting roles but he had to decline because group commitment and he wanted to focus music during solo era for fans. He said that he had desire for acting but fans would want music album more than his acting. He could have been in so many drama/movies…he can still act when he return from military commitment but unfortunately, his younger (teen and 20’s) times will not coming back. 😢
