Gothmog is failing and Sauron is weak and angry, a new demon must be found to support the orchs continious slaughters. At the same time the pillars of Mordor is shaking while inner fighting is reaching closer and closer to Sauron himself, the High orchs are smelling the blood and weaknes of Saurons himself.

Ivan's comment at about 30:00 about the change of attitude of the Soviets. During the Cold War one of Europe's fears was an American/Soviet condominium. By this was meant that the two great powers would decide the fate of nations between themselves without much reference to those affected.

yes, thank you for continuing to make these interviews available Chechnya is quite a strange case at times, I sure hope that it is a part of the Russian empire's soft underbelly that finds a route to democratic self governance, but the region of the Caucuses is let us say, "rather problemtic" and not easy to find peace without a strong central government that keep the competing players in line.

Thank you, Jonathan, for your conversation with Ivan U. Kłyszcz. The more we hear from the experts on your channel, the more I am unable to understand why there was no response by democratic governments around the world to the invasion of Ukraine in 2014 and why the full-scale invasion was still not enough to actually do something instead of talking hot air. I fear this years election results around the world. 🇺🇦 Перемоги і миру всім українцям! 🇺🇦

An interesting discussion about control through insidious meddling on a truly epic scale. The art of subterfuge is also taken to the highest level by autocratic regimes, with Russia being the most advanced player. We can and must fight with exposure of the lies and at all times speak up with clarity and total transparency, even to the extent of exposing corruption within our own governments. We have to be ruthless in this area and determined, acting with total conviction.

Not only has Russia absolutely dominated the academic space - but it’s the Russocentric colonialist gaze that’s absolutely dominated. And it’s not just Ukraine that the academia has failed. There are no Sakha studies, nor Chechen studies, nor Tatar studies

If the “Stans” of the former Russian empire can form a federal system that will absorb the various lands under the Russian “federation” it could be possible to draw from Moscows “sphere of influence” this would take capital backing of the government budgets and business investment.

Jonathan, the Taliban didn't kick the US out of Afghanistan. The US decided to leave Afghanistan. The withdrawal was done very badly to be sure, but it was done for American political reasons. Just to give some background, as far back as the 2000 presidential election George W. Bush ran on a platform that included a cessation of "nation building" activities by the US. Then 9/11 happened. That, including the whole GWT was a detour. This all goes back to Vietnam. There too, the US withdrew. Prior to that, though, was Korea where "nation building" has worked brilliantly. Unlike Ukraine, both in Vietnam and Afghanistan, the people the US was supporting were not willing to fight for their own freedom. So, the US has veered away from such engagement.

Why does everybody keep saying "Kadyrov's Chechnya"? This is the Kremlin's Chechnya, and there is only Russian criminal power there. It does not matter if one Russian official is named "Kadyrov" or "Petrov".
@teardrop-in-a-fishbowl
@teardrop-in-a-fishbowl Ай бұрын
As far as I remember, Chechnya has more in common with Ukraine than with Russia ("culture wise", history wise). One may correct me if I'm wrong but both were part of the "Samartian Empire" for quiet a long time. They even broke into "the West" and conquered parts of it until Rom broke them in a huge battle and thousands became part of the Roman Empire. There's significant roots of Samartians on the British Island too.

@tebulosmta1932 Ай бұрын
@@teardrop-in-a-fishbowl I would say that Chechnya and Ukraine have also more in common with Ukraine in the sense of the morbid hatred and obsession of the Russian Empire towards them for centuries, except that Chechnya has only a population of a million. Both nations have endured enormous aggression from the Russian Empire throughout history. Besides constant military attacks and massacres, Russia also uses all kinds of hybrid methods to influence the culture and manipulate the history of these peoples constantly. What all media nowadays call "Kadyrov's Chechnya" is an example of what is going to happen to Ukraine if Russia takes it over.
@martavdz4972
@martavdz4972 Ай бұрын
@@teardrop-in-a-fishbowlThey have that in common, but generally, not so much. Chechens aren't Slavs like Ukrainians and their society is Islamic and much less egalitarian. Their folk costumes are totally different, Ukraine is mostly lowlands while Chechnya is mountainous, which has huge implications in the culture and mentality. Etc. etc. They're very different countries that happen to have several things in common. My high school English teacher was Chechnyan and she looked very different from Ukrainians and her mentality was very different, she was much less easy-going than Ukrainians. Being from a mountain culture myself, I could tell she was, too.
@martavdz4972
@martavdz4972 Ай бұрын
Good point, I suppose it's because Kadyrov really has some power there. Like this video says, it's a country centered around Kadyrov's family. And he's the symbol of the Islamic leadership. It's a muslim country, so when you're talking about it's muslim aspects, Putin just won't do.

It's weirdly satisfying to watch these two cry about the failed destabilization and takeover of Chechnya. They seem to support separatism very much in this case, while completely refusing to support separatism in the case of Donbass. Says a lot about the moral values of these creatures.
