Hi there! Unfortunately, no. The ESTA program is available only to citizens of countries that are part of the Visa Waiver Program. Since you are in the UK on a student visa, your nationality is what determines your eligibility for the ESTA, not your residency status in the UK. To visit the United States, you would need to apply for a tourist visa (typically a B-2 visa) unless you are a citizen of a VWP country. In that case, you could apply for an ESTA through your own country of citizenship. If your country of citizenship is not part of the VWP, the B-2 visa is your best option for visiting the U.S. for holidays!

I got as far as uploading passport details and no information re next steps ..it seems from u video that I have to wait for a response approval and then get a reference number before I pay and complete is this correct? The information re next steps on esta process is very poor ..took.me 2 hours as I was trying to pay...

Hello there! You'll need to apply for a B1B2 US Tourist Visa. Unfortunately, the ESTA doesn't apply to your nationality.

Hi, im from the UK and applying for an ESTA to travel to the USA. There is a question asking "Is your travel to the US occurring in transit to another country?" Our plans are to fly to Los Angles, spend 4 nights there, then fly to Mexico for a week, then fly back to Los Angles for a night and then fly back to the UK. So do i need to answer YES to the question "Is your travel to the US occurring in transit to another country?" Or do i answer no? Searched online but can't really find an answer, do you know for definite please? Thanks

Hi there, sorry for the late reply! The answer would be no, because every time you travel to United States, you'll go through immigration and spend a few days in US, it’s not just transit.
