Let me add some more points - > Occupation of Malabar region of Kerala by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan is called as PADAYOTTA-KAALAM (Padayottam = Military Campaigns, Kaalam = Time / Thus Padayotta-Kaalam means "Time of Military Campaigns".) >But why repeated campaigns in a conquered area? Because local Hindus - mainly military caste Nayars kept on annihilating Mysore garrisons stationed there. For 20 years, Nayars and other Hindu martial castes fought Mysore troops. >During this conflict, local Muslims or Moplas actively sided with Mysore troops to hunt down infidels (though there are some exceptions). >Once Mysore army was gone in 1790, Malabar was plunged into a virtual civil war between Hindus and Muslims. Even British occupation failed to control it. > This violence went on for decades - even Richard Burton in his "Goa and the Blue Mountains: Six Months of Sick Leave" (1852) clearly attest this but adds an interesting point - that this happened only in "quieter parts of Malabar". >So which part of Malabar was not quiet in 1852? Their ancestors had fought Hyder and Tipu bravely. But then what went wrong? -----Evidently, they have put all their faith in government - that Government will protect them - and failed to give a community level response. Any community which becomes solely dependent on state for safety is doomed. (Admittedly, this is only a hypothesis. More research should be done into this issue w.t.r to Malappuram.)

J. Sai Deepak is an amazing orator and great thinker. Other day I had heard him debating with Sashi Tharoor and Tharoor couldn't do anything but listen to him. Coming back to lessons from Mopalah genocide of Hindus, Savarkar had warned that Hindus have attitude of "I have nothing to do with this." If Nairs are getting killed, I have nothing to do, if Punjab is burning, I have nothing to do, if there is problem with Afghan hindus and sikhs, let government handle, I have nothing to do with this. Hindus from time memorial carried out this ostrich notion of looking away from problem. So, arming Hindus will not help but awareness that all Hindus are my blood brothers attitude must be inculcated. If a hindu malyali is attacked in Kerala there should be retaliation in Bengal and vice a versa. There is a book written by Freedom fighter Madhavan Nair, He was also the secretary of Khilafath movement. At last he had to disassociate from this movement as it had turned into a pure anti Hindu massacre. The word that Sai refers to at 4:04 is 'padayottam' which literally translates as 'the run of the army'. It is not derived from 'padha - path' and 'yathra-march'. Rather it's 'pada' + 'ottam'. 'Pada' in malayalam means army and 'ottam' means 'run or the act of running'. The final meaning he gives is correct though, it indeed means the march of the army.

Sir, Its “padayottam”, പടയോട്ടം in malayalam.. which literally means “battle” (You said “padayaathra” പദയാത്ര, which means walking / travel by foot (especially by some leaders), to interact with the common people, to interact/know/hear about them ). The Moplahs are taking over the entire south of Karnataka, the Kodagu district has been completely taken over, mosques where none used to be for 60 years. The landmass of Kodagu is pre-dominantly coffee plantations, therefore the hindu populations are small as they are confined to their plantations (owners, usually confined to a small to medium sized family) where as every single town and village is taken over by the moplahs, the demography is now skewed in favour of the moplahs. Their plan is to create a modern day caliphate encompassing Northern Kerala and Malabar Karnataka, it's a slow and systematic plan and when it hits a critical threshold they will ask for a separate country/caliphate and systematically wipe out the hindu populations. This is for the most part an inevitable scenario.
