Same. I hate those films. It is reflective of real life and I hate that. Soo many Muslim girls are set up with an irreligious man to fix his imaan but it almost always messes things up. They did this in Ackley Bridge getting that guy a nice Pakistani wife, just for his irreligious self to cheat with some other woman. These girls can’t fix these low life’s. Also, these boys moms need to leave them alone and stop setting them up with decent women, Muslim or otherwise. They aren’t worth it

As a “devout Christian” I’ve seen too many “church girls” lower their standards and pick trash dudes just because the guy has “potential” and can “minister the gospel to him”. In the same boat those girls don't realized how inconsiderate they themselves are. Not only are you dating who maybe aren't the greatest, but you are pushing your beliefs on them. "You, who have already told me you don't like going to church, has an excuse everytime I ask you to go and it's starting to annoy me". STOP asking your partner do things they've explicitly told you they don't wanna do maybe???? This goes for everyone not just religious pricks like this. Either accept that y'all aren't compatible and find someone who does want to go with you, or pick something y'all'd both wanna do 🙄🙄. This urks me to no end. The gifting of a bible was also a major red flag for him. At the end of the day, he's violent and impulsive and she doesn't understand boundaries. They do not need to be together.
@haruhianderson4019
@haruhianderson4019 Жыл бұрын
@@blueismylove3128 no he said he was Christian or wanted to be Christian to try and get with her, because he knew that’s the only thing she would accept. She wasn’t pushing boundaries she was holding him to the standard he professed to aspire to. There is a difference between in house and out house religious conversations: if you do not claim to be a part of the group no one cares what you do because there’s no reason you would act differently, if you are claiming to be a part of the group there are rules and a standard by which you are measured objectively, period. This is also because the behavior of people like both characters in this movie, neither of which are really Christian but claim to be Christians, will be used by people like you to generalized Christians as a whole which isn’t cool.

Kennie: I don't know why Christian movies tend to be cringy & not good. Typically, these movies tend to be made to either just pander to Christian audiences or just be a morality play for the audience. Which is ironic for this movie because they could have had Miles willingly accept his sentence from his own crimes & have that show him as being reformed.

As someone who unfortunately had to watch quite a few Christian movies as a kid, I think (generally speaking) they really struggle with complexity- a lot of the time they function on very black and white logic and therefore have very black and white characters. The character arcs (if they have one) is almost always "bad/less Christian person becomes good/more Christian" and that's all you get. Plus they really love tropes as well, so the plot tends to be pretty clear two seconds in (especially because, again, you kind of know where everyone's arc will end up). Mostly you tend to get the 'so bad it's good' bits from them bending over backwards to make really creepy/awkward/bland stuff in the plot seem wholesome, romantic, or interesting.

I also grew up in a Christian household but the idea of “I’m gonna change a bad boy with my good girlness and Jesus” was never something on my mind. I didn’t think I was good enough for God so I was the one trying to find a devout Christian guy who could help me strengthen my faith. Well, in high school I thought I did find one, but he ended up being the most misogynistic and disrespectful guy I ever met. Once I told him that I was interested in dating him, he gave me a list of rules I had to follow. Some of the rules were, I had to wear shapeless clothes so I don’t “tempt” him, I wasn’t allowed to go to events without him, and I had to attend his church with him every Sunday, to name a few. I’m glad I ended up not dating him because I can only imagine how miserable I actually would’ve been.

First off, yikes, Christian or not, that guy is a creep and he has no business telling ANYONE how to dress. Second, as a Christian, you said something that concerned me and that was that you thought you weren’t good enough for God. In Christianity, there is no such thing as good enough for God. In the Bible it says that everyone is wicked and the only thing that saves us is the grace of God. None of us are good on our own, it’s all because of how God has changed us. Paul, one of the “writers” of the Bible, was actually a murderer before he came to God. Anyways, I’m starting to ramble, but please don’t think you have to be good in order to know God. Okay, byeeeee 🖤

My running theory as to why Christian movies are so technically bad is because they don't need to be daring. All they have to do is get a trite, pre-packaged message across to a captive audience and this idea doesn't attract many skilled film makers. They'd want more out of a project, I'm sure. It kind of sounds like a Hallmark movie. At least, where you can figure out exactly what's going to happen. As in, the Hallmark movies where this guy or girl visits a small town, sometimes after a relative has passed away. They're only there for a few days to deal with the will, then meet the baker in that town or the farmer or whatever and fall in love. Then, leave behind everything that they knew--job, friends, their entire life in the city, all for this person they've known for maybe a week or a month.
@heatherduke5410
@heatherduke5410 Жыл бұрын
@AbsentDay Oh, same! You know the plot a million miles away, but so many people love Hallmark movies. Also, Lifetime movies which...really aren't for all ages. But, if you were ever home from school sick or there was no school that day, you'd get curious. The movie that sticks out in my mind is one where Jeremy Sumpter--who'd starred in the 2003 live action Peter Pan as that character was in this movie where he was a porn addicted teen. The movie ended with him trying to drown himself in the school pool, I think. There was also a scene where he tried to watch porn with his friends at a party and was all smiles until he realized they all thought he was a weirdo.

@AbsentDay I don't blame you at all. Hallmark is pretty harmless fun. I liked their holiday movies that they showed through December. But yeah. I was in SHOCK when I saw Cyber Seduction. I mainly watched it because I was home from school sick or something and nothing else was on. Then I saw Jeremy Sumpter in it which was even more shocking since I'd last seen him in Peter Pan. Completely different role from what I was used to seeing him in.

I am a devout Christian, but imma give my 2 cents. 1. I am not anybody's saviour, if he wants to know God that's his choice 2. Prosperity gospel is the bane of my existence, my money doesn't mean happiness. Neither does the bible preach prosperity, it says the disciples were to take nothing with them except the clothes on their backs. 3. I'm not staying with a man because his dying mama said God sent me to stay with him. Imma pray and find that out myself. 4. The saviour complex dating is actually such a big problem... Can't say I'm innocent, but I know damn well I can't and shouldn't try to save men... Their problems are theirs to fix. I can help, but it's not my baggage to carry. Anyways, thanks for reading...
