Swinging and polyamory are actually on the opposite sides of the consensual non-monogamy spectrum. Swinging centers recreational sex and tends to protect the primary dyadic relationship, while polyamory centers romantic attachments and multiple relationships outside the primary dyad, and sex isn't centered quite in the same way. Open relationships is a very general concept and requires people making specific agreements and setting specific boundaries and limits for their individual relationship in order to define what "open" means and what rules will be governing this arrangement.

I've had a lot of massages because my body is broken as hell and in chronic pain and they've all been incredibly respectful and professional. They ask if if I'm comfortable before touching certain areas, they make sure I'm comfortable with how much coverage I have, just make sure I'm comfortable and relaxed in general. Sure I've had massages where maybe the pressure wasn't quite right or the masseuse's hands were a little rough or whatever, but I've never had an experience be less than great because I felt like the person was being inappropriate or made me feel uncomfortable.

Fellow bi speaking from the client side of it: When I had my back injury, my fysiotherapist would part the session in massage & excercise Instead of a turn on, it was a turn off... As in no matter how energised I would be prior to the massage, she somehow always managed to make me almost fall asleep. When the movie was called "Diary of a Unicorn," I thought it was going to be about like... A bi woman struggling to be taken seriously in a serious relationship. I shouldn't have expected anything serious or deep from tubi, and that was my mistake. I just thought that the term "unicorn" was inextricably part of the concept that someone being a "unicorn hunter" meant that they were only looking to fetishize bi woman and should be avoided. Not that the term "unicorn" itself is derogatory, but that it's specifically part of the concept of "unicorn hunting," which is not supposed to be a good thing. I didn't expect the movie to be using the word "unicorn" in like... a way that's trying to be a good thing... If that makes sense...

I was about to comment on the poly/open relationships ≠ swinging. I have a friend who is in an open marriage and one day we were talking about their dynamic. Swinging came up and I asked her “as far as I’m aware that’s not what you guys are about” and she looks at me with an Absolutely TF Not face and says hell no 😂. She then went on to explain to me that that was a reason why her and her spouse weren’t always keen to tell people because then it might give others (who do swing) the thought that they can be like “Hey, wanna wife swap??” type ish. We both looked at each with ick faces and rolled our eyes lol. All of this to say that there are big differences between swinging and polyamory/open relationships. Everyone’s dynamics are going to be different just like any other relationship, but from what I’ve seen the latter is not just a free for all.

I will say I’ve seen stuff about swinger symbols, and that specifically state not to put the black ring on the middle finger because it’s tied to the ace community. And I’ve seen PSA’s in the ace community about wearing a black ring on any other finger than the middle so both communities do seem to try and minimize the amount of confusion that could happen.

IIRC, "pineapple/s" are a common safeword, because it's unlikely you'll just spontaneously say that word. And yes, the connection between pineapples and hospitality in Europe goes back well into the 18th Century (they were a popular detail in architecture and furniture in the 1700s) because they were unusual and expensive. As for the swinging connection, I don't know. But toxic married couples looking for a bisexual woman as a third partner are definitely called "Unicorn Hunters" because the fantasy is to find the perfect lady parts to "fix" their shitty marriage.

Children, gather around for the swinging information! The biggest ‘pineapple’ community is located in FL. They are from the Orlando area down to Miami. The FL hotspot is a town/city called the Villages which is a senior community that actually switched from pineapples to shower puffs (they put them on their carts) different colors mean different things. It’s weird it’s hysterical and it’s also a little gross because that city is also becoming the new hotspot for new cases for STDs. Trying to date as a bisexual woman is already so hard because everyone is only interested in you as a "unicorn" i.e. a third in their straight relationship. We do not need this movie. "Unicorn" because they are mythical...no one wants to be your convenient sex toy who gets nothing in return. Also as far as the black ring, the only significance to a black ring I've ever heard is that it means asexual, which is pretty much the opposite of swinger...(though I think that is black ring on the left ring finger)

🍍-Once you learn about the pineapple thing you will see them everywhere. It is currently used but mostly reserved for older swingers. People that own boats will put a sticker or figure on the boat so their boat friends know. Some people do car decals,or little statues in the garden. It's not necessarily for strangers but usually is used to signal to friends. Like an unintrusive way to let people that you know personally that you and your partner are open to 'playing'. I’d never heard about the pineapple thing or the swinging ring thing either but learning about it made me laugh because in the ace community there was this whole thing of wearing a black ring on the middle finger of your right hand so you can recognise other ace people and feel less alone.
