When people ask me why i love Lost, i show them this video. I love Lost because of this kind of moments. Biblical references, historical references, destiny, faith and more abstract concepts.

This scene is kind of a double meaning to me. On the one hand, it's a foreshadowing towards Jack's belief in the island. But it's also a foreshadowing to Ben's inevitable encounter with Jacob and the fact that he was only ever remembered and treated for his bad actions and his service was seemingly forgotten on Jacob, the man that Ben served his entire life. This is a great scene in the context of the episodes past this point.

Exactly! When I first got Season 5 on DVD back in the day, I rewatched this scene a second time and it totally did refer to Ben's climatic scene with Jacob as well.

I don’t know why but this scene always make me feel ”beginning of the End” strongly. Ben and Jack seems so calm down here even though they were going back to the island on next day...

I love this story about St. Thomas and use it when we have the story of him doubting. He was willing to die with Jesus, when the others were not. Justice for St. Thomas. 🙏

I liked this scene. Ben was right about Thomas needing to be convinced and we all do, like he said to believe Jesus.

My pastor did a great sermon over Thomas; mainly talking about how he gets a bad rap: My pastor talked about how Thomas was the one to ask questions that the other disciples did not ask and of course his words about going to Judea with Jesus to die. The biggest emphasis tho is that when Jesus appeared to the other disciples, they were afraid and hiding from persecution (John 20:19). However, Thomas was not with them. My pastor speculated that _someone_ had to go out and risk their life to get supplies and find information. Since Thomas shows up in the next section, this person could be Thomas the risk taker: who had the courage to ask questions and proclaim to die with Jesus. Finally: once Thomas touches the wounds of Jesus; he proclaims “My *Lord* and my *GOD*.” None of the other disciples did this. None of the other disciples proclaimed Jesus like this before. It’s the launching point for the soon to be Apostles’ ministry. Because of this, I don’t call him “Doubting Thomas,” I call him “Thomas the risk-taker.”

They already told us that Jack was going to die in the island in this scene ! Ben is refering to him as Jesus, wanting to go back to the island, where he will die, and Ben is Thomas, the one who is gathering all the others to go back with him to the island. But people don't remember the good things he did, only her bad actions were remembered !
@poleinthewall8711 жыл бұрын
I think even Keamy had subtle moments of regret over what he was doing. His facial expressions during the scene where he kills Alex shows a man who doesn't necessarily want to kill her. Plus they do delve into his background slightly so you get an idea of why he is like he is. I think he's largely right anyway. There are people in it who are a whole lot worse than others but nothing seems left to 'this person is always characterised as good or bad'.
