I think it has been demonstrated that Deeming was in England at the time of the Ripper murders, by Robin Napper in the Discovery Channel documentary, Jack the Ripper: The Australian Suspect, and by Roger Millington in his book, The Other Jack the Ripper. That being the case, I think he's one of the better suspects. He is a known murderer who murdered in a similar manner to the Ripper, he fit the descriptions well enough, and he seems to have been crafty and able to trick people, as the Ripper probably was.

It is of note that only very small details could change how highly suspects are rated. It still shocks me the number of people who are on this list. 😳

It would be interesting to see if it could be proved the child was his as it would certainly push him up the list of suspects, he clearly wasn't a nice man at all

DNA would've been very handy back then. But as you say, it wouldn't change the fact that he was a terrible person.
