If you find pumpkins, even if there a couple bad spots or a little crushed, you can cook them in your instant pot for your dogs and cats. I freeze the purée if they have tummy problems and/or diarrhea. Works great for those problems and you can use it for baking 😊

Exactly! I just cut out the bad parts in any veggie I have . I have had problems wirh bugs eating just a bite of my tomatoes so I just cut the bug bite part out and use the rest of the tomatoe! No need to throw it out!

Been so busy I haven't watched you lately. Sad about that as you are so funny - already made me laugh in first 2 mins ..."it seems to be starting to rain - should have brought my shampoo" and "great! a rubber cover for something - don't know what ...but I love rubber covers" ...promptly puts it in box to take. You're so right! Your humour is so gentle in this wild world. You make me think of a small woodland creature just going about collecting twigs and leaves, minding your own business. Finding your own 'gold' - it's so wholesome. :)

I know you're not a meat eater, Amy but it just really frosts me that so much chicken etc. is thrown away. It is so darn expensive. Well, along with everything else, but chicken and beef are very expensive. I am glad you are able to save what you can and either freeze for future, or feed dogs and cats (and FD) or share with others. It baffles the mind to think how much is thrown and not discovered by DD. So sad. Congrats on the pie for your birthday. It is my birthday today. I can't believe how fast this year has gone. I will be having apple turn overs for my birthday treat.

I can’t believe FD threw away that gorgeous pumpkin. Someone else may have been happy to get it. I just paid $25 for mine, and that one was prettier. Even if there was something wrong in a spot on it, it still would make great soup or pumpkin pie, not to mention baked seeds with salt on them. Yum!

Strawberries! Those are a "winter fruit" in Israel and are SO expensive. Eat them fresh, with honey vanilla yogurt, and put them in shakes. Enjoy!

I would have taken the pumpkin also. put outside on path for a few days and then onto the sand, hopefully you could grow a few more pumpkins. maybe you will find a few more this week. chicken on the grill looks good

Bone char (called natural carbon, activated carbon) is used in sugar refining. It's made from animal bones that are heated to very high temperatures in an oxygen-depleted atmosphere, then used as a filter. Bone char is also used in defluoridating water and removing heavy metals from aqueous solutions. You're not actually eating the bones themselves, as they are part of the filtration. It's one way slaughterhouses stay profitable: by using by-products from their "harvests" that would otherwise be destroyed as waste.

So I looked it up. Bone char is a type of carbon which is used in the process as a filter to take colour out of sugar and make it whiter. We both learned something today lol. Love you guys!

FYI: Bone char-often referred to as natural carbon-is widely used by the sugar industry as a decolorizing filter, which allows the sugar cane to achieve its desirable white color. Other types of filters involve granular carbon or an ion-exchange system rather than bone char.
