I love you guys do this. It's sorta the bottom of the barrel. We've tried it but almost everything is locked so no fun. We forrage for food, grow items which easily replicate themselves because we are too cheap to pay out (potatoes, peas, garlic, pole beans, various invasive herbs we can eat). We spend money on seeds for sprouting but it's much less than store brand and sprouts are at peak nutrition. We volunteer at the food bank who gives us just expired milk we use to make batches of cheese over a bonfire.We also tap our local maple trees, come back alter and cook up the sap over a bonfire into maple syrup. If you have pets, you can cook up those eggs as a supplement 1-2 days a week, no more, for your dog food. Animals can only eat certain things so anything that doesn't smell rancid like chicken can be cooked and made as dog food, everything except too many eggs make dogs sick. You can start a compost pile with old vegetables you find then get free manure. We get free manure add grass clippings and kitchen scraps but you get the real deal. The chicken was probably taken from the fridge and left on a random shelf when someone decided not to buy it, the employees have no idea how long it’s been out of the fridge so it has to go in the trash
