@willd.80403 жыл бұрын
@@225marklin3 I agree that it's underrated. Just look at lists of the top songs of this genre, and it's very often left out. Many I know hadn't heard it when I first played it for them. Maybe it's a generational thing. This was released two years before I was born, so if you were in your teens or 20's you probably know it well.

Not really…this very album, ‘Late for the Sky’ is entered into and currently resides in the ‘Library of Congress’, selected by the libraries curators and the ‘distinguished members’ of the National Recording Preservation Board. This album, named by the title song ‘Late for the Sky’ was-and is-considered an extremely important work and so it resides, in perpetuity, in with the great albums ever recorded. So, no-it’s not just our imaginations. Great song, timeless album, preserved…

So glad to see Jackson perform one of his early songs. Like so many of them, it is about his life. He was married and his wife killed herself, leaving him with a small child. I always thought that was the subject of this song, although it could be about unahppy love in general. Still, it's a personal thing for him. Listen to his music up to and including The Pretender and you'll hear his thoughts set to thoughtful tunes. He's always been one of my faves.
