An overview of my new Jackson W60 TrueSight ADF welding helmet.
I researched pretty much all available ADH's on the market including the 3M Speedglas and the Miller Digital Elite. The Jackson W60 TrueSight just seemed so much better. I currently use a Jackson standard helmet and love how big the viewing area is, the shape of the helmet, and the 370 head gear. Can't wait to use this one...

I LOVE THIS HELMET!

I've been welding since 2010. I started with the basic cheapo jackson helmet( no auto darkening in trade school). I bought an harbor freight ADF(autodarkeningfilter) helmet soon after. I've used a speedglas for almost a year until I bought an Arcone python ADF. The Arcone Python was a great helmet well worth the $250 bucs and it was so lightweight. The speedglas was great too. I bought a Miller Titanium 9400i for around $400 in 2013 and used that moderately till about 3 weeks ago. The miller was great other than it was so heavy. I wouldn't recommend using this for a welding job that's more than 8 hours a day. SOOOO I bought a JACKSON WH70 TRUESIGHT II BLACK. I am so thrilled with this helmet, I fucking love it. IDK how else I could say in any other way this but this helmet is a welders dream. Its 1lb 4oz so hello lightweight. The weld puddle is green, whereas most helmets are orange. The BALDER TECHNOLOGY is truly a stroke of heaven and pure insane genius for what a welder really needs when it comes to welding. I work in a heavy fab shop. We weld the stiffeners and Im in tight places where I can barely fit my hands in laying down 1/4" to 1/2" welds in multiple passes with 1/16" fluxcore wire on 1/2" to 4" thick A36 Steel. Its hard enough to see where your putting a weld so you forget using a cheap ADF hemet. Since I got this helmet its added an extra area of visibility and basically I can see the edges of my welds better. I would recommend this helmet to anyone. If you have the money and you love quality I seen one on amazon for around 250.00 grab it up asap.

I have the same pants on as you right now, same sort of texture and color anyway and I'm sitting in a similar position so while I was watching this for a second I kind of thought I was seeing my own leg in the video... Just kind of tweaked me out a little bit for a second until I realized what was going on.

So how exactly do you get the inner lense out without breaking it I'm having the same issue as this other guy I need to replace it but it's not easy for me to get out and I'm afraid of breaking the clips

The link to amazon in your discription... is that for 2 helmets? Its saying 2 Pack and it looks like its priced for 2 hoods is this true? Also how much are the consumables like the replacement lens inner and outer? Ive been welding with a Miller Elite hood for about 6-7 years now and its about time to get something else.

Thanks for the review. I have the Miller Digital Elite and I flash myself often because I leave the helmet in grind mode and don't take the time to read the LCD display. Does the Jackson have light up buttons or LEDs to tell you what mode it's in?

If you can tell from the video, the only LED's are above the mode button. They do light up when pressed but I don't think they stay lit during working. I don't have the helmet in front of me otherwise I would confirm this. One thing though is you can always see what shade your on with the display...

The amber color is great. I like this helmet more and more every time I use it. The head gear is nice but yes mine also has a tendency to fall unexpectedly. Happens on both of my Jackson helmets with this head gear. You will not be able to put a different lens on the outside because of the space between the filter and the inside of the hood. I've tried a bunch of different ways but it just wont work. The stock lenses I get on ebay and they come out to about $2 a piece.

Are you able to put cheap covers for it? The 4x5 or something like that...
@GeneralExpert

@oreojeckle I can definitely see your point however, I'm not sure if any other lenses fit. The only other thing I've tried to do was put a standard flat lens protector there which did not work. The rubber around the stock safety lens is a must. It's a spacer. If that rubber isn't there, there is just too much space. I really wish they would have made it so you could use any standard stocked flat safety lens... Other than that, I don't have a problem with the stock safety lenses.

@micboobadan Yes, there is too much space between the helmet and the filter lens though. The stock clear lens has a rubber spacer attached all the way around the rim. I tried a couple different things but eventually just threw a standard clear lens in front of the stock clear lens to protect it from sparks when doing anything other than TIG. That way I don't have to keep ordering new stock clear lenses from ebay.

@yakdung No really easy, however I have been using it for the last couple of months and the battery is still at full. There is a little display that shows the battery level... Pretty sure as you weld it is recharged. I would guess the battery probably only needs to be changed once a year or so...

I found this ".you can still fit a cheap clear lens in front of the "special" Truesight lens so you won't have to replace the special one as often" on a forum talking about the truesight, wanted to ask, if this is accurate? Or maybe use 2 regular lens to make it fit? how do you like it so far? I'm thinking about selling my miller digital elite and buying one. As I love my lincoln hood, even the lock on the headgear when in the up position is a real winner. HATE the miller headgear

I really like this helmet. The head gear does have a tendency to sag though. I find myself constantly tightening up the knobs on the side. as for the auto darkening piece itself, it's fantastic. I've not had a problem at all with it. Original battery still shows full strength. I can see you being able to put another piece of plastic in front of the OEM one but I just don't do that because I like to see as clearly as possible. But that may be a viable option for some. I only TIG right now....

@oreojeckle It may not look it in the video but that outer lens IS made very very well. It's thicker than normal and very clear. I've been using this helmet for a while now with TIG and it's phenomenal. The viewing area is perfect... It just worx very very well. I couldn't be happier. I'm sure the miller Elite helmets are good to, but I'm the type of guy who will avoid the big name companies if I can.

I really want this hood but I hate auto dark because of the green giving me a headache. I use a gold passive filter in my jackson now.. would really like to see a video of this amber auto dark filter being used.. how much diffrent is it from green? also would have to have to get a cheap lens on the outside cause I go thru 1 a day. absolutly love this headgear but after a few months of 1000 flips a day the top "stay" position notch is wearing out and my hood drops unexpectedly :/

Just tried out my Jackson Truesight ADF and while looking at the tv, I notice quite a few dark spots but not so much looking away from the tv. I won't get a chance to see how it looks when welding until the end of this month when my class starts but just wanted to see if you had any issues like this or if this is normal. Thanks Jimmy

I'm dumb. I read through all the questions. It's basically people asking the something over and over! So you did add a plastic protector in front of the stock one when not doing tig work? LOL I didnt read that before! I really like the neck design of the HSL-100, think the truesight filter will fit that helmet? off the top of your head, it's ok if you dont know.. :-) have you been rough with it? think it can handle some abuse?

Requires 2 AAA batteries (Will not work without them). Helmet stays on for 8 hours if you leave it on. Press the ON button for 4-5 seconds to turn off. Use the Truesight front lens because the thin ones will allow pressure from objects to damage the ADF. Flying objects from grinding AND putting the helmet with front cover lens down on anything uneven. The rubber spacer helps with this. The lenses cost $2.50 each. A year's supply or lifetime supply (for occasional welders) well spent..

Unfortunately, no. I tried. The cover you need has a rubber seal that also acts as a spacer. When you put a cheap one, it's too thin and just bounces around in there.
