My neighbor down the street went to jail, had his family looking after his house, a couple of months later this whole family moved in. I thought they were relatives and besides the guys family were supposed to be watching the house. Well then noticed that the police were there quite a bit and later you could hear the arguing afterwards. Finally the house owner gets out of jail and you could her the banging and the cursing coming out of him. He told them in certain words to get out. The neighbor came by all of us neighbors telling us that they weren't relatives, they're squatters and his house is burnt from the inside. He went back and yelled out more threats to get out or else. The next day they were still there and the neighbor told us he cut off the electricity and water and next he'll be going in to live there! 😂 The squatters actually ran out taking their stuff, all the while the neighbor guy was himself removing all the burnt items the squatters left behind.

Hire an attorney to file an unlawful detainer order. Caution, don't do it yourself as it may require a court appearance if they dispute the order and you will not know what to say.

The laws need to change on this. No written agreement, no residency. GTFO, NOW. Sick of the weak laws.

My husband and I won't even leave our home to take a vacation anymore, we are scared we won't have a home to come home to once it squatters have invaded and the law will not kick them out even though it's our home. Vacations are over.

Home owners, never leave your home or rental property empty. Maybe keep a large dog there providing you visit and feed it everyday. Post signs, guard dog on duty, do not enter. This would be cheeper than repairs and evictions. Also, make sure it will be legal in the area you live or rent. Can also put alarm signs in the front and back of the rental or home. It may help. This is going to get worse.

If you pay the down payment and regularly pay the mortgage, it seems logical that you are the homeowners. If you pay rent, you have a legal right to remain. If you are a guest, then there shouldn’t be any question asked if you sense that it is time to leave.

So their friends who were the previous tenants told the homeless couple that they weren't living with them anymore. I see why.

My wife has her FREE LOADING son living with us 40 years old, I told him that is is not allowed to have anybody over especially a woman. She can stay one night and be a squatter

There should be a squatter law created for especially police to just take them to detention right away like any misdemeanors police does to others in the streets thus no if and but while abiding homeowners must go through paperwork and court

I let a guy (friend of a friend) stay at a place I was renting for 2 weeks. He ate my food and made himself at home. I told he he needed to go, but he was not motivated. I threw all his stuff out in the front yard and locked him out. He got back in so I ended up leaving.

Call the police and ask for a civil assist on a trespassing charge.

Would help if the post office did their job & stopped mail being sent to addresses where the people no longer reside. We bought our house in Orange Park over a year ago & we STILL get mail from 4 different people & 1 business. I've gone to the post office SEVERAL times & even spoke with the Post Master to have the their mail stopped being delivered to our home. Guess what? Even though our last name is on the inside of our mailbox, their mail is STILL being delivered to our house.

Sue them and destroy their credit where no one will ever rent to them again.

This is such an easy fix. Go hunting and bring a dead animal or two back and put them behind a locked door. Instead of using the toilet that day, defecate on the floor NEXT TO(not on) there belongings. Do each of those things once a day and their gone for sure. Also play loud music behind a locked door all day and night. As soon as they leave lock the door..
