helllooooooooo! its that time of year again! MERMAYYYYYY. I loved participating in #mermay last year so of course I wanted to this year as well! I also participated in a collab for mermay this year with some of my youtube doll friends so please definitely check out their mermaid doll repaints as well!

tiny brushes:
-princeton velvettouch round 20/0(my fav)
-wargamer "the psycho" army painter brush (its actually called the psycho, this ones quite good. its not as stiff as the one above so i find i have a little less control but its still a nice brush for details)
-arteje 100/0 camlon micro paint brush( this ones quite a bit stiffer than the other two but its a super tiny brush. its a bit hard to control but probably the finest brush i have)
I use a liquid brush shaper i got from blick awhile ago with all these brushes. this has really helped me with their longevity and keeping their shape which is kind of difficult with really fine brushes.

I was feeling a little worn out with this doll I'm doing and then I watched this and added some blotchy blushing (although both in my own way and lighter because it's a guy) and it's exactly what he needed to look the right amount of alive . Your blotchy blushing really encourages me to embrace what I want to do in my art and genuinely brings me joy

I like the blotchy blush and veins!! Your style is so aesthetically pleasing, and the lashes always remind me of Rose of Versailles lol. She turned out beautiful as usual and the accessories are so insanely gorgeous. Maybe next Mermay you could do a character from the Little Mermaid? Tbh tho id like to see any disney character in your style 👀

I'm so sad that the scarf hanger/brass knuckles/whatever-the-heck-this-is-thingy actually has a true name and purpose! It's so iconic how you had NO IDEA what the heck it was in literally every video.. LOL Now the question is, how'd you manage to get the handle without the bag? 🤔

This is my first video of her I've seen, and I was immediately confused, bc I also got a bag like that. (in case u r interested in the look, it's a bit more goth than the one she showed: www.voodoomaniacs.de/handtasche-mit-schlagring-griffen-und-gewebter-optik.html ) And I was just like "Wth is that bag handle doing there?". I also never seen someone with a bag like mine, and I'd have never THOUGHT of using it the way she does. Creative, I'll give her that. 😂😅

She’s awesome and I never knew that Laguna had transparent lower arms and hands! Which between those and the tail they are my favorite parts of her! ✨ Then there is her pretty eyes! Love how they sparkle! ✨

When I clicked on a mermaid custom, for some reason I immediately expected a less detailed doll. And oh boy was i happy to be wrong ! She's beautiful, I love the scale-like glitter on her torso, and the rainbow fish inspo brought me so much nostalgia !

Another fantastic mermay doll! She is gorgeous! The work on all the details, while it took forever, was worth it - she is stunning! Each link on the chains stands for a life event or something that merperson overcame. Royal merpeople have a lot of links because they are responsible for so many things - their people, the environment, politics with other merpeople, feeding their subjects, etc. The chains are the weight of their responsibility and they wear them proudly.

LOL, hole punches are such a genius idea for scales. When I made my mermaid earlier this month, I used Apoxie sculpt for her scales. In the end, she came out so heavy. She's more like a statue now. Haha!

honestly, that 'i create mostly for myself & it's cool if you guys like it too but if you don't idc' attitude is something i really admire about you. it's natural to want others to share in the things that bring you joy & it can be really disheartening if others don't acknowledge those things, but receiving that validation should never be the ultimate reason why you create. creating things that YOU want to see in the world bc YOU enjoy it should always be top priority for any creator, whether they're an artist, a writer, a sculptor, or anything else. got a little off track, but yeah, never change Jacky!

17:30 The reason the translucent plastics from the different lagoonas are different colors is bc of the doll line. Look at the color of the fins, on the original lagoona, they are that light blue, on the great scariar reef doll it’s that dark blue, hence the color differences

I love all the sparkle, as with most of your works.✨ The gold chains and the wire look so good, and the colours for the eyes compliment the skin tone a ton.💞 She's got such a calm, innocent expression. I like that she commands both a powerful, royal presence while also being soothing to look at. ^^

I have a mighty need to try to customize a doll using foam and glittery cardstock as scales. I still cant do faceups but man my ideas for dolls seems to be mostly ocean creature themed or hints to the ocean. also YES TO RAINBOW FISH!!! I love that book a lot!!!

oh my gosh!! do it! awww can you not do faceups because you think youre not good at it or have ya just not done one yet? OCEAN CREATURES ARE THE BEST! theyre just so fun and easy to make look pretty haha. ahhhh rainbow fish nostalgia!! it seems like its alot of peoples favs.

@@jackyohhhxo I tried doing faceups but im not good at faces or drawing in general. I have a jellyfish idea I want to make too but now I think I accidently used the doll for that for my mermaid since I started to make the mermaid!!!

AWHH! It's so so cute Lord help me! But I have a tip for her skin if you want to be extra or make it realistic try using fishnets and then putting powder on it it put a thin nice line and it makes it look like fish scales it works on human skin and doll skin try it it makes it more realistic!

thank ya!! i mean right?? its funny because i have a nyx yellow lipstick and youd think it would look like a nightmare and it probably does if your teeth are even vaguely yellow but i absolutely love it haha i also like how her lips turned out so i think i just have a thing for yellow lips lol
