I wonder if this is the protected cave he talked about in another video. I love the fact that some caves are so beautiful and rare that real cavers hide the location to perserve the beauty. I dont love the fact they have to or else idiots would coke destroy it, tho.
@EvenDarker
@EvenDarker 8 ай бұрын
This cave is protected. There are a few in the area. What's interesting is this specific cave received protection not because of passerbyers but because cavers were the ones that were messing it up. Back in the day prior to LED lights there was a lot of Lighting systems that required garbage dumps so to speak. Cave is relieving lighting leftovers as well as food packages and just generally trashing the cave. I thought that was odd. Just goes to show it's kind of everyone's responsibility not to be a big fat jerk.

@EvenDarker
@EvenDarker 9 ай бұрын
They will not stop working. We have too many backups and too many batteries and light sources that aren't battery powered. And also we can get out in the dark. I can't put odds against it but the odds of losing light down there are astronomically low. We just have too many sources. And, I've never had a flashlight fail. Modern LEDs are quite reliable. We have a list of concerns but light is not one of them. The trick is to try to guess what we're actually concerned about. It's not light and it's not animals and it's not getting stuck and it's not getting lost.

@EvenDarker
@EvenDarker 10 ай бұрын
Most of the caves we are in are new and unexplored. That's all we look for. I was with the group when we opened up this cave. Jacob is actually the fifth human in it ever. And it's likely that no one else will ever get in it. It's too narrow. There are more caves on this Earth than you probably would be willing to believe if I gave you a number. But if you're able to explore and find caves to others have entered there's a good chance there are more caves in that area where people have not entered. Shouldn't be that difficult but learning geography or joining an organized caving group are helpful to finding undiscovered caves.

If we ever get real deep, we would let the audience know. Most caves follow the lay of the land. They go downhill if the land goes down here. Most natural caves don't go straight down like a mine or a digged well. Real deep caves are rare. There's one around here that is about 1,600 feet deep and we'd like to visit that some day.

Tru spec pants... I bought several pairs of those when I worked at a fabrication company. Any other pants I'd wear I'd come home with a new hole but the Tru spec ones come with lots of pockets and are extremely hard to rip.
@EvenDarker
@EvenDarker 7 ай бұрын
I checked them out and they are fairly similar to what we wear. Ripstop Tactical pants. The only problem I have with most of those tactical pants is the pockets catch. If they don't rip that means we crawl out of the pants, if they do RIP that means we have pants with big holes in them. And they rip a lot! But they are what we wear because they rip less than pretty much everything else. I'm not actually positive what brand we buy but maybe our next cycle we will take a look at the tru spec. Another issue is that they aren't very warm. Denim is fairly warm. These caves are freezing. So I often wear a layer of warmth underneath the Tactical pants. But then if it all gets wet it weighs a lot. All that being said, I might check out the true spec pants on the next pants buying cycle. So thank you for offering an actual brand with your suggestion.

@EvenDarker 10 ай бұрын
It's a fair question but it's no different than if someone had a heart attack while driving. It's so desperately unlikely that nobody gives it an extra thought. And they shouldn't.
