Sancho was immature and unprofessional. You know it's bad when Harry Maguire himself said that you need to apologise, the guy who's been a scapegoat for YEARS yet he didn't moan or complain when Ten Hag stripped the captaincy from him. Ten Hag has tried the “arm around the shoulder” approach and that didn’t work, let him have a 3 month training camp mid season in Holland away from the media to rebuild his fitness and work on his mental health, Ten Hag was constantly asked questions about Sancho and always backed him or changed the subject. That approach didn’t work… by the sounds of it, he still doesn’t arrive on time for training or train properly, it's just sad man.

I understand mental health is huge, and i can see why people are saying ten hag shouldn't of said what he said publicly. But i think Ten Hag has every right to say what he is seeing. This moment reminds me of Arsenal’s situation with these top players with these Player Power ego’s. When the news occurred, I respected Ten Hag because Manchester United needs to have that togetherness that you see with the other big clubs without too many problems off the pitch. Because having these toxic like mentality will rub into the fans, the staff, and everyone affiliated with Manchester United. So the fact that Ten Hag is doing something different to many other United managers prior, I give him a lot of respect. Even if it isn’t the right decision initially, I think that the club could be in a better situation in the long term.

Sancho reportedly wanted to leave the club within so if that’s true, which looks to be likely, ten hag criticising him in public like that doesn’t make sense. If he wants to leave and you blocked it why are you not playing him and then going out of your way to criticise him. Asking a man for a public apology like that is just weird aswell because what does anyone gain from it at the end of the day? It just seems like a weird power trip from ten hag, if he handled it behind closed doors this could have all been avoided. With the mental health side of things, if ten hag gave him that time off for those reasons, why would you then go and open him up to public criticism like that? I suffer from mental health and support man united. What ETH did giving him 2/3 months out was 100% the right thing for him to get help and solve his issues. However, i agree that the manager is right. I want ETH to be ruthless with this squad. Too many players have got away with all sorts since SAF left. It needs a strong manager who stands by there decision. Sancho has just shown how immature he is and thinks he can get away with anything. For the club and for him, he needs to move on asap. Its harsh but you cant use mental health as a way out. You have to take some responsibility for your actions (staying up late, training, poor performances etc). Thats not down to mental health, its down to having the right attitude. My mental health is on and off, i deal with it the best i can, but i always work hard and have the right fighting attitude to overcome it... he needs to do the same!!

Even if sancho was better than he is now it would have been impossible to ever match the hype that came with him. And knowing what kind of club united is now and what kind of players and attitudes are there it was always obvious that the hype was going to go to sanchos head, the only kind of players that still go to united are glory hunter types with inflated egos of themselves, because quality players with a healthy outlook would never want to go to united where player and manager careers go to die.

I still don’t understand why this is a one way street. If it’s immature of Sancho for not apologizing and doing what’s best for the club, then why is it supposed to be professional for Ten Hag to publicly declare an ultimatum. If it’s unprofessional to bring things public then it goes both ways. If Ten Hag is misrepresenting Sancho’s effort, then why would he apologize? If he apologizes he gets to continue to ride the bench and enforces that Ten Hag was telling the truth. If Ten Hag is being dishonest then Sancho apologizing is not actually what’s best for the club. Just because you’re the manager doesn’t mean that your decisions are more important than the well-being of the club.

I honestly don't care about the morality of who's right or wrong, but the results and effects of that action. The fact is that Ten Haag's public flaming of Sancho enflamed the situation and made it worse. Before that happened, Sancho still made some positive contributions like those goals against Arsenal and Leeds just very recently. Maybe he would have improved his training performance irregardless and gotten back closer to his Dortmund levels if the manager had not chosen to enflame tensions. Perhaps you should have looked closer at Man Utd's performances this season. Sancho is far from the only Man Utd player underperforming. At a certain level, that's down to the manager, his training methods, and what he's getting out of his players.

This is a weird take to me because you put the entire impetus of apology on Sancho instead of Ten Hag! It feels to me like you kept pointing out how easy it would be for Sancho to apologize, but I feel it would be just as easy for Ten Hag to apologize or at the very least put their personal feelings aside and continue working professionally. I think in the month since this video we’ve seen that Ten Hag, like every other human being, makes bad decisions and should be able to be challenged/held accountable for those decisions. From an outside perspective I actually think Man U’s problem isn’t player power over manager power, it’s individual power over systemic power. The criticism Ten Hag is getting now, rightly, is that he’s made a bunch of transfer decisions that haven’t exactly panned out, but that’s because they’re prioritizing his individual power and desires over a system I think. As a Liverpool fan I think about what it no one had been around to challenge Klopp about not wanting Salah. And that’s one of the best managers of all time making a mistake, as all managers do, but Liverpool, and other well run clubs like City, Brighton, etc. I think prioritize the institution/system over any individuals which includes the manager. I think that’s why ETH feels a bit doomed from the jump actually is that I think you’re right, he’s expected to be this central authority figure, but I think that SAF do everything, one man is the system doesn’t work in the modern era. Especially from Sancho’s perspective I think the “proving ten Hag wrong” could be letting his other decisions play out and then going to another club, cuz he’ll still have plenty of suitors, I think given his age, history and ability. But I agree I think that could be avoided if either apologized but to put the impetus entirely on Sancho to apologize is weird to me. Last thing, especially in light of all the Dele stuff, I think, you’re right, without enough information to pass judgement, maybe we should try to pass less judgement. But I respect how well you put together your arguments and opinions in this video, even if I disagree with them!🙏🏽

As someone who battles her mental health struggles almost daily, this has to be probably the best take on this situation I've seen yet. Yes, mental health is serious and it shouldn't be ignored, especially in a space as difficult as the sport where the mentality is either getting on with it or throwing your career away. As a red devil, I have seen players sink or swim with the weight of the badge and I can only imagine how hard it must be for the lad. However, you don't use mental health as an excuse. There's nothing I hate more than someone saying that they won't do something because of their mental health. That's proving yourself right. It's a self destructive mentality that will only put you into a downward spiral. And if Sacho continues to approach his problems like this, I fear they will only get worse and worse. I truly want what's best for the lad. And I'm sure Ten Hag, the rest of the United lads feel the same way. They want him to get better and improve but you can't do something like that without even trying. Thank you for making this one lad, it was a really personal one for me and I'm glad this perspective was put out there. You're a real one

As a Man Utd fan I feel very bad for Sancho, I think he joined at the very wrong time not just in his career but also Man Utd too as they have so much drama behind the scenes currently with the Glazers etc. To be honest I think he should had stayed at Dortmund and he would had continued to excel there much as I wanted Man Utd to get Sancho back in 2021. The only way for him to revive his career is leave Utd because I rather have him excel elsewhere than harming his career at Man Utd. I really think there’s no way back for him at Man Utd after calling out ETH. It’s a real shame as I had massive hopes for this guy

This idea that the manager is always right is silly. If a manager can criticise his staff, the staff can criticise the manager. This is true of any healthy working environment. Would anyone here be happy if their bosses criticised their performance publicly? I manage staff and would be in serious trouble with my boss if I did similar. So to respond to the Tesco/office point made in the video, if concerns were discussed in a 121 that is acceptable. If however, a senior manager was on TV being grilled about Tesco's performance and he said "Yeah Vizeh hasnt really been performing well enough on the shop floor", this would not be acceptable. The fact Sancho is a footballer is irrelevant. Seems to be a lot of bootlicking here, this isnt a workhouse from the Victorian age.

Your comment is dumb ten hag did not scapegoat sancho he was asked a question about why sancho and mctominay were absent and he answered truthfully saying he didn't train to the standard that they require at a club like man utd. It's not as if he blamed man utd losing solely on sancho that's what you're insinuating with your shit analogy. He did the same with rashford why has rashford been dropped? Because he overslept and missed the team meeting before the game but what did rashford do instead of complain on social media and undermine his manager he looked fired up cos he wanted to prove himself and make amends for his mistake.

As stated above, im no expert but i'm trying to understand the man and his actions. Hope he gets better soon for his own sake and well being.

My thoughts: I think he was one of the best wingers before his move to united. It was a mistake to go to a club that was under so much scrutiny, even from past players, about disciplinary issues. A club that had a bad record of signing big players that failed to live up to expectations. I will say, though, that at the time solskaer seemed to be handling united in a somewhat good direction, I do believe sancho would have/ could have played an important role in the squad that had just come 2nd the season before but the pressure to sign cr7 seems to be where everything fell off. Signing ronaldo back was a panic buy as they all did not want to lose one of their best ever players to city, and I think that contributed to not only their downfall but sanchos displacement.

With some players being overly developed for their age (Jude) we forget that the ones in the spotlight are being a manchild also due to their age, as most professional players are pre-30. Doesn't explain the stupidity of Sancho though.

Excellent take. Man United does have a player issue. They always have. The addition of EtH to this team was a breath of fresh air, especially how the Ronaldo nonsense went down. It was clear there was finally a manager taking charge. I don’t want to comment on Sancho because I think he’s genuinely mentally ill, and that concerns me. But I can say that I agree with EtH, he’s got the history of supporting players like Sancho during tough times but at the end of the day he’s the manager of one of the biggest franchises in sports. He’s going to look out for the betterment of the team rather than the individual player.

It’s difficult. The problem is now in society anyone going through a hard time be it pressure at work or judged to have poor performance is classed as being “anxiety” or “depressed” and work wise it has become the new “bad back”. Sickness claims for the above have gone through the roof and due to the backlog of referrals to mental health services people know they can get away with it. Our services are buckling and we send many away because they are just going through periods of struggle, be it financial, family or otherwise. What this also does is the ones that REALLY need are help are stuck in the same queue so it’s a double edged sword. While it is great the awareness is out there, as a professional, it’s hard to see the patients that really need the help because of the time wasters sadly. I wonder if Sancho would have had a different story if he hadn’t seen the outpouring for Dele Alli weeks before 🤷🏻‍♂️. Who knows.

I agree with alot you stated. Although at somepoint you have to ask something about the clubs culture being inherently bad. They had alot of players who had problems there, Lingaard and Sancho reportedly had/have mental health issues. I saw a interview from Kagawa said when he was at Manchester it sucked the live out of him. Many players went there recently with high potential they couldnt live up to or had issues outside the pitch. I guess you can look at every case individually but at somepoint you should be asking if something about a clubs soroundings and culture is just toxic. Or you just acquire the wrong character of players for the culture. In this case I think maybe Sancho should try go back to Dortmund.

The latest developments have been completely ridiculous. When Sancho was at an all time low, Ten Hag took him under his wing, patted him on the back and let him go. When your manager reaches a hand out to you to make sure you're ok, and you come back just as unruly as you were before, without the mental health excuse this time, AFTER being given a sabbatical to take a step back from the lights and cameras to fix himself up, I find it really hard to sympathize. On top of that, you cannot possibly expect the "it's ok buddy" treatment from Ten Hag even after he tried it and you spat on the hand that helped you. When Ten Hag got fed up and gave him a punch in the face, he tries to play the victim card and everyone immediately takes Ten Hag's side because Sancho's completely in the wrong. More than that, I'm sorry, you cannot say you're going to give everything for the club, and then play fucking video games all night and show up late to training. If I'm Sancho, I'd just say sorry. Whether I actually AM sorry or not is besides the point, when that's the only thing stopping you from playing and winning the trust of the fans back, just do it and pretend like everything's fine. You're still a United player, you're still being paid to play, and you have a job to do. You've been given time to fix yourself, you didn't, you act like you don't want to be at the club anymore, but you're happy to sit back and collect the bag while munching Doritos and playing Ultimate Team. Make a choice, apologize, pretend you're sorry and play, or mutually agree to terminate your contract and leave. Maguire stayed, and despite all the hate he's been getting, he just buckles down, takes it on the chin, and plays when he's asked to play. He doesn't whine and throw a hissy fit. He doesn't skip training. When a guy that's hated by everyone wearing red in a 500 mile radius is ready to suit up, ready to train and tries his best when he gets a chance to, you cannot sit back and pretend like you're different.

All the talent in the world but doesn't have the mentality required. It's happened to loads of players and will continue to. I wish Jadon would reconsider his future in this profession but if he's not happy at Manchester United or even being a footballer that's fair enough. As you said he is probably very sensitive to criticism, even from a supportive Erik ten Hag. I've been in that situation recently with my own career choice, I'm thankful for a change also. Thank you Vizeh for your view on the matter; and having watched other KZfaq content creators as well as football pundits, I have something to say; I recall players (who loved the game) would actually get depressed after getting injured for months on end, I also hear of the stories of players who drank or abused alcohol for lack of playing time; knowing you put your heart&soul in the training pitch. If football is what you love- playing, training & representing one of the greatest clubs then that's all you and that is the greatest thing about football or any sport you love. So with this attitude by Sancho is not even about Mental health but absconding of your duties as a professional athlete and employee. He is currently the highest paid player in the club and yet Dan Gore or Hannibal have more minutes than him. Sancho is acting like a big child yet he should be a fine role model for the academy kids. He has shown no remorse in his actions, no hunger to get back on board and for even his teammates begging him to come back is spinless move. He has no respect for himself, the club or his teammates and he has lost my respect to him cause despite his instagram "words" of playing football, his Actions speakes volumes of his character. I hope he never plays for the club ever again and his actions are nothing short of a breach of contract.

Sancho is now being petty. That I completely understand However, if I was in his shoes -- perhaps I went into training and worked my behind off, decided that I'd cut gaming time and other stuff and then I walk into the training grounds one day and Ten Hagg tells me, 'Son, you need to work more. Otherwise, no gaming time' I dont know about the rest but Im pretty sure I'd get stressed out so much itd game end me. Out of 20-30 or so players amongst coaching and fitness staff, YOU and you alone are the only one getting called out for underperforming. I know people are different and will act differently when circumstances, especially unfavorable ones such as this, start to manifest. I know for one, the shock of it all would precede the drive to outshine and outperform the others and I believe that in Sancho's case, hearing Ten Hagg's statement did a number on him. Thus, feeling caged, Sancho just....snapped, pulled out his claws and unfortunately snapped at a rather inconvenient time As harsh as it sounds, emotions did get the better of Sancho because I for one would feel the same way. Or rather, this is what I'm assuming wouldve happened at the training grounds because that would be the only scenario that wouldve prompted an outburst from Sancho in my opinion so do take this with a grain of salt That being said, all he needed to do is say 'IM SORRY' or a formal apology. If I havent been clear, this is a more 'In Sancho's Defence' comment. You stuff down all the hatred and agony and pain from hearing the painful words of the manager, say sorry, go back to training, let the manager know that yes, your press conference statement didnt gel with me, manager also decides to apologize and get to relaying that kind of information at a more personal level instead of broadcasting it to the whole world This is just simply the undoings of ego and while Ten Hagg may have reached a tad bit too far in blatantly telling the whole world that Sancho underperformed in training, Sancho's pettiness is visibly manifested. That being said, I think it would be wise for Sancho to still remain in the hands of Manchester United. I believe professionalism will come into play and the coaching staff and players will soon opt to put the issue behind it as I'd assume most are older than Sancho and have witnessed far more unfortunate and related incidents. All that will determine this is whether Sancho can also be mature about it and opt to take accountability. Cant believe Ive written an essay on this and I'm a Chelsea fan 😅but we move.

I am in no place to judge Sancho. I’ve dealt with similar issues, and it’s not that far off from battling with addiction and struggling to find a way out. He shouldn’t have posted that thing online, that was a mistake, and he should apologize, but I’ve seen people attacking him and his personality, that’s not okay. The mainstream media and pundits are also in that boat, way over the top with the way they talk about him. I’m not siding with Sancho, but I’m DEFINITELY NOT siding with the media and pundits that slam into him and his personality. @@PoliAstroN how does this show anything but his personality? only certain personalities would behave like this when put in this situation

@@sm42941because it’s not as simple as “it’s his personality”, that’s why. there’s context that we just don’t know.. mainstream media, and social media, people judge each other way too fast

I completely back Sancho on this one, he has been the scapegoat for a lot of the problems at the club alongside players like Harry Maguire and even when they don’t play there’s magically a reason to shit on them. Sancho has underperformed at Manchester United and that’s the truth but really who hasn’t in the past 5 years? Only Bruno and Casemeiro haven’t IMO. Rashford gets a free pass to ghost game after game because he’s an academy player and has a good reputation with the fans. I’m not gonna bash any player but for Ten Haag to come out publicly and say what he said about Sancho isn’t wrong but neither is what Sancho did. They should both come out publicly and apologize to each other as MEN! Not as player/manager but as men who don’t have to respect each other on a personal level but at least on a business level

Can you show me where anyone at the club has blamed Sancho for any bad results? “Scapegoat” means blaming him for all your problems. This is all so soft compared to Howe, who dropped Fraser down to the kids *permanently* for having a bad attitude. And we’ve benefited from having him out of the mix. If you want better results, you need to stop taking powers away from your manager and let him pick the best players to win games.

Mate have you been living under a rock rashfords been getting pelters these last few games and many fans are wanting rashy to get dropped for garnacho after his poor form and attitude. In 21/22 season it was worse most fans were against rashford and there were many fans contemplating if this was the end for rashford and if he should have been sold but he made a comeback.

this situation makes me respect maguire more. he has been the scapegoat for years and people has been mocking him week in week out but he still manages himself well and doesn't act like a child. sancho is so unprofessional and a man child.
it's all over for Jadon Sancho
