In this video I show you how I renewed the front discs and pads on a Jaguar x-type 2.0L diesel 2003-2009
Torque settings:
Caliper to hub mounting 15mm Hex bolts: 133Nm
Caliper guide pin bolts: 30Nm

Your Jag is getting plenty of TLC and well done too. I've got a feeling that Aunty Mildred won't be seeing her rug for a while yet. Your videos are a great incentive for me to get on with my car which is due its MOT soon.

Great to hear my Aunt's sacrifice is helping others to work on there cars. I'm sure if she knew she would be cool about it. I left the rug out in the rain the other day so I've been desperately trying to dry it and put it back in her bedroom before she notices :-)

I've never understood how there could be brake fluid coming out when you press back the cylinder. This could only happen if you filled the canister to the top while there are worn brake pads. Also using such a C-clamp on just one half of the cylinder is not really good. This could be the reason, it's hard to get it back because it goes in unevenly. Better use a tool for that or at least a small wooden block ober the entire cylinder to press in the middle.

Exactly, brakes can last year's these days and if you go to a service garage they often top it off! I've used a g clamp for years with no complaints. You could put a block in, yes, but you can feel if it binds to one side and if that is the case you would replace the caliper.
